    Yup, you read that right. In this episode, I install a FIFTY DOLLAR hydraulic handbrake from ebay. I'm going to go ahead and put this out there, I do NOT have high expectations for this hydro, and I do NOT expect the master cylinder to last very long. But, for $50, I was curious to see how this piece performed, and how long it would last before I started to experience issues. I guess we'll have to see.

    R.I.P. Ebay master cylinder. 7 events later and it's time to go dual caliper! Video is linked in the description!

      Hey bud, what exactly happen? I'm on Ebay/Aliexpress looking at those cheap 0,625 master cylinders as wilwood wants way too much money. i'm coming off a Harry Potter Broomhilda 2000 that I welded and extended the cable one myself. After 1 year of use I ended bending the OEM lever so I'm fitting my spare and going hydraulic. The leverage was awesome and made it x10 easier to pull and lock but the lock was always uneven on both wheels no matter the cable lengths, the shoe distance and constantly requires readjusting. Not to mention you only operate one of the shoes instead of both. So kinda happy it ended like that as I definitely need hydraulic. So do you suggest the cheap 10$ 0.625 cylinders?

      Just noticed it dying the past 2 events and it eventually just stopped working. Honestly, after my experience with the ebay hydro, I wouldn't even bother with the cheap stuff. Wilwood may be pricey, but it's definitely worth it.

      Yeah best to just go dual caliper and slap a girling cylinder on the ebay ebrake :)

    I believe the biggest weak point in the EBay hydros is the master cylinder. Other than that, maybe build quality but for $50 you have a good frame to mount that Wilwood master cylinder that you have

    Alright I have a question, is it possible to buy the "correct" brake master cylinder so you can avoid spending more money on these hard to find adaptors 3/16" 3/17" or whatever the hell they are called...

    • @nuisance_carl
      @nuisance_carl  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      AFAIK, the 7/16" - 20 inlet is standard for most brake master cylinders. The adaptor is pretty much a must unless you run a master cylinder with it's own reservoir, but at that point you need to run dual calipers.

    That fitting you used on the hydro brake is that for almost any hydro brake? Or just for that specific one?

    What's up carl , I have installed my hydro the exact same method on my obd2 e36 which is practically the same brake system . Mine does not lock up the wheels , did you remove abs ?

    • @nuisance_carl
      @nuisance_carl  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      ABS was not removed, but it was disabled by removing and unplugging ONE wheel speed sensor. I removed the sensor on the passenger side rear.

    would it work if you flipped the master upside down to have your brake lines run down rather than loop up ?

    • @nuisance_carl
      @nuisance_carl  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question. I'm honestly not sure, and I haven't seen anyone run it this way. I don't see an issue running it upside down, but I'd definitely look into it.

    Hey, could you provide a full list of stuff needed to install the ebrake? and you said you had leaking problems with that, what was the problem?

    • @nuisance_carl
      @nuisance_carl  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Materials required are at 1:16 👍 You'll also need to either make or purchase brackets to mount the hydro. I had two leaking issues; one at 7:42 (fixed by copper washer/gasket), and the other because of bad flares at the T fittings (Seems to have stopped).

    How did you bleed the brakes with the hydro?

    • @nuisance_carl
      @nuisance_carl  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did it the same way as you would without a hydro. pump the brakes, hold, open and close the bleeder valve, repeat.

    • @Projectchasingthewild
      @Projectchasingthewild 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nuisance_Carl interesting. I tried two different ways. The one you mention and the other way, hold down the brake than hydro, close valve way multiple times and its still mushy. Any ideas what i should do? I have the same setup as yours but on a e36 abs and all

    • @nuisance_carl
      @nuisance_carl  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Inline hydro setups are inherently more of a pain to get fully bled. Even when you have a constant stream of fluid, there may be air trapped somewhere in the brake system. I'd personally keep trying. In this video mine managed to come out fine, but recently, I had to bleed my brakes again due to replacing a brake line and no dice. I'll have to try again myself.
