During the height of my winning days I had one helluva streak going right up until I suffered a racing-ending spinal injury. Watching these POV races is incredibly cool. The only downside is I'm screaming at the screen while I watch the leaders getting away. It's very frustrating not to have any control over what's happening, but very cool nonetheless.
Sad about your injury. Know you've done what most of us only dream of. But, "...screaming at the screen..." LOL! Maybe you're not the only one doing that. :)
I had a 1996 and the vibs were not like the old ones. More like a 250. My most favorite bike to this day and wish I never sold it. So reliable at any rpm.
Brilliant video. Thank you for posting. Neville certainly tamed the beast! Not easy and got tantalisingly close to Brad. Nice to see Foxhill dry for a change! Not sure about the different layout though.
EXCELLEN,I was glued to the screen, that was a good battle shouting at the screen lol Would LOVE to race on that track !!!! But I live in wishaw,Glasgow,Scotland……. So no chance 😤😭 16:33
I could watch this race over and over. 5:37, come on! too bad about the go pro case at 3:38, but at least it didn't affect the video too much. Great racing!
That's one hell of a track back in the old days my best friend had a 1980 cr500 he got for Christmas it was to much for me lol I had a XR200 enduro I loved that bike
To be competing in an event which is essentially a race of Champions, Neville is without a Doubt a First Class Rider . His race craft, strength, stamina and poise and self-control are evident throughout the race. The two rider's whom he was able to pass in the mid to later stages of the race certainly weren't any slouches. Perhaps fatigue and concentration going away causing little mistakes and Neville being right there to make the pass on them 👍 When you're riding with the best of the best to finish in the Top Five is an awesome achievement on old Honda Iron . Well done Bro ! 👍😉😎😊
Takes me back to my younger days! Rode the CR500 a couple of times… truly an unbelievable ride! I knew if I kept riding it I’d probably kill myself! Awesome power! I stuck with the CR125 and the CR250… in my case, more manageable… the good old days!!💪🏻💪🏻
I remember those rocks flying like asteroids in the air. And thats from watching on the side lines. We would watch with our scott goggles with mast on if we were standing at a outside turn. I was hit 20-feet away from the turns. I was at saddleback Park, California motocross track and racing world track close by that one.
Honda never made a cr 500 in 1980.Only in works bike for the factory riders. 1984 was the first production model, bought that one new in 84,still have my 97 cr 500 and will NEVER get rid of it ❤.
Cousins husband has CR500 and I ride Honda 450 atv. Wearing helmet and boots with no chest protector or hand guards. Thought I would try to race after refuling. Broken finger and multiple bruises on chest when the CR came out of dig. Lesson learned ab the animal that is the CR500.
What a lot of people don't understand is the power output these bikes put out gear through gear. It takes an in shape individual to control & throw the bike around on a dime. Easier said than done ! If this doesn't get your blood pressure up than you don't have a pulse !
My dad got it for me in 90 new , he got the dirt bike cause I was 15 and bought a 1981 cb900f super sport and he was like nope 👎”look here son I’ll take you a new dirt bike of your choice 😊me got a 500 😊😊😊😊he had no frigin idea until he heard me buggering around with it in our back 40 he damn near had a heart attack lol 😅
Ryan Villopoto arrives at the start gate expecting to line up behind the gate that he has spent ages prepping (he was 3rd gate pick) However...... Brad Anderson has different ideas, being 2nd gate pick, he arrives before RV and rolls into the American's perfectly prepped start rut !!!!! Mind games or just Ando being Ando ???????
Funny how nostalgia changes or memories. The big CR was awkward to ride in it’s day and the brutal power produced slower lap times than the 250 class unless the rider was a top expert. No doubt I found 450 four strokes so easy to ride fast. Tracks built for four strokes appeared quickly , no more slow technical corners! This was the end for H/K/&Y as Suzuki packed in the big bike way back in the eighties. Why build what nobody wants?
Great ride nev 🏁 don’t they believe in watering the track at foxhills now? That’s lung cancer right there breathing in all that dust , it should never be allowed.
Always wondered about the gushing and droolingover the full 500 500 class bikes...I know that I was faster for longer on a good 250 than I was back in late 70s when 500 class bikes were still 390, 400, 420 or the baddest Maico's 440.... Here I hear and read more gushing about the CR500...but if a green number plate means what it did for decades, the CR500 guy was passed and beaten by a guy on a 250..Brad Anderson......It seems 250 is enough...and 500cc no advantage.
Those cameras are cool but it can make me dizzy and doesn’t show the race really. What’s really sad is the damage that 4 strokes did to this incredible sport. No fans even out there watching even if it’s a local race. Really pisses me off. They need to get a grip on this a revive the sport and if not for anything but to bring more money to bike sales. Raising the price of bikes does nothing but keeps lower income blue collar workers from getting a bike and they are the ones who built motocross
The CR500........this is what dreams are made of
Thanks for the ride man! I could feel every twist of the throttle
Glad you enjoyed it!
If it only had a power valve. Still the best bike ever. I miss the bigbore days.

Sorry to hear about your injury. Must have been a 500 that you got hurt on?
Sad about your injury.
Know you've done what most of us only dream of.

I always love watching Neville on the old big bores because he can ride the hell out of one!! Great video thanks..
That was awesome👍🏻dry hard packed so tricky on the 500’s
Geez that track is intense! Well done Neville. RIP GoPro case 😂.
Those Big down hill booters on a CR500. So Sick! Bradshaw is a beast!
I raced a CR500 in the late 90's, it would smoke everyone out of the gate but a few laps in the vibration turns your arms to wet noodles.
I had a 1996 and the vibs were not like the old ones. More like a 250.

