The worst thing about American swimsuits is that it's practically impossible to find anything practical. IDC if people go to the beach naked, I just want something modest for me.

try surf shops (especially online) they have two piece suits as well, with long sleeves and shorts or short sleeves and long pants etc!
In the UK (at least the country in the UK I'm from) one pieces are very popular, I'm not sure about the price but we tend to commit to one swimsuit for a few years until you start to out grow or its aging. So maybe try (if they do overseas deliveries) Matalan, M&S or something. I'm sure global brands like Nike and Adidas have lots of them as well, but since they're big brands they might be pricey. Just trying to give a bit more perspective!
@@blodyn7802 Most one-piece swimsuits (at least in America) show off a surpriiiising amount, especially if you're tall... They never fit me anyway. I'm sure they're a good option for some people though! I mean at least they're not just scraps of spare fabric held on with bow-ties...!

@@marce.4277 Its because they dont have a lot of beaches in korea like we do in warmer climate places. Also they're pretty conservative there and it's not common for a woman to wear skimpy outfits in public, even if it's a swimsuit.

Ice Snow yess ofc. People are wearing these types of bikinis more and more. I’ve been to the US multiple times and comparing to my country the swimsuits there still show less skin than here, but that’s changing - the youth is wearing more exposing swimsuits now

i actually had one when i was a kid and it had a skirt but the skirt made it so hard to swim not only that it was awkward to get into and out of but they pretty cute but would not recommend bc the extra fabric makes it hard to swim in

When I went to the beach in Korea, all the women were wearing shorts and shirts, even to swim. I saw very few women with swimsuits and they were all very covered. And there I was, my European bikini, half my butt out lmao in my country nobody even looks at anyone anymore

Moi, j'ai vu un peu de tout, c'est juste que je ne connais pas trop les noms (aussi, y'a decathlon qui vend des "maillots" pour les musulmanes et ça ressemble un peu prés au maillot qui couvrent le corps "complet" mais y'a quelque chose qui recouvre les cheveux/la tête). @@Sakura-rn2gf It depends where you are in Europe. I think it's more common to see people topless in South Europe (Portugal, Spain, Italy etc...) It used to be more popular in the past though. But then it was proved it could cause cancer, so less women kept doing it.

I didn’t expect the swimsuits to be covering that much. Don’t they get itchy while wearing that? If I wore something like that people would judge me for dressing up as a grandma or label me as an extremist muslim. But I have to say if the Korean options don’t make you itchy I’d prefer theirs. I don’t feel comfortable in bathing suits. I feel insecure about it and avoid going to swimming places.
If someone wears hijab then there is no other way than wearing burkini. So only of someone wear hijab you can see that they are Muslim isn‘t it. Let people think what they want. Better to guard ones privacy and modesty and wear appropriate stuff to the beach.

Rimu N my kids so do you think surfers, who are probably in the water more than most, get itchy every time they surf in their wetsuits? My 2 kids are redhead & fair skin and when we are going to be on the beach all day they wear long sleeve SPF swim tops and knee length swim shorts (to minimise the amount of exposure to the sun so that they don’t need to worry about sunburn or having to reapply suncream everywhere constantly... They’ve never had a sand problem (the swim clothing sit tight to the skin so that also minimises how much sand gets places) and the tops aren’t hot because the fabric is usually made from a material that breathes.

I love Korea's swimsuits. Where I live in Italy it is nearly impossible to find less revealing swim wear. I tend to be the black sheep on the beach wearing ankle length leggings, sport skirt, sport bra, rash guard zip-up hoodie and water shoes. And with plenty of sunblock I make sure not to burn.
There isn't just bikinis here in the States. Personally I've never worn one. I prefer tankinis with shorts

Monokini means the same thing in the west generally - a one piece. That's how they're labeled in stores now. As an American this is the first I've ever heard of someone thinking it means only bottoms.

Very interesting video! I didn't know that you would wear that kind of swimsuits at the beach in Korea, that to me look like dresses. Some of them are pretty beautiful tho, that is not something that you find in the west as a swimsuit.
About the western ones, I understand the gap between trends but we use swimsuits and bikinis that cover more too ehe (even if maybe not as much).

I used to wear bikinis, but it's too hard to swim without the water making the top heavy, and the weight of the water plus the weight of my chest makes the bikini top come off😭 these days I just wear a t shirt and a bikini bottom, or just shorts and a bikini top that's tight enough to stay on

I’m in the UK and of course there are many women who do compliment each other, eg; friends, sisters, mothers, nieces and aunties etc. Sadly there are many young girls, teens, women and men too who seem to jump at the chance to be cruel about their looks, weight and other things. It’s mostly done online and can be particularly cruel. Also happens a lot at schools. So to see you complimenting others and each other but also discussing such a wide variety of topics is so refreshing. You all do it with such fun and lightheartedness it really helps me to feel better about myself & I also have a good giggle too.🥰

I'm disappointed, I was waiting to see some other styles of 'western' swimsuits. These were very one-note, not at all representing the wide variations of styles that average women wear. Balconette-style bikini tops are also popular, as are flouncy voluminous styles like the ones shown in the first half of the video, not to mention different bikini bottom silhouettes other than high-cut thong/cheeky. We've seen lots of really beautiful and interesting one-piece swimsuits popping up over the last few years, too. Suits with cutouts, lots of straps, fun prints... I was surprised not to see that in the video.

You are so lucky, in my country is literally just triangular bikinis with high cut tongs and the under boob ones. I swear at least in my city I can't find anything, just little variations of those ones... but the West are a lot of countries so never is gonna be accurate.
10 months late, but i agree. i tend to notice with these type of videos (korea vs the west) they show quite a variety of different korean styles but when it gets to the west, they just show 1 sided photos and videos. like if your gonna compare the two at least put in effort to both.
also not even to mention that these comparisons aren’t even fair because South Korea is 1 country while the west is America, Canada, Australia, and all of the countries in Europe, etc. you can’t categorize all of those into one. that’s too much. It’s interesting to see cultural differences and compare them, but not when poor research is put into them. That’s why I usually don’t like these videos lol.
