Nice video thanks!!! Do you know if you can use a different manufacturers rotary attachment with this S9? I am wanting a larger space to work. So I am thinking about the expansion kit. Not sure if it's worth it? Thanks!
Well, I'm certainly thankful you did this video. I've run into two issues before completing the assembly. One is I cannot square the frame. As I tighten the screws, the machine continually pulls out of square by 1/8" on the diagonal. Spacing between the rails however is consistent, side to side and front to rear. The front two corners are reasonably squared. This problem is irritating as I've been a cabinetmaker for almost 46 years and have squared many many cabinets. Other videos appear concerned with the 0,0 left front corner only. To what extreme should I go to squaring the entire frame? Problem 2 was gantry travel on the rails. It simply did not travel easily or smoothly. Thanks to your explanation regarding setting the eccentric adjustment of the wheels, I was able to loosen/adjust the gantry wheels to allow proper motion. Now, on to the belts. Can you advise me on how critical is absolute squareness? I assume the larger the engraving, the more critical the need for square. Thanks for your help.
@@PawPawsWorkShop both power adaptors are the same , 12V 5A power adapter. on s9 and s10 , and both laser modules on s9 and s10 are 12v 3a. so my thinking is it should be alright as the only difference i have found is the set up in the laser module that narrows and intensifies the beam for a deeper and quicker cut , thank you for the reply my good man , all the best to you.
Great stuff. Thank you!. Can you cut through a 6mm acrylic sheet with this? I'm making some router templates. If so, how would you adjust the "depth" of the engraving or cut?
Another great video review! How does the S9 compare to the new FA40w? I just received the FA40w, but now wondering if I should have just got the S9 head as it's much less $. Comparing them with diode beam size and power, etc?
What laser engraver/cutter would you recommend as a beginning tool? Don't want to spend too much to get started. Thanks! Your videos are so well done and full of great information!
Definitely go with the Lightburn software. I have the most experience with the FoxAlien and its fantastic. The Sculpfun and the xTool D1 are the two that I am working with now and both are excellent.
Hello, I bought a sculpfun s9, I have been using it for about 10 days, today it started to not work by itself, the light is intermittent and it does not scrape, I tried everything but it does not improve, it seems like the laser has lost its power, can you help me?
What have you been engraving? Do you have air assist. It sounds like the lens is very dirty or damaged. I have damaged a lens before doing crazy experiments in the shop
My S6 Pro z is loose on the gantry . You can grab the laser at bottom and move front to back it wiggles. How do you adjust the 3 wheels on the gantry so it's smooth but rolls back and forth smoothly? I do not see eccentric nut like my shapeoko.
I show hoe in the video on the assembly. There should be two wheels on top and one wheel on the bottom of the gantry. The bottom wheel should have the eccentric nut that you can adjust. Look at my video on the assembly of the Sculpfun S9
Most of the diode lasers state that as a rule of thumb you will get about 1000 hours at 100% power. I have also heard as much as 10,000 hours. I do not know exactly. I rarely use 100% power and I have yet to have one die
So I keep changing my mind about which laser to get....leaning towards this one now as a starter, my only concern is air assist...I haven't seen one, what would you suggest?
@@PawPawsWorkShop Will FoxAlien cut as thick of a material as the Sculpfun S9 though? I would be cutting more than engraving, at least to start. Thanks so much for your help!
Great video there! I'm wondering if you can help me out with a little problem I have. I just recently bought the Sculpfun S6 Pro and right out of the box it worked perfectly with Lightburn. Then I tried it with LaserGRBL software where I think I might have over written the settings of a previous board and when I returned to Lightburn again the work area was in a complete mess, the laser head would go out of bounds and hit the rails. How can I restore the Sculpfun 400x410 settings? Is there a file I can download. Thanks a lot
You more than likely have the wrong COM port. I would try that first. If the laser has been working in the past you may find that the port says it busy. Clear the cashe or reboot the computer. Hope this helps
That is very tough question. All have different features that can be an advantage or disadvantage. Price is another consideration. Even the least expensive has excellent qualities.

