No matter what style of music they teach, ALL music educators could learn A LOT from Florida A&M University. I hope you guys offer some kind of continuing education classes for peop;e who are already in the music education field.....and if you do, I hope your classes are overflowing full of students, and "wait-listed" applicants.
As a former member (Drum Major) for the Hampton University Marching Force, I salute your dad and all of the trailblazing members of the original 100. My former Hampton Band Director was Dr. Sylvester Young, who marched under Dr. Foster and who would later become Director of Bands at FAMU. Dr. Young taught us so much, which I'm sure is because of what he learned at FAMU. God bless you Dad who was a trailblazer for many.....
I have nothing against FAMU but SU is the better band. I can remember that year when FAMU didn't have a band when SU played them. SU spelled FAMU on the field at haftime out of respect. The song SU played was by Al Green "Lets Stay Together"
EVERYONE that knew my Father knew how much he LOVED The Marching 100 and how proud he was to be amongst the first band to start the dancing with the instruments and the implementation of Dr. Foster’s techniques. He was so glad that he was from FAMU!!! 🧡💚
I was fighting back the tears from all the great memories I had being apart of the marching 100,great job like always FAMU keep up the excellent work 👏!!!!!
As a SCSU marching 101 fan. This is why I love the MEAC Their members are not just in the band, They are musicians!!!!! The musical accuracy and instrument isolations are out of this world. Awesome job FAMU 👏🏾👏🏾
Wow .... Famu represented very well .. this is how it's done . So far in 2022 Famu represented, and Tennessee state represented very well at the rose bowl parade.. keep it coming HBCU'S .. ain't no stopping us now, we're on the move
I love this! Congratulations to all FAMU band members AND Dr.Shelby Chipman for doing such a WONDERFUL job keeping up the traditions while raising the standards of what has Always been an AMAZING Band/Music Program! I grew up on this! My Middle School and H.S. Band Directors were FAMU Grads.
We love you FAMU. I'm a proud single parent of Jordan on Bass. From Faith's Place Afterschool Arts and Education. Thank you Mrs. Mays from Faith's Place and Dr. Chipman.
Yes be proud of your accomplishments , to you and baby on Bass! I’m a single parent of two girls in high school both are incredibly talented musicians! One is a flute player and has her sights on FAMU 🐍 🤞 , we’ll see after Summer 2022 band camp!!
Most HBCU’s perform without music in front of them. At my school (Central State University), when we first get the music, we play it over and over (each time with a different critique to make it sound as good and clean as possible) until we can play it from memory. Now imagine doing that for 80+ songs.
Sheet music isn’t allowed on the field. After predrill, we used to shake the tree and if you didn’t know the music and your marching wasn’t up to par, you didn’t march on the field. I marched in the 100 in the 90s playing piccolo. Hubba 100!!
I would like to thank UNC for bringing two great bands together. I enjoy FAMU. I would recommend there band to come to the Caroliba Panthers Stadium and put a half time show at the football game.. MAKE THAT HAPPEN!
On stage now that intro cadence was it, that’s our traditional cadence played fast, that cadence was written by MASTER SARGENT Henry McNair USAF from Dillard high school, though he wrote it he joined the military and his band mate from his drum line at Dillard introduced it to FAMU unfortunately he was buried this past Saturday 11/19.
Southern university, Jackson State, and all the rest of the college marching bands can’t touch this SOUND. Even though Southern is my Favorite of all time!
It us an ARRANGEMENT! with a key change to highlight the depth of this bands phenomenal skill, and to make the song interesting. Not one band will play it like what you hear on the radio.
I swear to you this band ALWAYS understands the assignment!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
And they bring it!!😁💚🧡

OMG!! They hit the highs, the lows and everything in between! Best band in the land. Then again I'm a biased alumnus.
No bias FAM!! I am a Grambling alum and they sound fantastic!! SWAC love.
SU Jukebox can do it all. That's why they are the BEST!!!
Sorry SU, you only wish, that musicianship is by far better than anything y’all could ever produce, and I’ve heard both bands since the 70s.

How proud I am of those young musicians. Everything about them reeks excellents. They absolutely represented their school, and black culture.
It is this type of diversity that makes America great when you can celebrate the differences.
It's not about just black culture. It is about music and band culture. Skin color means nnothing.

Woodwinds in Invictus 🔥
Ok y’all brought it off with the right cadence, now that sounded good, Thats it, the rattler cadence by Henry McNair, Dillard High School.
I can hear them practice on the playground of my daycare facility.
I would pay to see them practice.
Thank you!! ❤
Excellence!!! ❤️🙌🏾🔥
NO other band sounds purer, ever!!
9:10 is the best part in this entire video 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

If you have heard one band play it correctly because it had to be arrange for a large band to attempt to play it as close to the singers as possible.
