Hi there folks. I've recently been going through my old patterns to bring them up to scratch, and this particular guy needed a little bit of love. Here are a couple of adjustments I've made to the pattern shown in the video: Head/Body R5. 3sc, inc3, 4sc, inc3, 5sc, inc3, 4sc, inc3 (28) AND R17. In the video I fold up the grey and stitch through the head pretty early in this row. I would recommend moving it to the 6th stitch in the row. Thanks!
About row 17: Does that mean you would fold it up to the head after "sc, inc, sc and then 1 sc of the inc as normal" and then the second sc of the increase as the one folding to the head? (Also really loved those ridges for the eyes, was a bit confused at first but i really like the way that looks ❤)
@@Essie._.Star2 Yes, the inc3 means instead of your normal 2 stitch increase, you put 3 stitches into the increase. I know because I was wondering the same thing and counted the stitches before working the row. I do have a question of whether or not she's working from the reverse or back side of the piece though because I don't see her flip the work to do the back post row. If she is, I've done the first five rows wrong.
This is such a good pattern! Ive crocheted for over a decade now and im going to make an army of spiders! I followed for the head but improvised for the body. and the legs are so easy. Thank you for sharing i cant wait to follow another one of your patterns!
WOW I am impressed, how someone can do such great things with their own hands! I would love to have the patience and creativity to create wonderful pieces even though I am still 16.
I was mostly listening to this, while I followed along, because I need new glasses [not getting any in the near future] and I love your woolly adventures. It wasn't until row 17 of the body [14:03] that I realised you were making the little spider inside-out. XD I'd already inserted my last precious toy eyes, so had to improvise from there on... I'm so glad you encourage us to embrace our errors, slash, creatures' characters :D

I just discovered your channel through a comment you left on a Karen Puzzles video, and now I'm dying to make all these cute critters! Might be a bit advanced for me but I'm determined to figure it out!!!
Could you make this same spider but without the pumpkin pattern tutorial? I can probably make one by not changing colors, but I think it would be easier. This is the best plushie spider pattern on youtube and it'd be cool to see one that's "plain and boring" for ..idk, simpleness.
I'll probably not make another video on it, BUT...here's R19 to R25 if you just want to make a plain one: R19. 6[5sc, inc] (42) R20. 42sc (42) R21. 42sc (42) R22. 42sc (42) R23. 6[5sc, dec] (36) R24. 36sc (36) R25. 36sc (36)

Do you flip your work when you changed the color? I'm confused on the direction of the stitches because I'm crocheting on the outside of the body and it looks like you are crocheting on the inside.
So I took this pattern and basically ran away with it. I'm not very skilled at crochet plushies. But I really wanted to try. I ended up making it with a 3d rose on the back as well as a small one on her head. I don't have safety eyes either. So I diyed some with buttons hit glue and yarn. I also changed the legs up a little. And made the peddie palps a bit more accurate. And finally I added the two tiny little web spinners on her butt.
i mean i had about 4 mental breakdowns ( including frogging it ALL up multiple times) when it came to the back post thing because my count was always off but now i got it and it was absolutely worth it lmao. so adorable
oh no! These days I remember to warn people to count backwards from their hook to check their stitch count whenever doing back post! I'm glad you got it worked out :)