Hello, I have started to follow you from Spain and I really like your explanatory videos since you do some very complete unboxing that ends with demonstrations of how the machines work and that is very interesting. I bought the same machine this Christmas but after 3 minutes of use, the laser began to lose power and stopped recording, now I am waiting for a new laser module from the manufacturer and I hope to have more luck and start doing work. I have read a lot about this machine but I can't find anything about the continuous working time of the laser, since if a job lasts 2 hours, can the laser be on all this time or does it have to pause every 10 minutes to cool down the laser and that does not burn? Greetings and have a good day.
Hello... How to reset GRBL configurations (My setup for my Sculpfun S9 is wrong, because the laser does not go to right start-position of engraving after I have set correct 0-point in left/down corner))
The Lightburn software has and is being explained in numerous videos and I will continue to expand on the vast capabilities of this software. To much for one video. Thank you for your comments
Sculpfun has a rubbish and dishonest shipping service I ordered mine on the 5th December thinking I would get my machine shipped by DHL 16th December still waiting!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS 👎🏼
DHL is one of the most difficult shippers and this is the busiest time of the year. It is not the manufacturer fault. You’ll love the laser when you get it
OMG, this is not very helpful at all. You don't show which screw you are using, or which piece you are using as you do it. You don't even show each screw that you put in. Showed 2nd t-screw not even close to 90 degrees when tightening 2nd spot on belt. ***This is basically how to put a screw in a hole, not which screw and which hole.
Want to buy one of these? There are other suppliers than Ban99ood. Choose your supplier wisely! I tried to order a S9 unit through them and got some nasty deception: Order processing forever despite the fact that the item is in stock and despite the tag proud boasting "5 days delivery", unability to cancel the order after 15days of waiting, even if not shipped yet... Time lost in useless chat with bot-like humans. Had to lay a claim by my credit card company, hoping to get money back. A total shame. Be wiser than I was.

Great stuff. Thank you!. Can you cut through a 6mm acrylic sheet with this? I'm making some router templates. If so, how would you adjust the "depth" of the engraving or cut?
Dark colored acrylic should be fine. No clear
Another great video review! How does the S9 compare to the new FA40w? I just received the FA40w, but now wondering if I should have just got the S9 head as it's much less $. Comparing them with diode beam size and power, etc?
I will be making a direct comparison soon. Thanks for watching
How do you compare this machine to the OTUR Laser Master 2?
I do not have a OTUR. I can only say that the Sculpfun S9 is an excellent machine
@@PawPawsWorkShop Thanks so much! Keep posting these videos!
Love your reviews. Have you had a chance to cut thin plywood? I want to cut 1/4" birch plywood, and this laser is supposed to do it.
thanks man
No problem!
@@PawPawsWorkShop , Ya, thanks you. I actually found it. Works beautifully now.
Awesome
I'm having trouble finding information on laser engraving hardwoods like maple and walnut. Can this machine do it?
Yes, with ease
Great review! would you suggest this machine for DAILY cutting of 2mm acrylics? if so how long do you think the laser module would last?
Most of the diode lasers state that as a rule of thumb you will get about 1000 hours at 100% power. I have also heard as much as 10,000 hours. I do not know exactly. I rarely use 100% power and I have yet to have one die
thats my concern, but thank you so much!
Seems like a nice build, metal plates, better than the funky Acro Plates from openbuilds. That acrylic plate method is no bueno
It a very good machine. Thanks for watching
@@PawPawsWorkShop is there a pretty easy kit to add some airflow to the laser head?
There are several. The Dewallie might work well
So I keep changing my mind about which laser to get....leaning towards this one now as a starter, my only concern is air assist...I haven't seen one, what would you suggest?
If that is your main concern. Go with the FOXAlien. The air assist is readily available and works great
@@PawPawsWorkShop Will FoxAlien cut as thick of a material as the Sculpfun S9 though? I would be cutting more than engraving, at least to start. Thanks so much for your help!
Great video, very good explanation. Just wanted to ask if you could do a test for mirrored acrylic?
