    As a bloke in his 50s, I cannot understand why someone would pay extra for a 'metal' bodied scooter? I remember the Lambretta scooters I used to see as a kid, and usually they were rusty as f*ck! Beautiful bikes, but always let down by the rust, the god-awful 'pre-mix' 'ring-a-ding' fragile engines, and the vague gear-change. Anyone who doesn't think the plastic body one with the CVT gearbox and a 4 stroke engine is not a step-up on the old designs, is living in the past for the sake of living in the past. Vespa progressed to plastic panels years ago and it hasn't hurt their brand or trade. Great reviews and thank you. Really would like one of these. (But with plastic panels, not metal)

    as a lambo man and vespa im looking to go over to R/A they look the biz and 4stroke the way to go fed up with getting the rac out most rally times,and i think its the best review as it tells the price.ride safe all out there.

      Price, dude, the price.
      I've got an italian scooter in my stable, had it for a decade, it's a keeper.
      Why swap over from branded scooters, of a decent quality, to one made from an unknown quality chinesium, when the italian stallion is cheaper ?
      Compared to this RA200, you would save £100 by purchasing a Vespa GTS300. Seems like a false economy, as with the italian, you know what you get, it doesn't rust, and is easy keeping in a neat looking condition. I've not yet seen a chinabike turning 1 year and not being rusty.

      Lambretta’s looks like a Ferrari on two wheels

      4 stroke is not a selling point. You can tune a two stroke to get better performance than a 4.

      The only thing holding 2 strokes on the road when the ulez ( ultra low emission zone) takes over the county ( and it will happen) is the road tax free status!! So when that is tax free is revoked its too the museum with them!!!

      Close. Depends how far back on the seat you are. The GP125 and 300 are the same size, so if you get the chance, sit on one to be sure. I would also recommend the 300 over the 200, Vespa based engine over this sym based one, much more powerful and better quality.

Dont get me wrong, im sure its a damn good scoot which is well built,loads of fun ,reliable and looking like a lammy is a huge selling point, but although it has the style cues, it has none of the character. Just my opinion,and im old so i dont like change so much.

    I'm pleasantly surprised to hear it only weighs in at 129KG as a "full" metal bodied scooter should be heavier. The exrta power should be better for getting away at the lights as well as being more at home on 'A' roads (I would draw the line at taking on a motorway on one of these!)
    The build quality may look good now but lets see what it looks like after a winter's use. The Chinese still have a way to go here...
    Cheap steel won't last long after a few stone chips and salt have done their worst!
    The customer for this machine is likely to be a round town commuter rather than a learner so longevity, reliability and ruggedness is what they will be looking for. do a long term test and lets see what its like after a years use!
    " your buying into a culture" NO YOU'RE NOT! If you were, you'd be buying Italian Not chinese! Thats just marketing hype!

    • @thefreedomguyuk

      @1960ARC 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hit the nail on the head regarding buying into a culture, I ride a 2014 Vespa primavera it's only a 125 but is so much fun to ride. I normally put it away for winter, this year I've kept it on the road and much to my surprise its been ok with my mid size screen.
      No under seat storage on this bike?, I would not give up my underseat storage.

      @thefreedomguyuk 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You do realise Scomadi and Royal Alloy are the same right? Chinese built...now made in Thailand.

    • @stinkymotor
      @stinkymotor 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@motorsforthemasses Scomadi scooters were originally manufactured in China by Hanway Motors, to Scomadi UK specifications. However, Scomadi discovered in 2016 that Hanway Motors were essentially rebadging the Scomadi scooters, and selling them as "Royal Alloy" Scooters, and claimed ownership of Scomadi design patents. Royal Alloy scooters entered into Scomadi's market regions, including MOTO GB distributing them in the UK, Scomadi's own country of origin. The legal action effectively resulted in the company having no scooters to sell for 7 months. Scomadi and Hanway/RoyalAlloy settled the matter, with both going their separate ways, and Royal Alloy continuing to sell their Scomadi clone scooters. Scomadi then moved its manufacturing to Thailand, though the court battle delay for Scomadi gave the Royal Alloy brand a period where they could make ground in their sales in the same market.