Vibration on my '86 would work up to my eyeballs.
@@human1513 I had a ‘96 CR500 as well. Of all the race bikes I had it was prob my fave
Noob. That’s why you beat them to death with the roost. Braaaap!
Best channel TH-cam channel! Keeping 2stokes alive. Thanks guys
All I could think about was how brutal that roost must be. Then the go pro lens broke 😂
Was a bit like i remember back in 94.. the last laps was worn out from the kx ..liked the clutchwork and rthe sound
500 stroker + hard pack can’t have been easy to get that power down !! Amazing ride
Bravo druye svaka cast za vožnju i snimak.
Nice video Max, nev can certainly ride that red monster, loving the sounds of the bikes flying round the track.
NEVILLE IS A MACHINE! LEGENDARY
This is what I needed today.
Thanks!
Happy to help :) Thanks for watching
What an awesome track that is!
It sure is. How good did those bikes sound going up the hills :)
Brilliant video. Thank you for posting. Neville certainly tamed the beast! Not easy and got tantalisingly close to Brad. Nice to see Foxhill dry for a change! Not sure about the different layout though.
Great Ride Nevster! 👏Great video man! 🤙💪🍁✌🏻
He makes it look easy to ride those 500's but its definitely not ! Thanks for watching.

Would LOVE to race on that track !!!! But I live in wishaw,Glasgow,Scotland……. So no chance 😤😭 16:33
Haha!
I lived at 542 Main for a month back in '79.
Hi to Mr Kelly! Hope he's well.
Nice ride Neville !
Had an 86 cr 500, damn i miss it so much, great video i can smell it just watching, 👍🏻❤
Same here. If I only knew not to sell it.
IMPECCABLE LINE CHOICES ON SKETCHY HARDPACK , HE HAS INCREDIBLE STAMINA
Amazing talent and balls! Can't believe crap football is televised whilst this isn't!
Love this race, love this course. Hell of a ride.
That's absolutely fantastic ! Fantastic !
You looked really fast on the uphills.. great stuff.
Man!! These guys are still scary, crazy fast!!
I could watch this race over and over. 5:37, come on! too bad about the go pro case at 3:38, but at least it didn't affect the video too much. Great racing!
Lol,the go pro had a better picture/view after the lens protection got roosted to death!

I know what you mean! Thanks for watching.

Love the sound!! Miss my Rm 250 ! Went to Russ Darnell school in pa , he had a husky 360 was bad ass sound , but the 500 maico and cr are special
Poor GoPro 🤣
What a fantastic day that was. Can't wait for the next one ✊🏻🔥💨

WOOOOOOOOOW AWESOME AMAZING SUPERB
Owned a KX 500 once.
And once was enough!
I once owned a YZ490.
Yes, once was enough!
Nothing like the deep throat sounds of a big bore 2 stroke
I was riding an '84 CR 500 when I was 15. Gen X'ers learned how to ride on man bikes. I've never ridden a lame 125.
I remember those rocks flying like asteroids in the air. And thats from watching on the side lines.

Thanks Tess :)
Everybody said I would die on my CR500R.
I'm still here and my bike is ok. 👍
It would have been awesome if he could have raced the yz500 in this event. That would have been interesting.
Broke the gopro?
@999lazer thanks Max!!!
Love the channel! Get the adrenaline rush going. Neville had gd run albeit the slower bikes early on.
👍
Nice track
Did you get to race yourself Max? That looks like fun. I think I like Farliegh Castle track better from the videos
Not this one, I was too busy filming :)
@@999lazer don't do that any more. Filming comes second. You need to ride

Great video! The punishment the camera takes is amazing. Sure sucks being held up by lapped traffic.
Brilliant impressive great fantastic :-)

This really showcases the power of the two stroke. Half of one thousand cc's.

WYLD STALLIONS !!
You don't have to be , you just need to take your brain out and nail it 😂😂😂 get video 99
So dusty! Def need to water the track on thise downhills...
Good to see maximum effert by Nev!
That had to be physically exhausting. Mt KTM 360 wears me out, I couldn't imagine a 500
Three thumbs up if I had them 👍👍
You will loose your eyes without goggles.
Im so caught up in it, I can't hang onto my phone, twisting it and turning it
The wet run down your leg farts of a 4 stroke vs the sound of 1000 pissed off hornet on steroids. I much prefer the latter.
Sucks the lense shattered
reminds me of prairie city ohv park.
Imagine if they allowed 300-380-500-700 2 strokes on Mx...

I say close to equal.
They have changed quite a bit, but still close.

There was a water shortage
3:38....spray of suffering for the camera.
There is a 700 two stroke by gasgas that is made to be a enduro and it will about keep up with this.
Captain arm pump......
Hard pack, slick, dry… the best for a 500…😂

Amazed the bike has the grunt to tow the testicles it needs to ride like this.
All the 250s well ahead just goes to show how though 500s are

To many riders that's why I never bothered I just had fun I think it's unfair
I raced and won on them in the 80s...you ride harder when you're bike ain't shit...the new 450s are easy to go wide open on
WATER THAT TRACK
seems so pointless to be racing a cr500 on a hardpack dry track where you just get wheel spin the entire time , should have been on a stock yz250
Eso si es jugº de tómate jyeeea
Those big 500's are barely turning over and still going fast and throwing roost.
full potential for 16 minutes? thats nothing. Done that. 40min, now thats another challange....
