  • In this weeks Q&A we answer the following questions:
1.56 - How is our countertop holding up?
3.39 - How many times have we hit our head on our bimini bolts?
5.11 - Why did we not buy a boat in Australia?
7.14 - Do we ever come across shipping containers or fishing buoys while sailing at night?
8.48 - Has the fish population and reef been degrading or depopulating?
12.43 - Do we ever get blase about new, amazing anchorages after 2.5 years of sailing?
15.12 - Where does a man find a woman to work on an engine?
17.07 -How do we fund our cruising life?
22.28 - Do we love, like or just tolerate the Millennial Falcon?

I never get tired of wondering what Khiara is going to look like in each consecutive video, head down and covered in grease in one episode, looking like a super-model in the next! The one consistent factor is how much she enjoys both states! You are a very lucky chap Adam!

I think that it is vitally important that you two (and this goes for a number of young couples who are cruising full time and publishing your travels on TH-cam) should publish a number of episodes about how much saving you have had to do. It is also apparent to viewers that TH-cam is like a Golden Egg, but it needs to be detailed that there are possibly many people who have tried to be supported in this way, and have come unstuck. I have never tried to do this, but the couples who I have followed have marvellous personalities, and have the good fortune for at least one partner to be visually attractive. You pointed out (and it needs to be emphasised) that it takes several years of TH-cam publishing to begin to earn enough to live on. More than one couple have adopted a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle, which is much cheaper to live on than a carnivorous one. Your Q&A was excellent and possibly needs to be repeated. I am also Aussie, and love watching your series. Thank you very much, watching your adventures has ‘made my day’!

Totally true about the trust factor...when I was a boy we lost the prop on our boat in a storm very far from home...got a 7 hour rescue tow from a couple on their honeymoon...my dad ended up selling the boat shortly thereafter as it was just never the same....even with the motor totally overhauled we were never able to get back the joy of it. Your channel has got me looking at boats again. So thank you 🙂☠👾❤

Hi don't know what your plans are for the future if you are headed north or staying in the Caribbean. My wife and I run a small custom woodworking shop on the island of Roatan if you come down this way we make endgrain cutting boards from Honduran hardwood and would like to give the two of you one for the boat. Also show you around our island home. Hope all is well keep your heads up and keep having a great time.

Trust is something which is earned.
The intimacy you develop with anything is gained through experience after having worked on it before or having it stripped down to the smallest pieces.
Fear and distrust is just a fear of the unknown.
How often have you procrastinated over something only to scold yourself after leaping in and finding none of what you dreaded.
You may wish you had some spares but the experience will teach you not to make that mistake again.
I like the idea of naming things because affectionately calling her Millie who needs some tlc is way better than saying the bloody boat needs sinking.
    Attitude is everything.
I once worked with a bear of a man contracting to mines in the middle of nowhere beyond the black stump in Australia. We'd work seven day weeks quite often for months in temperatures into the 40's.
Everyday we'd question what we were doing especially late into the afternoons at the end of our tether when my off sider would break out singing "The Teddy Bears Picnic" or the like because his wife ran a daycare centre and he knew all the songs.
    Attitude is everything.

Great answers, and for SOME reason, You two are the Only ones we can listen to the Q&A’s from😱
The reason you Are where you are is, 5:10 “it’s the Best place in the whole World 🌎 to learn too sail” at and be fixen your boat at, the Caribbean ✅. We also know how you feel @ 22:50 as we are the same way with our old Jeep TJ, though JEEP stands for, “just, empty every pocket” just like a Boat, in our 70’s that’s what we have that every time we see it parked in the backyard we have to stop and admire it, the TJs were the Best looking Wranglers 😎👍

I really loved the section detailing the relationship with the boat as a person. I can actually see the way that would work, both during the simple times and the challenging times. A wonderful observation on your parts that is so true. You count on each other so much and get rewarded for what you put in with reliability and protection as the payback. If you don't put it in, the boat degrades and you end up with less trust by default.

We have the same agreement you do with your's, my promise to her that I'll take care of her if she takes care me. It's worked really well thus far. I'll be cleaning the heat exchanger and changing her coolant soon, buying her a genoa and devising ways to continually pamper her. In our day, fresh bread only happened on a Sunday and Wednesday as that was the only days the baker fired up, the days between the bread got staler with each passing day. To make stale bread seem fresher, just stand the slices over your cup of tea or coffee for a short time, hey presto freshish bread. Warning:- cut the mould off first.

Question, maybe for your next q&a. Is dynema rope rigging a thing for a boat the size of milly? It wasn’t when I had a yacht but things change in 15 years and I could see being able to cut your own rigging as pretty useful. Especially if you could standardise the size a keep a roll onboard. I’m sorry you got stuck waiting, because fun as your videos are I think you need to go somewhere new and get a bit closer to melbourne.

Have you thought about a Patron Raffle? I have no idea how it would work, but for every $1 donated is one entry. So $10 is 10 and so forth. Say until the end of October. Now for the Prize. A sail with the two of you. For 5 or 7 days. We all love your show, but this could be a way to thank one lucky Patron. So for the month of October you'd have a raffle. Keep up the great work.

We’d like to do something like that and I think the boat is now up to snuff where its not likely (can’t promise that it won’t) break down on people during their stay! 😁
But honestly, travelling is still so limited at the moment I think people will have a hard time flying to the boat. Aussies for instance cant even fly out of the country unless the govt approves their reason and those flying from USA to Grenada have to do 14 days of quarantine before being allowed around the island. I’m hoping that next year travelling will be a little easier and then I think it’ll be great to have people aboard!

Unless you only like thin-crust pizza, a "pizza-absence" panic attack IS a fresh bread-absence panic attack.

@ 15:39 This is a lovely story and beautifully told. Thank you. :-) Without a shadow of a doubt Adam is a true prince of Australia and it is a blessing that he passed the interview, but, and without diminishing this fact in any way whatsoever, what I have been wondering for so long is, Khiara, how is it that you did not come to the attention of one of the princes of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland?

Thanks for sharing your lives with us. Will be great when you can get out and about more. Maybe put some stainless steel dome nuts on any threads sticking out on the boat. They look good and also stop you loosing skin when you do scrape your body over them. Glad you are refraining from the table banging Adam. NEXT we work on the UMM's LOL only kidding Stay safe Fair winds & regards from the UK.
