    We LOVE SCM history! We will be starting our second year this month (we started with early modern) and I am already planning things for the following year as well! haha. Going to be moving into MUS also this year and I'm hoping it eliminates a lot of the fights over math!

    Thank you for sharing the realness of homeschooling! It's been a crazy year for us as well. We didn't accomplish all that I wanted, and I felt a bit of a mess too, BUT it is such a blessing to be at home with my sweet children.

      Yes! It’s such a blessing to homeschool. I’m also trying to remember that they’ve made progress in learning this year and that’s a win! ❤️

    Such a joy to see you! So happy for the news of your adoption. I know that had to be so exciting to hear that sweet news. I love seeing how positive you are and know that you are enjoying each and every day. We are so lucky to be home with our children and see all that goes on. Those moments of learning, relationships, playing, and loving on your family are so worth it. So happy for you. Homeschooling is a journey, find what works for your little ones and keep going. I am a mama to five 14-3 and I have learned that its ok to switch things as needed. Seeing everyone happy and excited to learn is what makes it all just so wonderful. Would love to see more about the meals that you make on these busy days. I am struggling a bit with that at the moment. Seasons change and kiddos are growing a lot... so in need of some meals and snacks. We do two different sessions for school and I really enjoy simple meals.

    Loved hearing about SCM. We're switching back this coming year and diving into middle ages. Praying for your beautiful family ❤

    You did great! You had a lot going on, but you still managed to get a significant amount of homeschooling done. I really enjoyed listening to you share a glimpse of your life.

    Congratulations on the new addition to your family, what blessing! Sounded like a great year to me! :) (But yes, so busy!) and Yes, homeschool families learn to be flexible! Some seasons you get to enjoy all the extras, and other seasons you just make it through the basics. We’re looking forward to summer with great anticipation, me especially. We do not homeschool year round, I find we really need a break, but I still focus on certain areas of academic struggle (reading/math) balanced with fun. I really want to find a good Bible survey curriculum I can incorporate next year. (And yay, that Children’s Story Bible by Vos is on our fireplace mantle right now). We’ve only done Bible in personal and family worship. Do you have recommendations? My kids that are schooled at home will be 2nd grade to 6th grade. Blessings on you all! You’re doing a great job, Peggy!

      Thanks so much for your encouragement, Jessica! It’s always great to hear from you. ❤️
      I haven’t done a Bible survey curriculum, so I don’t have a recommendation there. We have enjoyed working through the Bible one book at a time and using the Children’s Story Bible. I hope you find something! ❤️

    I completely understand. My homeschool year started off well but ended badly. Homeschooling with a toddler was a challenge, my husband change jobs twice, worked the night shift, and now my husband is about to be out of a job. We were sick, our A/C went out and struggled with so many disappointments and life situations. So, this year was a really rough year for us.

      We’ve had a similar year - just full of really hard life events and difficult changes in circumstances and our homeschool felt that. I’m sorry you’ve had a hard year too! No words of wisdom but know you aren’t not alone!

    When you said that you completed Delightful Reading and then started on the readers, did you do all the Delightful reading kits first (1-3)?

    • @peggystarling
      @peggystarling  ปีที่แล้ว

      We completed Delightful Reading Level 2 and then went on to the pathway readers to practice reading. This has worked well for us so far. I tried Level 3 but we found it too repetitive. That might be right for some, but not for my first 2 children. I also haven’t used Level 1 because my kids have known their letters and sounds by the time I’m ready for them to start Delightful Reading Level 2. I’m considering buying Level 1 for my younger children, though.

      Thank you, this is helpful! My oldest is almost 6 and I think we’ll be coming in at Delightful Reading 2 as well!
