    It seems more and more companies are going back to the tried and true taller head tube and shorter reach for endurance bike and going more away from extras on a bike, we all know customers want pro looking bikes that are just a little more taller then stock and allows them for a comfy geometry with holding a very fast look.

      Ok here we go. Traditional stage race geometry (square dimensions or shorter with a low BB chord) lost its way when Trek started building carbon mass produced bikes with American crit geometry. Their geometry made its way to Europe when they started building their frames there. The Italian makers dug in then caved into making their bikes with shorter stays and long/low geometry. So endurance geometry is really old stage race geometry from say an EL OS or Nivacrom Pinarello from the 1990s. Liken this to what the craft beer industry calls a “session” ale. What that really is is beer that has what I call a “normal” amount of alcohol like a Bud from the 1990s. But they had to make a whole product like bc the hood and alcohol content are off the charts. Lager microbrews now taste like yesterdays ale. Same thing with race bikes. Gravel bikes actually more mimic old racing geometry the best now. Plain and simple.

    FYI the X series has almost identical geometry to the Canyon Endurace (although the sizes don't line up exactly. For example, the Endurace 56cm, has virtually the same stack and reach as the Pinarello X in a 54.5cm). So, some of the tallest and shortest reach of any endurance bike on the market. Very cool!!

    I am on a 2022 Pinarello Prince with an Ultegra group, Hunt carbon wheels and upgraded to the carbon integrated bars. I like the look of the new X model, however, from what I am riding, compared to this specific model, this would not be an upgrade. I would be interested in the higher-end X models to get the lighter carbon and the better components, however, you quickly get into the $10k+ price level.

    • @johnhayes9749
      @johnhayes9749 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m under the impression the new F series is more or less the replacement for the Prince. The X series is mostly a new model. I’m looking at getting an X3 once I can find one in Atlanta, but I briefly rode a Prince a few days ago at a shop and it felt quite good. I’m coming from a 2011 Trek 2.3, so just about anything would be an upgrade at this point lol.

    I love the idea what pinarello are doing with the short top tube and stack and reach. I have a short torso and long arms and legs with many problems with my knees and ankles from playing basketball before. I really looked into this bike but a few things put me off… one is that is not a performance bike at all, I have a TCR and I race sometimes so I would need competitive bike and they are not even doing a ultegra version to my knowledge. Secondly is the price is very high, I know it’s Italian but to make that bike into what I want I would spend almost the same for a custom bike, and a custom bike would fit even better so all in all unless you not competitive and don’t mind the weight of this bike then I can’t see many people buying this. A frame set would make sense if it isn’t stupid money though

    Industry is stuffing the consumer with bikes that would've been on heavy side for steel in the 90s. If you live in a place that's dry, like Colorado, disc brakes are unnecessary the road. The 10 year old integra calipers on my Look 566 endurance bike will put me over the bars if I grab them hard enough. I want something new, more comfy tires 28-32mm pls, bigger gear range, 100% mechanical and make it around 16lbs. A 20lb bike is seriously fat assed for long climbs. Last year on Ride the Rockies (first organized tour for me in years) the number of riders with noisy discs and other issues wasn't insignificant. I passed loud bikes all day every day.