Hii! New to your channel. I wanted to ask about your candy spider. How did you make the candy spiral on her back? Just adorable!!❤Oops nevermind just found the video!!
This is adorable and thank you sooooo much for the pattern. I have a question though, how is the wrong side facing you? Like, the side with the tail? Am I trippin'?
The hazards of being self-taught: I found out after I started this channel that I crochet backwards. I swapped to YU stitching instead of YO stitching at the start of this year, and I think that fixed it?
Hey, this pattern is so great and I can't wait to try it out and make a cute little spider for my sister. However watching this video something seemed strange and I just figured out, what was driving me crazy. Is it possible, that you were stitching this pattern inside-out? I watched a lot of your videos and I just went back to some of them and usually your hook is in the front of the piece you are making and you are working clockwise. In this video the opening of the piece is in front of the hook and you are working counter-clockwise. I'm a bit confused... 😅 Can you tell me what the difference in the end result is, when you work the other way round? When that happened to me in the past, I always started over, but it looks like you can get decent results either way... Does it even make a difference?
Hi! This is one of my early EARLY videos. What you are noticing there is that I'm self taught and didn't realise I was doing it differently to everyone else. As I swapped to yarning under shortly after this, I just naturally moved to stitching on the "correct" side of the work. So yeah, long story short, crochet is very forgiving, and even doing things "wrong" can make very little difference.
@@ComplicatedKnots cool, thank you very much for explaining. I think it is so great, that you take the time to answer all these questions, even on such old videos. It makes you very likable and feels so "real", like we were just chatting about crocheting with an old friend ;-)
I just found your channel and your toys are amazing. And those pokemons. I'm a beginner with crocheting and some characters mostly from games are so difficult to make. I hope your videos will help me make a better toys. The first one will be this spider. Also I'm sorry that you're alergic to wool. 🥺
I am super new to crochet and just started this...I do have a few questions maybe u can help? For the cotton candy colored spider I like the spiral on its back better than pumpkin making it for my first born Lil girl...it looks like a single crochet stitch..but can u tell me how to do the spiral and if it's done after like added on? Secondly I like it's pinchers better to as there 3d any way u can tell me how to achieve those to...I looked for a pattern but only saw the pumpkin one...please and thank you
Hi! The swirl is actually two rings, but you can achieve the look by making a chain, and measure it's long enough by swirling it on your spiders back. Then turn, and start in the second chain from your hook, sc along that chain. Sew it down in a swirl on his back. It may take some fiddling to get the right length, but the piece should pretty naturally curl on it's self if you don't pull it straight. For the moustache, I actually did include it in this video as well, around the 42 minute mark I explain how to make it. :)
@@aprilkittyames1025 correct, however, that's only because at the time of creating this pattern I hadn't tried surface crochet yet. It would probably work just as well/better if you wanted to try it!
Heyyy @ComplicatedKnots!!! I really love this little spider and am currently making it for my boyfriend for Halloween, I was just wondering what the transition from round 10(not a complete row, 26 stitches) to round 11(dec, 4sc, dec, 20sc) means, do I do round 10 and if so what about the leftover 2 stitches? or do I just do round 11? other than that thank you for the pattern! Happy Halloween!
Hi! I believe that R10 is slightly adjusting the start of the row, so you should be able to continue straight on into R11. I am just at my dayjob at the moment, but I'll double check for you when I get home 😁
@@ComplicatedKnots okay thank you! So those last 2 stitches would be a decrease then I continue to row 11 (row 10 and 11 being the same row), correct me if I’m wrong sorry for asking too many questions😭
@Ailyn Ask as many as you need! Ok, so I have a habit of carving things up into chunks that very occasionally aren't complete rows, because the chunks make more sense then a completed row would. So R10, we work 26sc. Then the first dec of R11 is in the next two stitches. The way I think about it is "moving the start of the row". 🙂
I just noticed when you got to round 17 on the head/neck, but is there a reason why your project is in the opposite direction? I was wondering because I'm having trouble with crocheting to the back of the head properly. Also do you crochet to the back of the head every sc on that round or just the one you went through with us?
It turns out that I crocheted backwards in the early days of my channel. In Jan this year I swapped to yarning under and based on the feedback I believe its fixed the issue. Its just the one stitch!
I don't know if you ever figured this out, but no and inc is not the same as 2sc, and Inc is 2 SC in the same stitch, and 2sc is 1sc in each in 2 stitches. So 1sc, Inc, 2sc, inc would look like this ( _ = previous stitch that your working into, l = your single crochet I II I I II _ _ _ _ _
Hi! You want DK/3/8ply yarn with a 3.5mm hook for the size I'm making. Larger yarn will mean a bigger spider. I personally use 4seasons Marvel for the majority of my projects these days, that's just the best budget option readily available in my area.
Hi! I would love to try this pattern, but how did you do the 'rings' on the back of the pink/green spider? What is the pattern for that (I'd love to try it!)?
I never expected anyone to want the candy spider, so I freehanded parts of him. Looking at his back though I believe I just chained until it was the size of the ring I wanted, then joined in a loop and sc around. They are just sewn on; there's a bigger ring and a smaller ring. I hope that helps? Thankfully I included the moustache pattern in the video so I don't have to try and remember what I did there :)
@Chelsea Around the 42 minute mark I explain the pattern. This was one of the first ones I released on my channel, I hadn't worked out how to add chapters yet 😂
I spent some time hunting for the candy spider pattern too 😅 Had hoped the details might be included in the bought pattern but the description didn't suggested they would be. Then I thought to check the comments here. Winning!
I'll admit this one isn't really aimed for people at the start of their journey, but we all have to start somewhere! 🙂 I'm sure you'll be ready for this one in no time. Let me know if I can help 💜
Practice makes perfect. I'm sure the video will still be available once your skill has increased. I never thought I'd be at this point either but here I am. You got this!
I'm sorry but I don't get it. I must be stupid or something since nobody else said something about it, but after following your pattern on the 5th row, doing the math, if one inc=2 and one sc=1, then adding everything, 3+6+3+6+6+6+3+6+1 adds up to 40!!! but on row 5 and 6 I see I'm supposed to have 28 stitches, or loops however you wanna call it, idk I'm new to this. either way I've been struggling with this for a minute and I'm not sure if I'm the one not comprehending something or it was a mistake, either way something isn't adding up. can someone please explain this error please? like, literally, anyone

