There was a period when I worked at an art gallery.
A visitor decided to place his 7 year old son on a LEDGE (the drop was about 25 feet) to take a picture.
      Guess the rest.
Anyhoo, the spouse of said man immediately ran downstairs with her husband and LEFT HER INFANT DAUGHTER ALONE on a bench.
      Yeah.
We had to have special sensors installed to let us know when some worthless bag of atoms that decided to breed left anything LIVING on the ledges.
      'Cos the SIGNS weren't enough.
The gallery was sued, of course.
The kid survived with mild injuries. He landed on a perfectly placed salon chair.
      Hopefully he hasn't bred.

Saddest part is, if these animals harm these people, they euthanize the animal. So in a sense, these people are harming themselves AND the animals all at the same time. After seeing the actions of these people, I'm ready to sign a petition to eliminate the euthanization of animals who were clearly being provoked. I understand why they do it, but obviously we've become too complacent with our place in the food chain lol

This is routine at National Parks like Yellowstone NP or Yosemite NP. I remember seeing signs at Yosemite decades ago (1980's), so this stupidity isn't new. A family and their five year old daughter got to close to some deer. The deer kicked the young girl in the head, collapsing her skull. She was dead before she hit the ground. So keep your distance.
I've also seen the stupidity in person at Yellowstone NP (~1978). People see a bear and absolutely lose their minds. Seeing a parent put little Johnny ON THE BEAR FOR THE PICTURE has to be seen to be believed.
I think many/most Urban/Suburban folk have a very Bambified view of wild animals. They are likely the same people who think food comes from the grocery store.

I'm pretty sure the only reason I wasn't attacked is because they didn't notice me. The first one was huge and the second was much smaller-- which scared me even more. A small bear is a cub. I lived in Cody Wyoming for 25 years, and I made it a family thing that we went to Yellowstone every year. And every year you see this kind of behavior from idiots. And I used to be very vocal about it yelling at people to get away from the animals and such. But I've literally had people want to fight me because I'm telling them to get away from the animals. I just gave up but what I did start doing is video taping it along with their license number and turning that information over to the park rangers. They would also go out into protected areas around the geysers, areas where you can literally fall through the crust and die. And you're told don't get off the boardwalk but yet people do it every year and every year somebody dies.
But yeah my advice is just to get the evidence and turn it over to the park rangers because they will and do prosecute. I know of at least two different people that were prosecuted because of the evidence I turned over

I am from Europe and last year I went to San Francisco for the first time in my life, of course I went to the golden gate bridge with a couple of friends that live in SF. I was contemplating the view of the bridge, and one of them was a bit baffled: "You don't take a picture of it?" My honest reaction was "Why? If I want to see a picture of it, I've got Google Image to help out, nah I prefer to just watch it."

Just be there, enjoy the present moment and experience it first hand.
Same with the people who are filming a concert with their mobile instead of just EXPERIENCE the music and live in the moment. Trains and buses were FILLED with people watching their phones. Most people waiting in queue to pay/order food were literally mindlessly scrolling shorts constantly without even paying attention to what they were even doing. All public tourist spots were completely filled with people doing tik tok dances with their cameras set up etc. The only place there was no one doing this was a tree top bridge i went on and that was only cuz it was bucketing down and no one was there. I recently left my doctor's office and while driving through the parking lot, I saw a young woman standing in the middle of the parking lot where a car could have hit her, and she was staring at her phone. She finally came out of her stupor, looked around, and then walked toward the sidewalk.
Another time, I was driving through a residential area at night, and a woman crossed right in front of me while staring at her phone the entire time. she was wearing black so I barely saw her and almost hit her.
It's like they honestly think the world revolves around them, and they can just cross in front of or stand in the way of traffic without any repercussions. It's infuriating.

one time in the woods i saw a wild boar cub. i was both very excited and freaking terrified.
i was entirely too close for any respected boar parents to not intervene. i just stood there silent. watching the little fellas who was surprisingly cool with being so close with a person, but at the same time ready to run. but, no other boar showed up. i even sit after a while. it was just me and this cute furry little pig. he stayed like 5 meters from me, never came closer. i felt like swarzenegger in that pic with all the animals XD. then a couple of other hikers showed up, they immediately made a fuss by taking out both phone and a camera from a backpack. making the animal sprint away.
people need to take photo so they can be validated by posting them on social media.

I was once scared to death in China just by a savage-looking mama dog who came over when I got too close to one of her puppies. Seriously, this beast looked just like the wolf suckling the two human babies in that famous Romulus and Remus statue, and was as big as a wolf. She wasn’t even aggressive; just suddenly appearing and approaching me was enough to cause my life to flash before my eyes. I honestly don’t understand people’s lack of respect for the fearsome power of protective maternal wrath.
