A bag of chips or this ratchet set? Which would you buy? Here’s what I think.

This reminds me of the kit I got from Walmart about a decade ago: All the sockets I needed, and a couple extensions. The ratchet itself gave up a couple years in (definitely not designed for a lot of torque). But I replaced it with a flea market Craftsman and it's still my go-to set, despite representing an investment of less than 20 bucks.
I think it's so easy to expect to have to pay a lot for tools that we often forget that the cheap stuff is perfect for the basics.
    Great vid.

I genuinely believe that everyone should have a decent tool box. At least something with a set of pliers, a screwdriver with bits, and a ratchet with socket metric and imperial. A hammer too. You can get a good chunk of stuff done with that.

I used that set for years (from Harbor Freight, but it's definitely the same set). It's the most comprehensive compact ratchet set I have found in terms of sizes covered. Not the highest quality though, as you'd expect. Case isn't that great and they definitely get torn up by using them in an impact driver with an adapter. The ratchet itself is kind of crappy too. But, for the price (and even for double the price) solid set.