@@ComplicatedKnots thanks. I appreciate you taking the time to answer.
How much yarn do i need? I have one ball of yarn but i am scared that its not enough
The entire spider, including eyes and stuffing, weighs 52g. I know skein/ball size varies, but if you have at least 50g you'll have plenty :)
I love this! Thank you! I wanted to share a pic but I can’t here.
Im glad you like them! It is one of my favourite patterns :)
Can someone explsin to me how in the world this written pattern works?
Eg R3 'SC, INC, 2SC
^An increase and a 2sc are the same thing? No?
I don't know if you ever figured this out, but no and inc is not the same as 2sc, and Inc is 2 SC in the same stitch, and 2sc is 1sc in each in 2 stitches. So 1sc, Inc, 2sc, inc would look like this ( _ = previous stitch that your working into, l = your single crochet

I'm testing your pattern and modifying it to be a dice bag.... And minimal sewing, I'll post what I changed after I see the results 💞
Is there a size on the yarn you are using or one you recommend for these patterns
Hi! You want DK/3/8ply yarn with a 3.5mm hook for the size I'm making. Larger yarn will mean a bigger spider. I personally use 4seasons Marvel for the majority of my projects these days, that's just the best budget option readily available in my area.
@@ComplicatedKnots thank you
In what row did you place the big eyes?
Hi! It's between R4 and R5, and the outer edge of your eye should just touch the back-post stitching we did for the eyebrow. Hope this helps!
We are to use weight 4 yarn correct?
Im using DK/3 yarn. Weight 4 will work, it will just end up a bit bigger than the one shown :)
@@ComplicatedKnots awesome! Thank you. I can't wait to get started making them!
I was wondering is there a PDF version of this pattern? I can't find it on your ETSY... :(
Hi! It'll be back in my etsy in a couple of hours, I took it down to do a couple of minor corrections 🙂
My goodness this is so stinking cute! Even my Arachneaphobia is oke with this spider lol 😍
Thats good, she wouldn't want to scare anyone...but maybe don't watch my "bigger" video 😅
@@ComplicatedKnots Lol I did watch that one, the cuteness cured the possibility of it being scary :p
@@ComplicatedKnots awesome! Thanks so much :) Would you be able to tell me the pattern for the moustache at all?
@Chelsea Around the 42 minute mark I explain the pattern. This was one of the first ones I released on my channel, I hadn't worked out how to add chapters yet 😂
@@ComplicatedKnots Thank you so much!
I spent some time hunting for the candy spider pattern too 😅 Had hoped the details might be included in the bought pattern but the description didn't suggested they would be. Then I thought to check the comments here. Winning!
This is so foreign to a beginner and I’m so sad 😭
I'll admit this one isn't really aimed for people at the start of their journey, but we all have to start somewhere! 🙂 I'm sure you'll be ready for this one in no time. Let me know if I can help 💜
Practice makes perfect. I'm sure the video will still be available once your skill has increased. I never thought I'd be at this point either but here I am. You got this!

I'm sorry but I don't get it. I must be stupid or something since nobody else said something about it, but after following your pattern on the 5th row, doing the math, if one inc=2 and one sc=1, then adding everything, 3+6+3+6+6+6+3+6+1 adds up to 40!!! but on row 5 and 6 I see I'm supposed to have 28 stitches, or loops however you wanna call it, idk I'm new to this. either way I've been struggling with this for a minute and I'm not sure if I'm the one not comprehending something or it was a mistake, either way something isn't adding up. can someone please explain this error please? like, literally, anyone
never mind I read the pinned comment
NOO!!! never mind!!! it still adds up to forty!!!
@@alinabudris7303 Hi :) inc3 = 3 stitches into the same stitch. I think that's how you are getting to forty.

Neden Türkçe ye çeviriyorum ki yaa 🤔😔
I think I have just wasted eight eyes. The pattern was going good until you got to the markings on the back and you went so fast And I couldn’t understand your diagrams. Slow and explicit would’ve been nice.
Hi - I'm sorry you're have a bad time with this pattern. Here is version you can use without the pumpkin if you'd like, just so your eyes aren't wasted.
