I’m with you. I mostly look for simple patterns. I haven’t been happy with what I’ve knit this year, having ripped all of them out. I’m too perfectionist think. If I see a mistake I always try to fix it. Then end up starting over. Grrr!!! So nothing to show for 2023. Aggravating.

Kika, I got so excited when I saw the still shot introducing this video. I thought, oh my God, color on the walls!! At first, until you started speaking, and explaining, I thought that this was your home and that you had decided to change things up and put color on your walls. I got so excited at the prospect! Because I know, ever since I started watching you, that you tend towards neutrals - both in your home and in the garments that you knit. And I always think to myself “put a little color in your life.” Of course, you explained that this was just a very beautiful place that you rented to shoot the video. But I was very happy to see you in a colored sweater on camera. You really do look very good in colors. I recall seeing you in a blue sweater, and now this one on camera - you look great in colors!! And you really look very good in a pink room!
Of course, I love everything you design. I have yarn specifically set aside to make a few of the designs that you included in your first book, although I first had actually gone to Ravelry to see your designs up close (see, I’m already looking forward to a second book!). I’ve had to modify some of my plans for what I can knit, because unfortunately, I’ve had to work on teaching myself how to knit again. I had a botched surgery on my left arm that caused severe nerve damage in my left hand that initially rendered it almost useless, and then a minor stroke to top it off. I was devastated, but also determined that this was not going to be the end of knitting for me.
Every day, I’ve sat with a couple of straight needles and some old Worsted yarn that I’ve had laying around to use knitting as my therapy. At first, I couldn’t even hold the needle in my left hand, but I’ve persisted. I’ve been working on increasing the strength and function in my hands by trying to form knit stitches, using several different knitting methods to see what works best for me with how my fingers can move, as well as my own weird modifications! I’m getting there! Have you tried Portuguese knitting? If you have, I’d love to hear your take on this knitting method. I’d actually started experimenting with it before all this happened, and found it to be a much easier way to knit, with less strain on the hands. You’re still very young, so maybe your hands don’t bother you yet even with all of the knitting that you do!
I will not give up on knitting. It is the joy of my life right now. And I cannot wait to come into next fall wearing at least one of your sweater designs. Keep those new designs coming!

I was actually knitting on my Arctic Light Sweater whilst watching this video. It’s definitely the most challenging project I’ve ever knitted, but it’s beautiful and I can’t wait to show it off. Not long now, I’m on the second sleeve! 🎉 I have the yarn ready to make 2 Lola tops. They are on my todo list next. I also have the merino for the Salty Days Sweater, but still need to buy the mohair. I’ll be doing that one in a Summer yellow! 💛 What can I say, I love your designs lol. I think the O la la top would look really good in a sparkle yarn, any color, but like a white or off white sparkle, or a black sparkle. Your wedding dress was where I saw you first.
