The fact that slayer fired this guy is absolutely insane. Lombardo crushes this album and his drums sound fantastic. Was his way of giving Slayer a big middle finger
Dave got fired because he kept quitting. And then he expected to be welcomed back as a full time member. Not going to happen. He just pulled the sane crap on Testament
Lombardo has never sounded better than with Grip Inc! Awesome band! And Waldemar Sorychtas guitarplaying is amazing and Gus Chambers (RIP) had a great voice!
Listen to Testaments The Gathering album from 1999. Dave recorded the drum tracks on it. This stuff is better but that Testament album is very good. This was Dave at his peak. Before this band he took his drum kit home and set it up exactly the way he wanted. I think his drum tech with Slayer was a little taller than Dave and unconsciously setting it up to high. Dave is 5’ 8” plus he sits very low. Dave himself claims he was having issues playing his signature double bass beat like on War Ensemble and Angel of death, this is after that and it makes sense he sounds like he’s using triggers. He does not use triggers. I want Dave’s piccolo snare from South Of Heaven. 14” x 2.5” brass piccolo. I think he used it on Seasons in the abyss too.
I agree but I do know that in Slayer he basically had to play what he was told. I mean listen to him on all the Grip Inc recordings and Testaments, The Gathering. Awsome
lol, yeah man...the snare on this was Lars' inspiration on St Anger lol...but I dont think it was Dave's fault. SOunds like the snare strands broke off, so then it sounds like a timbale. Doesn't matter, Dave and the guys own it, take it in stride and make it happen like pros.
I supported Gus's last band Mantra Sect with my band Filthy Cake at our local bar in Coventry, The Beer Engine. He was a top bloke, very friendly and humble.
glad to see this video back on youtube! Lombardo blazing fast double bass sounds like machine gun fire! Lombardo rocks! hope to see new Grip Inc cd soon!
Incredible band, this was. Awesome players, a unique frontman and serious energy. It's so tragic that they're not around any more and how the band ended.
I was 11 when I saw this broadcasting live on televisie... I heard those bassdrums.... then... I no more was a virgin. (12 years later the band I was in played at a Dutch festival, Kabaal am Gemaal @ Wageningen where I met Gus backstage touring with his band. Then five years later that same band I was in opened for Megadeth and Slayer on April 14 2011 @ Klokgebouw Eindhoven NL, and I met Dave Lombardo (and Tom -and the Megadeth guys-. Blessed are the sick :-D )
I just figured that because he's not using microphones to bass drums, that's what I thought that thing, but in my opinion sounds fucking brutal anyway, greetings bro.
He is absolutely using triggers here, which is weird because he hasn't during the rest of his career. There are no mics in front of the kicks, and you can hear that each hit on the kicks and snare for sure are sampled because they are a perfect repeat. It's most notable when he goes fast on the feet.
I will never forget hearing ...incorporated for the first time . the only thing I could think of was....when is the next album coming out ... grip inc's finest hour , an amazing album that sadly imo never got the credit it deserved
I myself was a Gus Chambers fan and saw them live in 97 (even met the guy). Yeah, I will agree on everything you said about Gus, he was phenomenal! But he's gone and that's it. About the new guy on vocals, I don't even know who he is, I only know that they intend to get a new vocalist and release a new album. Til it's out and give it a listen, I can't judge...
Gus Chambers stage performance here is one of the best performances I ever seen. Speechless. Perfection. Just look at 03:36 when is bursting into such a wonderful and free flowing dance.
A great example of Dave being free from his limitations with Slayer. He's definitely able to show how dynamic and talented he is in this band. Leaving Slayer was a good thing because it gave us this band. And I'll take this band over Slayer any day. Because without Dave there is no Slayer
Wow, unbelievable in so so so many ways! Prolly one of the best Grip performances I've seen. Gus has charisma in his own wonderful unique way...It transcends any genre, metal, whatever...its GUS. With Lombardo the king on drums but in a more true and unique light than his previous band and Wald and Jason or no slouches themselves! Wald is a very very tasteful guitarist, writer and producer! Together, these guys had chemistry sooo special. I love Gus' marching metal dance! Check out "burn My eyes" era Rob Flynn on stage left watching!
Amazing band ...amazing PERFORMER and SINGER ... I have seen him in 1997 in Athens Rockwave... If someone has this gig please upload it GRIP INC - 1997 - Athens Rockwave
I agree, reminds me of the interview with Vinnie of Hellyeah on a pantera reunion, which he said would never happen, and I hope it doesnt. Leave it on a high note. I wouldnt mind seeing another band formed out of this, but leave Inc in the past.
It's actually Casey Chaos, not Davey. He's a punk vocalist whose been in a bunch of bands, which I will grant him, but he's no Gus. I'm afraid I'll have to bow out of anything coming out with the Grip name that isn't lead by Gus.
No Gus, no Grip. End of story. Waldemer and co. should do the right thing, and let the band die with Gus' legacy at the top of his game which are these four Grip, Inc. albums. Is nothing sacred at all?
You mean the Grip Inc. cover band with Davey Chaos on vocals? That's not Grip Inc. Gus had a presence and a voice that was unique and unmistakeable. This new shite isn't worth the time.
We got cheated from what these mfkrs could have accomplished. Try to picture ….. Hostage to Heaven…… for a complete album. You’d lose your license before you’d finished it.
Confirmed he is using triggers here, I remember there was a Modern Drummer article on him around this time that mentioned he was using an Alesis D4 module for triggering the kicks
Grip Inc, one of the most underrated metal acts of the 90"s rusty nails is fucking metal as fuck!!
indeed they were.
Right, that's was golden years of metal
The fact that slayer fired this guy is absolutely insane. Lombardo crushes this album and his drums sound fantastic. Was his way of giving Slayer a big middle finger
Money dispute....those money hungry pricks cut him out of so much
The fact slayer fired him shows how bad musically anf personally they were.... And a reason why slayer ended, and lombardo still shines...
Insanity drumming
His kit sounds really good. His bass drums sound triggered. He’s always said he doesn’t use them.
Couldn't say it better.
Listen to Testaments The Gathering album from 1999. Dave recorded the drum tracks on it. This stuff is better but that Testament album is very good.

