  • My Hydroponic Corn has been looking unhappy. The stems stayed green but the leaf portion is turning yellow. All other plants are doing great! BUT WHY???
Check this out and see what I did wrong and why. Understanding the Nutrients for your plants is key for your Kratky or DWC (Deep Water Culture) grow systems. Special thanks goes out to Kris of Master Blend for helping me figure out what was going wrong with my corn.

Thank you, I am getting ready to transfer my corn into a 10 gallon bucket. Can you tell me how you measure your chemicals as you mix them? How much product are you putting in for your 5 gallons of water?
    Thanks

I follow Masterblend recommendations 12g x 6g x 12g formulat per 5 gallons. 1/3 young I reduce to roughly 50% levels ang gradually increase each nutrient change until the tassel starts to appear. It's usually around 2000~2500ppm at this point. Once the tassel is developed enoungh I apply the tassel pollen to the nodes to start the cobbs and bump up the nutrient to 3500ppm.
On another note. Make sure you use a big enough base of medium to allow the corn to stand. I did a test with a 3in and 6 inch rockwool base and the 6 inch performed and grew much better! I also use a large air stone for oxygen in the nutrient. Each nutrient change i decreased the volume/water level by 2 inches to start the air root process until the level was a little over half or 60- 65%.
