I just love the travel format, of Ringling Brothers, Barnum and Bailey Circus. Back in days when their Circus, was extraordinary period. Nothing less!! For those 100 plus yrs of entertainment, putting on the Ritz in NY, was definitely more than a crowd pleaser. The 50's, 60's, 80's, on up throughout. Their Circus back then in NYC, at Madison Sq. Garden was sensational. Really enjoyed nostalgia at its best. The early train era then, Penn Central, NY/New Haven/Hartford Railroad. All of the glitz and glamor, for true bonafide NYers who thrived, with the Circus gala of exquisite, mesmerizing feats of performances above and beyond. Elephants, Tigers, Bears, Dogs, Horses, etc. Ringling Brothers was the heart of NYC, and their following worldwide. Nothing could take that shine, because the happiness of appea,l kept crowds gleaming, screaming for more. Nonstop! Each time in March & April, of the traditional Easter recess, for the children of New York, their parents, friends, VIP's, celebrities alike. Exhibiting excellence throughout endlessly! I marvel over those times experiencing, every moment of gratifying sensational feelings, of savoring it all like good flavor, in food. The finest ever, the essence of history in the making. Smile. Although seeing the last of Ringling Brothers itself, in this sad curtain call, as when the lights are dimmed, on Broadway when one of their own, transitions as such, it's definitely heartbreaking. But it's understandable! Because when life itself, throws a wrench and a curve ball, literally, we great Americans, humanitarians, still carry the torch, no matter what. We're magnificent! Gone, but not forgotten! EVER! We stand tall, because we'll never wilt like a flower. Nor become a Weeping Willow! So I truly cherish and embrace all of, what the special unique performers, along with their colleagues, combined participating family entourages. Real showmanship displayed through each act, of precision. To all of the Ringling Brothers, Barnum and Bailey Circus entrepreneurs, dignitaries in every since of, the word. Do take your bows! PERFECTO!! Mr. Kenneth Feld who took on the task, in keeping the hope alive. As best he could! KUDOS!! KUDOS!! BRAVO!! BRAVO!! The New York appeal was there, for all to see and reflect with memory. The trademark and Logo, which both identified such prestigious times, is truly a mainstay, a Hallmark, a Keepsake, also, very well endowed. The business aspect itself! Monumental, and Regal as such. No comparison, because the original founders who were siblings, then carried over to eventual success. The Ringling Brothers were MAGNIFIQUE, described in French. They were all one in a million. Tradition was passed down for those, ongoing years. Even though they life span was short lived, nor surving to an elder age, of 80 past. Destiny, fate, through our Creator has his timeline. We as civil human beings must, value our standards while we live each day. It's important! God blessed each of them, with godgiven talent early in life. And they maintained it all as they went along. Business savvy was the ultimate goal. Smile. KUDOS!! Watching the long train cars of everyone's travel, of goodness in their heart and within, their spirit. Prayers, faith, hope, and charity, is what kept this phenomenal unforgettable, presence alive.
I sit here and watch trains often because I'm a railfan and a model railroader, but this vid brings tears to my eyes as I think about the end of an era. These young guys are like Dinosaurs waving at trains. I am 70 years old and still love to wave at trains although as I have gotten older I sometimes run into an engineer or two who never waves back so I take that as the times we are in but I actually am waving at the train and the driver is a default, but when they wave it raises my joy a notch or two lol.
I'm surprised the wig wag signals on that track made it through. Is the wig wag being replaced over there? I see the wig wag is close to its end in Hawthorne. I liked it better when Union Pacific used Western Cullen Hayes. They still use them for lights and crossing bells but, I was told that they've moved to Siemens and Invensys Rail for crossing gates.
In that scene at the halfway mark, I swear it looks like the train is just driving down the street with the rest of the traffic, rather than the rails being off to one side
I'm watching the young people waving at the train as it past and remembering how inportant it was and how it made you feel when they waved back (and they always did) and to this day at 69, i still wave but some time i don't get a wave back. I don't hold it against the engineers because the circus people were of a different breed . They join the cicus to make people happy and we know they had problems like all of us but you never would see theirs. On the other part, the engineers are just at work sooooo. If i could be an engineer i would always wave back because at the helm of a train has got to feel like being at the helm of a Navy ship and espectially when she was pulling into the the pier and lots of famililies were waiting and watching "i can't descibe it".
