  • Does your child dart away from you in a crowded parking lot or at the playground? Do you struggle to chase after him/her because you've got a stroller, strider bike, or baby in your arms? Are you nervous about taking them to public places because they like to bolt, and are especially struggling with social distancing/following guidelines in this time of a global COVID 19 pandemic? Do you wish you could balance your fears and anxiety with the benefits of enjoying physical activity in the great outdoors with your child(ren)? Then this video is for you. I cover what to prioritize when going outside, why kids do this, how to create realistic expectations of your child(ren) and yourself, ways to set yourself and your family up for success, and approaches for responding/disciplining your child when they do inevitably run away.

"Is it insulting to install socket protectors when you have an infant at home?" Great comparison with making rules to address a child's darting!

I remember the moment when my entire perspective on discipline and boundaries shifted, and I finally saw them as acts of love, rather than punishment (as they are so often framed in our society). I'm glad this idea made an impression on you as well! It can be such a game changer in the energy we bring to raising young children.
