I bought the Storm brand new in 2012...almost 10 years ago and 50,000, I would have had more miles but in 2018 I spent 3 months in the hospital and another year learning how to walk and just this year have I finally been able to mount her....I can't really tell you what a great feeling after all that time...back in the saddle again... Anyway I have owned Triumph and BSA since 1971...BSA is just a Triumph motor on a BSA frame...I had a 2002 or was it 3...Speedmaster bought new and put 50,000 miles on in 10 years..I traded for the Storm...I can say the same for both bikes. I have had no problems and the Storm was what I have been waiting for TRIUMPH to build for the past 50 years...Triumph nailed it on the Storm....
I've had a 2016 Storm for about two years now, done lots of mods, No reliability problems, engine and trans are magic, handles better then any other cruisers i've owned ( about 12 since 1973 ). The only thing I don't like is the rear suspension ( I'm220 pounds ) haven't been able to find an after market suspension for it but I'm still looking. Very good bike.
Thanks for all of the feedback. I haven't been doing much riding due to work and the rain down here in S. Florida. I did take it for a ride after work yesterday, and just took it over 1,200 miles. Rides as good as ever, just feels absolutely great being back on it. I still have ZERO complaints and everything is fantastic. I love this bike more than when I first got it, and I have no issues with it at all. No plans for exhausts, previously rode GSX-R, no racing on it, matte black is sensitive.
I came so close to getting one.. ended up with another Harley, BUT if I can get a couple of my bikes sold this spring im going to add one of these..... or the rocket 3.. another absolutely amazing bike! Triumph has it together!
had a similar experience with local "big bike" dealers.... the triumph dealer( Empire Cycle) really wanted my business... and I'm in love with my T-bird!
Great clip. I was at the same dealership, picking up parts for my Speed Triple. I saw this bike and couldn't keep my eyes off if. Between those visuals and your posting, my being in the market for one may come sooner than I thought.
Dude hank you so much for posting a vid of the triumph thunderbird storm !!! there arent many videos out there of this bike and reviews or exhaust vids, can you please make more of these categories !? Thanks again ! great video !
I have the same bike - love it. I was coming from sports bikes and can say this handle really well - you'll be scraping the pegs with ease! It feels small and nimble when moving. You have to get the triumph shorty exhausts they sounds great - not loud just a deeper rumble ;)
The matte paint is very cool looking and I love that. But you can't wax it, and you can't even use soap with wax in it, otherwise the finish would get splotchy... And even if it gets a small or fine scratch, there's no buffing it out... Other than the maintenance and lack of corrective actions on it, I love the look.
I've been looking at a lot of the same bikes you studied and now the Indian Scout is in the mix. I think the ergos on this one will win out in the end for me.
Triumph and indian are two manufacturs that should of put harley out of business back in the late 40's. But Our Great American Gov. thought that because harley made a cheap bike they won the Gov. bidding during WW2. It's to bad because Triumph is leaps and bounds better than Harley and I ride a Honda so don't think I'm being biased against Harley. Working on bikes all my life (I'm 45) I understand quality and ease of ownership.
Originally I was going to get the Fat Bob, then by a stroke of luck the HD dealership made a mistake in not getting the bike delivered down from Daytona... But I never knew this bike (Storm) existed...That night I was doing more Fat Bob research and found this awesome machine. I loved the look and loved the performance stats on it. I loved that it was different from the norm and actually pretty rare. Just google "Triumph Thunderbird Storm vs", and several will pop up.
Nice bike . How are you finding the matt paint? I have a 2011 gloss black. I replaced the bars with the new Triumph bars painted black made a big difference. Enjoy
You realize in the 50s and 60s, the British bikes were the fast bikes and HD were the, ummm slouches. With all this retro things going on, HD got into the retro mood. They are again the slouches !
I haven't actually done any racing on it, though against the bikes you mentioned, I think the weight would be a limiting factor (not familiar with the XR1200). And I thought the VROD was made for the strip? Maybe the Storm could take it in the weaving back roads, but I don't really know. Anyways, racing is what my car is for!!!
Ive got 26000 miles on my 2011. im trying to get a vid going down the drag strip but keep forgetting the gopro when i go. My engine broke in quite nicely and i went from trapping at 95-97mph to trapping 99-101mph last weekend. HD's cant keep up minus the vrod or xr1200.
97hp 115lb ft torque Remove cat ,slip on some Hogslayers and give it a tune. Easily makes another 10% power or , 90 hp @ the wheel and 108 torque @ the wheel
@@alainbrisebois8334 With the tors pipe the HP air filter and dealer installed remap and performance tune on the dyno, they got 111HP and 130 pounds of torque.

