Love the raw unfiltered sharing, guys... thank you for doing this. Your new boat look amazing and now hopefully fully prepped for all the big adventures ahead! Fair winds!
Sooo excited to watch this voyage! Thanks heaps for generously taking us along. The boat looks beautiful and I hope the weather is too. If you have time I would love to regularly hear the current battery percentage and usage figures…. what was the last days biggest user etc. Will you have radar on, have you mastered squall spotting on the radar, stuff like that is fascinating to me at least. :) Bon voyage to two lovely people on a truly beautiful and capable boat. May the sea gods smile on you and the Orcas find other places to be. :)
Orcas: I have been following everything that is happening in Gilbratar, and until now the only case I know of an effective measure was a Spanish catamaran that, upon seeing the orcas approaching, put it in reverse at maximum speed. The orcas seemed surprised and retreated without having bitten any of the rudders. I think it's the best way to scare them away,
Thanks for this info. Worth trying if the sea state allows and if you have the time as I've read that recent attacks were really quick, by the time you see them it's too late.

Hey. Love the idea of the quick learning to sail this boat idea! You do have dagger boards correct? I would love to see stats that demonstrate dagger boards in then dagger boards out, etc. I know they make a difference, but it would be fun to have that difference demonstrated "real time". Just a thought. Thanks
So thankful for you sharing such valuable informations. From my side, the more detailed information you would provide the more interesting it is as I am making preparation for similar trip. So food, but which food, how much. Fuel - how many liters, how many liters of water etc etc. Of coursse everthing will depend on different people and etc, it would be interesting to learn about your choises and decisions. Also later on what is the thinking behind routing and planning the routes. Once again thank you so much and you are an inspiration and as well what a great boat you have!
Bon voyage! Let's hope that the crazy weather eases off. And no crazy Orcas around Gibraltar. I'll try to follow your daily posts. I'm definitely more of a monohull type, even the long keel, heavy displacement type. Slow(er), but with a smoother ride in choppy seas.
A bit commitment, and thank you, this will be fascinating. And other than the big multi boat races, I dont believe it's ever been done in real time. I'll be here watching! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Great videos guys, fantastic job. We will be following you. How worried are you about the orca situation ? We are planning the same on our new 45 and are based in mallorca at the moment but it really seems a horrible risk to get hit by the orcas passing Gibraltar 🙈
@@SailingAWEN I’ll be following you and best of luck to both of us.. great informal videos though guys your doing a Stella job and I hope to cross paths one day 👍
Anyone thought of transmitting an underwater high frequency sound/noise to scare them off ? Just a thought. - or firing an underwater very pistol which is more complicated
Today you can buy pingers but not sure they work that well. There is something similar in the work, specifically for orcas, but it's currently under testing.
I love the daily vlog style on crossing. It’s a lot of work, if you have to miss a day don’t sweat it. Don’t get burnt out.
Thanks, great advice.🙏

Merci... I used to be the monohull type... until you try a true performance cruising cat like an Outremer. Immediate conversion!
Una travesía preciosa . Yo la he hecho ya tres veces hasta Gran Canaria . Puertos estupendos donde parar en el camino .
Bien, nuestra primera vez.
Let the adventure begin. Can’t wait to see her under full sail , Cliff from Logan City Queensland Australia 🇦🇺🧑🏾🦽
G'day to our second biggest group of followers after the US.
This is going to be a great trip to watch day by day. How close to real time are you?
We will post same day, that’s the plan at least!

Thanks for putting these together. Just an idea... put the date at the start of the video.
Good idea!
you dont know what you dont know... plan and prepare the obvious and then just leave or you be tied to the dock forever. happy sailing!

It’s not fun to think about but it’s a matter of statistics. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
