DMs really pissed me off with this. So sloppy. One thing you can always bet on with da 100’ is the laser precision and accuracy of the DMs. WTH happened here? Needs work - immediately, meaning get together and practice today, tomorrow, and every day until you’re in sync on the counts, and can stand on one leg without losing your balance. You’re better than this.

@@lsubandtrumpet2014 ABSOLUTELY proud of my 100 sister who made head DM. I've watched her do her thing and she's good...however, those of us who have come through the ranks have been through the 110 degree weather through pre-drill, practices, parades, and games, and temperature was NEVER an excuse. This was a constructive critique, no one was bashing them. I'm sure they heard worse afterwards.

I feel you. Just remember we all have had mistakes, only make those realize only the best is all away learning.
This was uncomfortable to watch. The DM in front was sharp! The two in the back seemed like they lacked confidence, almost like they were new to this. The two in the middle.....they just need a lot of prayer 🤦🏽♂️ 🤦🏽♂️.
Maurice Granger the DM in the front messed up the tempo with the whistle the two in the back kept going with the rest of the band. The two in the middle followed the front DM’s off beat whistle. But in all they need to practice that from goal line to goal every day. Smh
The girl drum major at least wasn't shaky legs like the guys but she led them into trouble because her other drum majors were mad hing to different tempos

DMs, if two of the five look bad you all look bad! Im being nice this time, this is inexcusable for this band with such a rich history of FAMU Drum Majors as well as the band. Yall need to practice until ya gaddamn legs fall off and just when the fall off reattach and do again until you vomit. When ya done puking ya guts practice somemore. DONT PRACTICE TIL YOU GET IT RIGHT, BUT PRACTICE TIL CAN'T GET IT WRONG! REAL TALKA THIS IS NOT THE FAMU DMs that I remember and I'm a fan of "all" HBCU Marching Bands (got that and that includes the small bands too...don't sleep on them, cause they can give yall hell too). Ok I'm done....for now!

Actually from what I can tell. The 2 “off” looking drum majors are off because they didn’t adjust but they did keep the tempo that the head DM set. The reason I say this is if you watch and listen to the tempo set by the head DM and ignore the drum section. Only going by the tempo the head DM set say the counts out loudly ( 1,E,&, a) you’ll see that the 2 drum majors stayed on beat every step. You’ll also notice that there is someone yelling out the counts on the sideline. When count out loudly from when she sets the tempo your counts and the person yelling the counts should line up perfectly with each other which incidentally lines up with the steps of the 2 drum majors. What I believe happened is that the percussion section started to rush and you he remaining 3 drum majors adjusted to the percussion section’s tempo but the two off looking drum majors didn’t adjust. They decided to follow what the head DM set in terms of the tempo. You can even see it in their face because when the guy is yelling the counts they look at each other -as in why is he yelling at us, were Right. Don’t blame the drum majors blame the percussion section for not laying back enough
I have given up on any hope of this great tradition returning. It pains me to say this, but unless they get off of the pride of maintaining EVERYTHING about the Dr. W.P. Foster (THE LAW, THE GREATEST), they will fade into obscurity. Today's kids cannot maintain that level of discipline so FAMU is going to have to enhance some of those traditions or just let them go. I know they work hard, but it is no longer enough to be superior (like they once were) to other band programs that have improved and surpassed the "100". It hurts me to say that because I am a life-long, die-hard FAN. #HBCULOVE #FAMUbaby #MOREHOUSEMan

I don’t know what this is supposed to look like, but I can guess that what I just saw wasn’t it!🤦🏾♂️ I’m sure they will fix it, but whatever that was wasn’t ready for the public’s eye... Game day is to show off your hard work and preparation from band camp and weekly rehearsals. I know the pressure it takes to do this when unprepared , because I was a Jackson State University drum major 03-04. We learned moves late Friday night most times, because we were to busy with the Boom at rehearsal... but you would never know that on game day! After seeing this video in HD I’m sure that squad doesn’t want to have another outing like this one.

I've been a huge fan of the Marching 100 since I moved to Florida in 1959 (not a typo, lol). I've never seen the DMs and the rest of the band look so awful. I'm going to watch some pre-2000 videos to help me unsee this one. Could I do what they do? No way! On the other hand, I've never claimed to be worthy of the Marching 100's legacy.

Jukebox plays when their football team shows up. PERIOD! The Jukebox isn't really a four-year marching band; it's a living entity. The band directors for the last 50-years were band students there. The band students went to SU's high school band camps. That's a long CONTINUOUS legacy of DISCIPLINE & ORGANIZED methods for creating EXCELLENT musicians. Band section leaders do some of the musical arrangements. They share this "cycle of dominance" in marching band history w/JSU. FAMU keeps rolling over & showing it's tender underbelly. That jaguar or the tiger will gobble them up. Once the Jukebox member is suited up, they are on display. This FAMU band had members milling about & not in any kind of formation. The Juke always has a task and is on task. Every HBCU band could learn from that. Fake the confidence if you don't believe in yourself.
So another season the DM’s sloppy please don’t tell me the one that couldn’t hold his stance last year is still marching

The Death March was invented by a school in Montgomery, AL over 60 years ago, Booker T. Washington High School. Band players had to do 100 steps a minute while playing the instrument. Then Alabama State University started doing it and from there, it spread to other colleges and universities.
100 bpm doesn’t sound like the death march... or the rattler... the death march is super slow, each step is a few seconds apart from the next. These concepts don’t sound the same...

That is soooooo incorrect. Check your history. Dr. Foster started 'Slow One' while he was Band Director at Florida A&M. Everything Alabama State does is a result of their founder Dr. Lyles who was an Associate Band Director under Dr. Foster for years.

Get out there and see what you can do. Some comments ate terrible. Remember they are first college students. Band is an extracurricular program. Those students are somebody’s son, daughter, and family member. If you are complaining and seems like you can do better, get out there. If you graduated from FAMU, they do have an alumni band. Get out there, and see if you can do it better.

T Henson our tubas don’t rattle (fast march) with their mouth pieces in the horn.......They insert the mouth pieces in the horn once they have fallen into ranks when the fast cadence is over.......

FAM sound is still good, Need to work on fundamentals: marching style, field show, and dance routines. Chip pls look at old films (80s n 90s) to regain that energy and pizzazz the 100s once possessed.
That was internal band member Energy & Pride...Upperclassmen checks & balances/accountability .... the band director really can't instill that of Energy!
It all went downhill when the DM circle turned to a Octazoid. Btw where was the Head DM going, he left the rest? Thank god for the musicianship.
