Just got the Korg opsix and volca fm and love fm...Arturia DX7 is amazing...These are the tones I been seeking for many years...I bought many synths chasing the FM sounds and never knew....Better late then never!
Good explanation. I was into electronic music in the late 80's with my own basic MIDI keyboard, FB-01 and effects unit and Amstrad CPC6128, trying to reproduce Jean Michel Jarre! What a long time ago. I never owned a true synth but I got to use a DX7 a little in a music club at college in perhaps 1988. I had no idea how to use FM synthesis and couldn't make any useful sounds. They had the gear but no-one to teach, no internet of course, and too much pressure on limited equipment. I guess there was a manual(?) or I couldn't understand it. Not sure what happened the club but it didn't last long. Tragic loss.
Thx for the tutorial, just got to the part where you explain modulator and carrier. Correction: a saw is not supposed to be created when a sine modulates a sine. Not sure where you got that impression, but as you stated, if you look at the oscilloscope wave shape or a spectral analyzer, it is not a saw. Now a single sine feeding back into itself DOES create a saw… however, this is not the same as an external sine modulating a sine. Ok, back to the video.
A great explanation of FM synthesis. Thanks!
thanks for showing us how fm synthesis works 👍👍
Please upload more FM tips there is such little video help out there past the fundamentals
Good idea I’ll put that in the TODO list

Very informative, especially the part on the feedback.
Thanks, great stuff as always.

Great video
Hey good work! Very practical. Any tips on layering or overlapping of sounds?
I'll put that in a follow up video.
Great video! Love the beard🤘
Thanks. I’m kinda testing it.
