I bought a boat that had taken in water. The river water pushed the oil out of the diesel engine dipstick. I flushed the engine with diesel and put in fresh oil. It lasted about 3 months and then something went in the big end. Seeing this video know I realise that the engine should have been stripped completely and rebuilt. Good video

Oh ok so the rods bend because the pressure in engine from sucking in excessive water and the water doesn’t go anywhere so it just pressurizes. Couldn’t you just redo the engine?
Buy a new engine. Since water cannot be compressed, when water gets inside engine (engines are designed to compress only air), it seizes the engine and bends the rods, sometimes even blowing up the engine. How does water get in engine? The engine's air intake is near height of tires and/or fenders because cold air is dense/ heavy near ground. Cold air is better for engine function. But if you drive through high water, the engine's air intake sucks up all that water like a vaccum. Lesson: don't drive through high water--you're driving a car, not a boat.
Mara P exactly imagine trying to fix that would be fucking hell your have to take the bitch apart by every little piece and fix every little bent thing and good luck identifying what is wrong with it because so much shit that could have gone wrong

There is likely more damage than this rod alone and reparations will most of the time cost more than the engine itself depending on the damage.
how to fix it??
