    It's funny that they showed so much of the "details" for the zombies in Train to Busan, like the transformation scenes, but choose only to show a snippet of the Istanbul scene in World War Z and ignored all the scenes that show the "details" they are saying American films lack. Kinda expected responses when the PD chooses to only show those aspects.

    I suppose the issue about zombies in the West is this: they represent the decay of society. That’s why they are often slow, lumbering and rotting as they move. That’s why the Resident Evil series, Night of the Living Dead series, Walking Dead, 28 Days Later, and I am Legend all have in common, even The Last of Us. It’s not the zombies themselves that are so terrifying, it’s what they represent. The slow, decaying death of everything you know and love. It’s worse than being toppled by war or invaded by aliens, it’s the end of the world. The end of everything you knew and you are just existing, hanging on to a live without a purpose. Everyone you know will die, whether by a zombie or other humans desperate to survive. It’s the heartbreaking isolation that make them so iconic.
    Though I admit, Kingdom is one of the best shows I have EVER seen and can’t wait for season 3. Unlike anything else.

    SPOILERS:
    The dad could have lived if he wasn't stupid and purposefully put his hand in the guy's mouth. It was sad, yeah. But he had SO MUCH time to push the guy off the train. Honestly, all the people were stupid except for the husband of the pregnant lady. He's the only one I actually liked and got super mad when he died. He was strong and fought off those zombies like nobody's business lol

    • @sepywishes1120
      @sepywishes1120 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not really. The husband of the pregnant lady made makeshift armor for himself but didn’t cover his hands and then preceded to use those unprotected hands to fight off zombies where if they bite or scratch you then you’re a goner. It would be smarter to use some kind of weapon against the zombies preferably a mid range type weapon like a bat or long range like a makeshift spear. The armor he did have though protected his forearms but still left much of his skin exposed from what I can remember.

    Train to Busan did really well internationally, at least with people who don't mind subtitles. Excellent movie, excellent take on zombies, and the tragic points were executed really well. Still cry every time I watch the movie, and at several points. Got to hand it to Koreans when it comes to that; they execute emotions suuuuper well. WWZ is good as an action flick, like there is a lot of shit constantly happening, but it's honestly a terrible zombie movie (like the zombie rules are kind of dumb) and completely lacks any heart. I haven't seen Walking Dead, though a lot of people praise it. Need to watch Kingdom now!

    Storytelling is an art that I think some directors and screenwriters have lost, or perhaps the art gets lost in the special sauce of Hollywood. Personally, I find that a lot of the time the best zombie movies/supernatural movies haven't had a huge budget for extensive CGI or large casts, and they often lack the exceedingly popular actors, but instead, they have chosen to focus on the storytelling. While I really enjoyed 'World War Z' because of the brilliant SFX makeup team, and the CGI, the story didn't hook me the way that 'Train to Busan' did. While both are great zombie movies, I'd probably reach to watch the latter before the former.

    American zombies aren't exclusively slow. It depends on a few factors, if they are freshly turned they tend to run and attack quickly but as they start to rot and break down they become slow and plodding like in Walking Dead.. I mean a rotting corpse can't move like one that is still fresh and whole.
    It's not always true though and 28 Days later isn't really a zombie movie as the people are still alive just infected with essentially super rabies.