"When I sing it, I mean it." -- Gus Chambers. RIP.
He sure did.
Such an explosive performer, really strong no bullshit, all business vocalist! This guy was all fire! God bless his soul, rip Gus!!
I saw him perform at The Rave in Milwaukee with Grip. He put on a high energy show. I was saddened when I found out he died.
2024 and Gus Chambers still means it. Think for yourself!
@@morrison1405it's sad that Gus Chambers is no longer with us. He is now immortal through his music.
Holy Shit Lombardo is on fire
the grip inc only band where i listen to drums the whole album, great voice also and song writing
Lombardo here is insane !
maybe even better than in Slayer !
no doubt, pal..=)
almost as good as in Fantomas
His performance on "The Power Of Inner Strength" is one of his most savage and tight ever.
I agree but I do know that in Slayer he basically had to play what he was told. I mean listen to him on all the Grip Inc recordings and Testaments, The Gathering. Awsome
Despite the awful recording, you can feel the insane tightness and energy on display here.
lol, yeah man...the snare on this was Lars' inspiration on St Anger lol...but I dont think it was Dave's fault. SOunds like the snare strands broke off, so then it sounds like a timbale. Doesn't matter, Dave and the guys own it, take it in stride and make it happen like pros.

Just look how many musicians from other bands came backstage to see the legendary Dave Lombardo;)
R.I.P. Gus - never forgotten by the true fans
awesome vid thnx 4 upload
I enjoy Dave's playing much more with Grip Inc than with Slayer. It's as if he is set free!
Some of Lombardos best work is on this song
glad to see this video back on youtube! Lombardo blazing fast double bass sounds like machine gun fire! Lombardo rocks! hope to see new Grip Inc cd soon!
Can't believe I never heard of these guys back in the day, Holy Fuck are they Badass! Thank "god" for TH-cams!
3:18 the coolest drum fill in the history of Lombardo
Jason Viebrooks is one badass bassist!!!!
Dave is so beast 💪
the look on Gus' face at 2:38 is pure satisfaction! love it!
one of the best thrash metal band evah
ABSOLUTELY FUCKING AMAZING double bass drumming! The speed is unbelieveable! R.I.P. Gus Chambers though. Loved this band and still do

RIP Gus, he got a great voice !
dave lombardo treggers, thats the first time I heard him with it and sound fucking amazing \m/
+sebastian sanchez he's not using triggers, it's just a really shitty recording (the toms also sound kind of like clicks too)
I just figured that because he's not using microphones to bass drums, that's what I thought that thing, but in my opinion sounds fucking brutal anyway, greetings bro.

This band is epic, I miss them so much, RIP my friend
Gus Chambers stage performance here is one of the best performances I ever seen.
Speechless. Perfection.
Just look at 03:36 when is bursting into such a wonderful and free flowing dance.

Great band. Jason Viebrooks is a beast on Bass 😎🤘
Lombardo killing it
I can´t hear the guitar :(
Does anyone remember the " Carton's Beer Rain ", on this show of Grip?? ;-)
Insane!
R.I.P. Gus!!! \m/

Full show?

it sucks these guys only had a few albums! Such a great band. They should find a new singer and keep on recording
1:04 and 1:51 the fast double bass part - was Lombardo using the swivel technique here?
fucking great vocalist
Agreed!!! 100%.
RIP Gus!!!!
1:15 white tshirt Mr. Rob Flynn from Machine Head!!! Grip Inc is amazing!!!\../
Uk punk and thrash is THE shit!!
LOMBARDO ON FIRE.
самая мрачная и тяжелая песня у Grip Inc.
Amazing band ...amazing PERFORMER and SINGER ... I have seen him in 1997 in Athens Rockwave... If someone has this gig please upload it
GRIP INC - 1997 - Athens Rockwave

Fuck Yea !!!
I'll judge when I'll hear man...

Ich war dabei 🎉😂❤
3:17
Kind of hard given the lead singer died a few years ago.
guitar!!!
Why is the audio fucked?

I know dave doesnt like triggers, but that recording sounds suspiciously like he his here ?
never used triggers...he doesn t need them anyway
Confirmed he is using triggers here, I remember there was a Modern Drummer article on him around this time that mentioned he was using an Alesis D4 module for triggering the kicks
Also note the lack of mics in front of each kick drum
ostrizized migos
Kinda wrong, as they are re-uniting with a new singer and will release a new album soon... get your facts straight ;)
What kind of metal vocalist tucks their shirt in. I'm surprised Dave Lombardo didn't smack the shit out of him before the show.
It aint about what you were or how you were it and that dude was totally true that dude was all heart and if you cant tell that your a poser!!!
I meant ware!!haha
I meant wear!!Haha
