  • Being rich in the Philippines is not about money and at the same time it's all about money. It's one of the last places on earth where a working man can live like a king. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for watching. 3800/monthly is considered rich but it's a reference point in my vlog. How much you are above or below that amount should tell you where you stand. I didn't mean to confuse anyone it's not a budget video. Take care.

@Sunshine Shoulders, I emailed you a long time ago when you had the female relative of your GF in a video looking for a foreigner relationship. She rebuffed me but did hook me up with her friend. I learned when chatting with her friend I needed minimum $3,000 a month to live middle class life style in the PI. I ended the chatting as I wasn't going to have that kind of income from my SS. She never asked for a dime and I never offered per your warning to never send money to Filipina LDR who you haven't met in-person first. You saved me some money brother Calvin with your warning.

You state that a retiree can have the woman (singular) of his dreams for $3800 a month. What are you referring to that would carry that price? I understand that it would be expensive to lead a bargirl lifestyle, but didn't expect to hear that cost cited for living with just one woman.

Davao, Clark, Iloilo, Northern Mindanao, Dumaguete is like 4-6X. Beyond that, in the provinces, you're looking at 10X but then there isn't much to buy. Lol.

You should be comfortable living with $1,000 per month (about 50,000 pesos) in The Philippines, provided you live "normally". You cook your own dish, perhaps 2-3 times to the restaurant, and you budget the rented house at $100-$200. You can in fact live with less than $1,000. Most Filipinos do not earn 50K pesos/month. The average salary here is about 20K.

Calvin, you done it again on another great seminar of education. I really enjoyed the concept of being rich in dollar value in the Philippines. I know down the line you will show upper middle, middle class dollar values too. I believe you because, having I lived there before too. To me, I apologize if I am getting in advance on future videos from you. The concept of at least having 50,000 pesos ($1,000) a month there in the Philippines will get you in pretty great shape there in living good. The believes now many Americans and other foreigners have to realize that, when you retire, it is best to retire overseas like the Philippines and several other places too. Because the example of the dollar value as compared to many countries in the world will go farther. Now, in America, you see many who suffer with social security retirement payments. If they took a chance and retire in the Philippines they can live minimum as a knight, prince, princess, Queen or King lifestyle. Thank you Calvin for keeping me focus on retiring in the Philippines estimates around 2025. Now time to share this great video. Enjoy the life with family, friends Calvin brother in the Philippines. Happy for you.

Only things I hate about the philippines are that the businesses cheat you out of money. Like the airlines not giving a penny of credit when you need to cancel days in advance, when they used to give 50%. Or a restaurant giving a different salad that what I asked for but still charging for the rejected and replacement salad. Or buying outdated soy milk that turned out to be spoiled but refused to refund. Or a scooter rental telling me to bring the gas back at 3/4 where it was when I rented, then keeping my deposit for bringing it back at 3/4 tank. Or the hotel claiming I took 22 water's out of the fridge when I took less than 10 and keeping all the dark chocolate bars I left in the fridge by mistake (Cant buy true dark chocolate in Phil). And then try converting $100 US bills at the bank and see how they examine each one like a dermatologist examines you for skin cancer. It will drive you crazy as they reject one after the other. If you cash out for hundreds at home, make sure the bank gives you new ones and make sure you don't even make the slightest smudge on it or the slightest wrinkle or dog ear on a corner, or you will be getting 10k peso hits at the atm with fees.

I've noticed that most often when there is a discussion about retirement it almost always hinges on how much money one should accumulate in order to retire, but very rarely does it seem mention is made of the importance of lowering our standard of living in order to balance out the need for greater amounts of money.
I've often argued that, for most people, if you want to live in retirement like you lived when you were working, well, guess what, you have to keep working. But, if we're willing to do without the many wants we chased after and limit ourselves primarily to satisfying our needs, we'll find out that our needs are not as great as our wants, and we can get along just fine with less money. It requires an adjustment, and an adjustment that we should all start working on before we even leave our respective countries to go elsewhere.

Hello Bro Calvin. Again very good content. Dont let the swab test stop your travel plans. I believe you may have had an new nurse perform it. The key is, close your eyes, deep breath then be calm. I have taken 12 swabs since this situation. One county clinic makes you swab yourself. I have given myself three swabs so far. All 12 negative. Still waiting to get back to Cavite. Looks like it wont be to next year. Take care to you and family.

I don’t live in the Philippines, but my wife and I have been visiting there since we’ve been married 1983, we have a home there. What I do notice is that the foreigners I meet, many of them Americans, are living off of Social Security of less than $1200 and no pension or little or no savings. Younger guys have come there hoping to make money just on TH-cam and little savings. I think you’re doing a great service by informing folks who want to travel or live in the Philippines what it takes to live comfortably. But unfortunately, what comes into play for many is the little head thinking for the big head.

Calvin become more and more encouraged every time you give us perspectives on everyday living in the Philippines and the value it presents as opposed to living in the United States. So it is a year and a half maybe 2 years tops down the road, I cannot wait to get over there and experience the advantages of expat living. I love my wife, and she has a kind of twisted. Over here she is gamefully employed which means she can make lots of money for herself and to send back home to her family. But I'm trying to explain to her that once I get my pension and we move back to the Philippines unless she wants to continue working for her family there will be no need for her to work for our household we keep a tight budget we will be set and we will be able to live comfortably. Thanks to you for always providing vital information 💯
