Can you please clarify if it's advisable to press on the service brake while the parking brake is enabled? I've read that may cause damage to the breaks.

I've always done it in Buses and its caused no problems I appreciate Lorries are a little more complex though but still I don't see why this should cause an issue.

yeah your not supposed to it will eventually cause damage to your brakes
