This point may have been brought up in previous MGR video reactions, but I'll say it anyway. The boss themes in this game are essentially a musical insight to the psyche of the bosses you go against and sometimes provide more backstory that what is outright said in dialogue or even supplementary material. The Hot Wind Blowing summarizes the mindset of Khamsin, who is the DLC boss of MGR's Bladewolf DLC. He is a ex-US military soldier who participated in the 2003 Iraq invasion. The song's lyrics embodies the worst aspects one can take as a soldier; blindly following orders and not understanding the reason why you're even fighting, which results in moral apathy. To put into the context of the game, Khamsin constantly spouts his desire to give the people of the country that he and the rest of the baddies are invading 'freedom, even if it kills us', all without understanding the irony of forcing his idea of 'freedom' onto others.
It baffles me how we learn next to nothing about a lot of the characters through the game itself, but then we get these super intricate songs about them.
@@GunGun-cf3ss you definitely learn about the chars ingame, through codecs. for example, the codecs tell you all about monsoon's backstory in the khmer rouge and his life in the cambodian mafia. however stains of time reveals that his nihilism is nothing more than a coping mechanism to shield himself from the traumas of his past that won't go away.
I ended up playing MGRR same way, the music struck me and I got more curious about the game and characters and it's been awesome ever since I found this decade old gem
Hands down one of the best vocal themes from MGR, although sadly it doesn’t get mentioned as much as the others, probably because it’s from a DLC that’s really short.
You’re forgetting Collective Consciousness (the penultimate boss theme), plus the non-boss vocal tracks Dark Skies, Return to Ashes, and A Soul Can’t Be Cut.
Everytime you react to music from this game I have to relisten to this OST 👌. Can't wait for you to play the game it's brilliant to experience the way it builds in game
Nice reaction, I have a doubt though, you said this is your last from the game, but I think you didn't do "collective consciousness". And yeah, I noticed because that's my favorite song from rising 😂
My only and I mean only complaint about any of the MGR songs is that I wish they were longer. The instrumentals are amazing I love the vocals everything just matches together so well for our hype soundtrack and you are definitely in for a fun if not insane time. ( Don't think too hard about the plot it might destroy your brain) I just feel like some of the songs could have used an extra verse another chorus and a proper placement for the guitar solos. But other than that fantastic score all around
MGR and DMC5 have some of the most amazing songs. The other games that make me cry when I listen are Mass efect 2 and summoner 1. Thou they are a different type of music. Its so great that we get this quality of music in games. its like those OSTs from interstellar. But w get them for games. (Im a gamer :D).
The boss fights are really the main part of the game, the stages before them are more there for plot. It IS Platinum Games after all, it's kind of what they do.
You've done MGR, you've also done DMC, y'know what else that you need to check? PGR, a gacha game, with some of the best ost's i've ever heard. And for the ones you should check, i suggest Narwhal, Hikari, Exorcism, Last Resort, Lamia, and Resolution.
You should check out Disco Elysium. Instrument of Surrender and Whirling in Rags, 8am are both fantastic tracks, and the rest of the soundtrack is almost as good
Every time I've watched one of your MGR reactions I'm reminded of how much I hate the people who uploaded these versions of them to TH-cam - they're all looped so incredibly poorly and always blue-ball you by forcing a bad, extremely unnatural and obvious loop right as you reach a peak bit of the song, usually a solo or the final climactic chorus
Eh, it's alright. It still gives off the energetic effect the song was meant to put out. Plus I just beat the game and experienced it as is if that counts.
@@JessesAuditorium searching jesse's vod's basically nothing shows up. Probably because Jesse is such a common name. You probably need to put a link somewhere or make a video just informing people it exists (with a link).
I'm sure someone's already requested this, but if you're still taking them for FF XIV, I recommend A newer track from it - Abyssos Sixth/Seventh Circle Theme "Scream"
The vocals are by John Bush (former singer of Anthrax and Armored Saint). I should know - I was there to record him ;)
Holy shit it's the man himself
OH SNAP
Its the man himself omg hes amazing
I just want you to know that you're the best and should feel immensely proud always for your work because holy SMOKES
Dude, hi.
This song has the same chord progression as Collective Consciousness, since they both share the same themes
Nice!
wait can i play this with all i want for chistmas

Cool thing about this song is that they play the guitar riff when you pull off a stealth attack on him during the fight and it's so sick
Not gonna lie I never knew that b/c I didn't know I could stealth him.

“The Hot Wind Blowing” is the boss theme for Khamsin in the Bladewolf DLC.

Well, the covers by " Go! Light Up! " have extended lyrics to them which I really appreciate, so you could look those up on youtube.
FINALLY my fav ost of this game
Probably both the catchiest and most unsubtle song on the OST.
Fits its boss fight pretty well.