Update - found a rear suspension from a company called Progressive, Turns out the Storm uses the same shocks as the Rocket.
please make some vids of your tbird🙏
The double headlights and handle bars make it look so sweet
You got a better bike than a Harley Mate, well done.

Best bike I've owned for doing burn outs. Great bike, no issues what-so-ever.

That bike looks freaking fantastic.
Very cool bike. The dual headlights do it for me.
Bought mine yestarday. Hope to take delivery tomorow, can't wait.
neat play on your name and a great bike too!

thats one of the reasons i bought the commander instead.
Love it! Want one, but might not be appropriate for a new rider. Taking MSF course soon.

Thanks so much. I really love it!
Absolute beauty...in a very badass way..! Congrats..
Excellent review buddy, well done 👍
You made the right choice... Best Cruiser out there... A riders bike! :)
Follow up review coming. Thanks for the interest.
The Thunderbirds gave me some weird feelings, i may be physically in love with a machine
LOL
Just bought one better than me harleys it's a crime there no longer made big mistakes from triumph hope your still enjoying yours

In my follow up, I'll definitely be more thorough and detailed.

Nice job on this. Thanks for posting. Beautiful bike.
They will be in my follow up review.
Nice to know you appreciate British engineering , not them useless Harley Davison rubbish

I rode a GSX-R600 years ago... While this is a cruiser, it motors like a sport bike...
Yes, yes... It is time for a follow up review. Work is still super crazy right now, but with the 3-day weekend, maybe I'll do one... I'll keep posted.

I really wouldn't liken it to anything really. It's the lone parallel twin, looks big and beefy, but has good power and handles very nicely.
Thanks for the comments. I'll try to do a follow up to this one soon. Been working a lot and not doing too much pleasure riding.
love your style Bro.
Just need the shorty exhausts.
I'll start and try to do a drive by in the follow up.
Do you have a video with your saddlebags on? I have a Storm too and thinking about hard bags.
Thanks a lot! So, are you track to get your Storm, or did you already get it?
You still have the bike? Looking at adding a blue 2010 to my garage, which has a Street and Speed Triple waiting on a cruiser.
Yes, it's far overdue... Coming very soon.

Thank you! I love it!
We enjoy with this bike and i have ride more than 2000 km without problem
That's pretty much my perfect bike.
How has it held up? I'm presume you still have it?
I've had one for a year now, best bike I've owned.
Can you sort of make a comparison of this bike with HD Fat Bob? I mean, why did you chose this bike instead of GD Fat Bob
Thank you!
Unfortunately there isn't a Triumph dealer within 100 miles of me.

Time to do another review?
Thank you for saying "foot pounds of torque" instead of 'pound feet'.
Is it comfortable?
A better choice. HD has a thick head.
I believe he did explain why he got this over fat bob
i WANT !!! but here in Australia they want $23,000 aud. about 20,000 us. FUCK !!!!!!
1700 has 95 hp 1600 has 85
98 HP, 111HP with the tor pipe.
@@tms372 Its the torque that is amazing 115 f/lbs !!
@@alainbrisebois8334 With the tors pipe the HP air filter and dealer installed remap and performance tune on the dyno, they got 111HP and 130 pounds of torque.
@@tms372 I wonder what would be the spec on my Storm with hp air filter and the cat bypassed and the original long pipes.
They snoozed and loozed...GD primadonnas.
HD sucks
Awesome looking ride dude...
