  • Kamov Ka-32 C-GKHL of VIH Helicopters is seen starting up and taking off from CZNL in Nelson, British Columbia to perform some aerial wildfire fighting on some forest fires in the area.
    The impressive Kamov Ka32 is such a cool coaxial rotor helicopter to get to see, love this unique Russian aircraft! The Ka-32A11BC is the civilian version of the Kamov Ka-27. I love the sound of the engine start-up and takeoff as this mighty machine takes to the skies!

    Fantastic video of this impressive Kamov Ka-32!! This heavy-lift helicopter is capable of transporting 5 tons of external and 3,7 tons of internal loads. A reliable workhorse and highly appreciated for special missions especially in remote mountain areas. The beast is roaring with its stunning coaxial rotor which can be heard from far distances :) Love it too!

      Thanks so much Matt, it was great to see a couple Kamov's back at CZNL this summer! It's amazing to think they can lift 5 tons, the water buckets they carry are massive compared to most of the other helicopters that are usually operating out of Nelson. Nothing beats these Russian beasts!

    Jesse my good friend, great catch on this work horse twin rotor wing, those twin rudders for directional maneuvers also discount the need for the larger vertical rotor to keep the twin blades for lift instead of the tail spinning the rotor wing, lol, very nice start- up also pal.

    Is it just me?
    Or are these helicopters quieter than normal ones?

    • @bjet2
      @bjet2 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, most of the noise for standard layout helicopters is from the tail rotor.

    • @McRocket
      @McRocket 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bjet2 Really? From that small rotor? Weird.
      Is it a speed of sound thing? Like the tips of the small rotor blades are getting close to the speed of sound?

    • @bjet2
      @bjet2 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@McRocket It was inaccurate to say most of the noise I suppose. The tail rotor has to spin much faster compared to the main rotor in order to produce a similar counter force. The smaller faster moving blade is less efficient then the larger slower blade resulting in more wasted energy, (like noise). The higher frequency sounds of the faster spinning tail rotor is perceived as louder then the main rotor when close,(especially on video). Higher frequency sound waves dissipate faster then low frequency waves so at a distance the main rotor is much louder.
