Bro, your videos made me want to go to Singapore -- the food looks incredible! I love how diverse it is too. I don't know Chinese, though, but it looks like a lot of people have some amount of English. I do like that you try to engage with people in Chinese and it makes me want to learn some phrases too!
Coz Boon Keng is old people district. Many 1 bedroom oldies living alone. Many corporates and charity orgsnization usually visit there to visit the old folks. They probably retired when meals were still $3 😅
Yeah and man it all looks good specially the siew Mai you just film! The only one I see that huge will be in NYC and with that price that can’t beat anything 😊waiting for more food intro from you soon 🤞🏻
@@serenehaggerty351 haven’t been back to NYC for 10 years already.. time flies.. now I watch Haruday. A Korean lady who just films her daily life around radio city and kings park area😄
Kway chap is the square shaped rice sheets parboiled then doused with the braising gravy mixed with the starchy water and not dark soy sauce. About 30 years ago, Ah Xiao was at New Upper Changi Rd, not Upper Changi Rd and is about 500M apart.
Indeed, Piggy. One of the coolest aspects of the hawker centres is how they function as informal Senior Citizens Centres. No labeling or stigma attached to popping into your local HC to see friends and grab a bite to eat. Do they have outreach workers that use these naturally occurring gathering of elders to connect people to services? Oh, and in general, how well seniors are treated in Singapore and how much care they are given, particularly by relatives, is one of the best aspects of the country. However, the nation really should work harder at pumping out children. I saw the fertility rate had dropped to a new low in yesterday's ST.
Yes they do Mark.. eg. At Jalan Ku Koh.. i hear there are social workers in the area who would go around the flats to check on elders.. but I’m not sure if this is just a volunteery kinda thing. I see them conducting community exercise for elders at the common area. I also see many couples without kids.. maybe having a harder time conceiving due to work stress in Singapore 🇸🇬.
the fried dough with glutinous rice, we cantonese called it kap zhong. More commonly seen in Malaysia. Always wanted to try the beef noodles but the queue though!!! That Indonesian curry rice looks delicious! Tried the lo mai gai stall once, hmmmm ok only for me. Not really worth queuing so long for it. Plus I'm biased too as my grandma made the best lo mai gai and I missed my grandfather's baos ha! They have a very nice wanton mee stall as well which also sells out super fast. Previously I tried another stall at on corner of the hawker selling different types of noodles? Can't remember what else is on the menu. Her Thai style wanton mee was really good.
You could have ordered something to eat from another stall without queue, and then join a queue while eating what you had bought from the first stall 😂😂😅😄😃😋😋😋😋😋😄😄
Too bad the Chee Cheong fun no more… but u covered most of the stuff at this hawker centre.. the long q beef noodle.. and Indonesian curry rice rendang beef or mutton… the prawn noodle used to be at Sims Drive last time…
TBH I'm from NZ la SID curency is similar to NZ why so cheap for aunties n uncles to charge customers when they work so hard prepping food to serve? Piggypuggy pls go do research you got a job buddy!!
Well.. for years they’ve been selling it from $1.50 till $3.50 now.. the older hawkers have their neighbourhood regulars who are probably retirees and frequent them often for a convenient meal. It’s only the younger hawkers who are now selling $5-6 a bowl kinda pricing. Honestly.. there’s a huge income gap in Singapore. Some struggle with a $3.50 meal at their old age (while worrying about exorbitant medical costs) while the younger generation below 35 doesn’t give a hoot about a $10 meal. Which I think is the reason why newer hawker centres need to offer a mandatory meal at $3.50 or less. And we also notice the Govt constantly handing out $100 incentives yearly where each household is able to use it at hawker centres
PUT THE SPOON DOWN AND WALK AWAY FROM THE HAWKER! Will there be any left when I fly in from Canada (-28C today)? Save some for the rest of us... pleeeease. Hiyo! Go easy on the sugar cane juice, I'll be thirsty when I arrive.

Loving it and is amazing how most of the stores were popular with long queues… still pretty affordable in that area! 💫🌟

Hello C 😄
Hmmm... The beef soup looks great! 😁 Planning to go coming Monday... Are they open on Mondays bro? 😅
That's isn't garlic paste on your beef noodles. it's chinchalo {prawn paste}.
You sure that white yellowish paste isnt some sorta garlic paste? 😅 I’ve been avoiding it for multiple decades.. ok next time I put.. chinchalok..
Thanks again 🙏 for pointing out to me.. 😄
It's totally different from the garlic paste that you have in Lor Mee. Not all stores have it.
Wnere this place