Great video there! I'm wondering if you can help me out with a little problem I have. I just recently bought the Sculpfun S6 Pro and right out of the box it worked perfectly with Lightburn. Then I tried it with LaserGRBL software where I think I might have over written the settings of a previous board and when I returned to Lightburn again the work area was in a complete mess, the laser head would go out of bounds and hit the rails. How can I restore the Sculpfun 400x410 settings? Is there a file I can download. Thanks a lot
Did you save the original settings?
@@PawPawsWorkShoplm afraid not, and that's the problem.
Will you do some cutting tests? Can it cut 3mm MDF for example?
Yes I will be doing additional projects and will share the results
nice video..!! do you use Lightburn software for this machine ?
Yes, I use Lightburn for all the lasers regardless of the manufacturer
Is the home button necessary?
No. Just use current position in Lightburn and it will work just fine
My friend wants to ask. My laser machine can't connect to the computer. How do I fix it.
You more than likely have the wrong COM port. I would try that first. If the laser has been working in the past you may find that the port says it busy. Clear the cashe or reboot the computer. Hope this helps
how to clean cashe and reboot computer sir??.
How think of an item can I engrave? I want to personalize my handmade cutting boards. But they can me 2” thick.
Just raise the machine up to accommodate the thicker material
Great video. Want to buy one an build in an air assist. Thanks.
Awesome
Thank you for your video! Can this laser work offline, only from microSD card without PC?
No offline capability...
You need the computer
Of the lasers you've tested, which is your preferred machine
That is very tough question. All have different features that can be an advantage or disadvantage. Price is another consideration. Even the least expensive has excellent qualities.
@@PawPawsWorkShop very diplomatic answer 😁
Thanks, How to set the X and Y position?
why is it when i set my quality 7 on laser grbl, it sets a 7.000 , but on other videos it only has 7 on it's own , would this matter
7.0000 is exactly the same as 7
@@PawPawsWorkShop thank you very much my good man that has put my mind at rest , only just started this last week , i thought i had a big problem , All the best to you , Have a good un.
what software do you use for cnc? thanks
I use Lightburn for the lasers and easel along with VCarve for the CNC machines
what sorwer do you use?
Lightburn for the lasers and easel and VCarve for the CNC machines
You should have no problems with a 2 hour project
Question how come my workstation does not look like your?
My workstation has taken decades to create and it’s still not finished. Yours will get there also.
What software used for design and engraving.
I use Lightburn
ايش اسم البرنامج اللي اشتغل عليه في الاب توب ؟؟
Hello... How to reset GRBL configurations (My setup for my Sculpfun S9 is wrong, because the laser does not go to right start-position of engraving after I have set correct 0-point in left/down corner))
You will need to manually enter the code into the controller
@@PawPawsWorkShop thanks....was afraid of that. Do you have the parameters?
How long did it take you to engrave this?
About 15 minutes
It's price plz.?
How can I get it in India
nice pressentation,, you missed explaining the software :/ but thanks anyway :)
The Lightburn software has and is being explained in numerous videos and I will continue to expand on the vast capabilities of this software. To much for one video. Thank you for your comments
@@PawPawsWorkShop i get it. Thanks again :)
😯👍👍👍👌
Thank you very much
Hello to the site they tell that this laser can engrane stainless . Can it ?
I’ll give it a try.
@@PawPawsWorkShop thanks ! I am interested to buy this machine for that reason i am asking .
@@panosgiannosdiy1085 yes
Дiдо, а русские субтитры можно?
I’m not sure I have seen that available
I appreciate you sharing
Want to buy one of these? There are other suppliers than Ban99ood.
Choose your supplier wisely!
I tried to order a S9 unit through them and got some nasty deception:
Order processing forever despite the fact that the item is in stock and despite the tag proud boasting "5 days delivery", unability to cancel the order after 15days of waiting, even if not shipped yet...
Time lost in useless chat with bot-like humans.
Had to lay a claim by my credit card company, hoping to get money back.
A total shame.
Be wiser than I was.
Wow, thanks for sharing. Yes, please shop around.
