Goodluck going to the Elvui devs and saying anything is wrong with it. That Flamanis person is extremely aggressive towards anyone that asks for help for some reason.
Part 1 of this video had a great affect on me. I was determined to find all the things tanking my FPS. I found that graphics settings were tanking my framerate more than everything else after I got rid of all the Weakaura models. I watched a Quazil graphics settings video and fixed all the framerate issues. Even something simple like lowering the liquid detail significantly affected how much the frame rate was affected. Thank you for the video. It made me do the work necessary to make playing the game easier and more fun.
Yeah i've seen his graphics settings video, couple things in it i disagree with though and some things he missed, but it's otherwise still a great video that is very helpful. I still plan on making similar tomorrow because addons and the engine are actually super my wheel house (i've been tech support mvp for blizzard for 15 years, and have direct line to engine devs and know practically as much about it as an employee). There are things i know i can cover that just haven't been covered yet.
Thanks for sharing. 3rd video soon. i covered weak auras, other addons, next is just bad and good game settings. I know others have done similar guides but i've watched them i've read them and many good tips but also many not good tips or some tips that are missed. addons and engine are my wheel house, so I feel I can still drop some unique infos that nobody knows yet.
I was already using the most optimal graphic settings , but your previous video helped me a great deal ! Didnt know about the weakaura model thing , i had 1 in my class WA and 1 in the dragonflying weakaura thing . Deleted both of them , no WA crash or anything , they still work perfectly but i got even more than 10-20 fps increase . Its insane . I was looking forward a video like this (lol actually i found you yesterday by searching for ElvUI optimization ) . So thank you very much , doing great work for the community !
Please continue commenting and giving feedback on other addon experiences or issues you've found affected your performance. I'm still collecting feedback for more things to test, and pass onto blizzard as well as more things I can maybe help with such as going over settings of game or addons. I'll be uploading a part 3 going over settings that kill fps, and how best tricks to getting most performance out of game, when you've already culled in or disabled addons. That was also gonna be in this video but my alarm got set off during recording and then things got chaotic so I ended up editing that mess out and i'll record settings in a separate video. probably for best anyways as it was nearly a 40 minute video, best split (and probably restructured) to not be as long and more quick going through settings anyways. When I go over settings though I plan to be more in depth and technical than most but still in simple terms because I have a greater understanding of engine than most and can really help with tweaks most others who do graphics settings videos miss.
For me, the biggest impact on WoW performance is definitely resolution. It's not just about graphics performance, on the contrary, with a higher resolution, it should go more to the GPU than to the CPU, and that doesn't happen in Wow. I play 2/4K ultra-wide and it's a total disaster even with a high-end setup. Wow unfortunately has a terribly outdated engine and addons/weak auras don't help it. The fact that the game does not include DLSS speaks volumes for its status. When I set the resolution scale to 1080p, I don't actually experience any FPS drops. I9 14900k RTX 4090 DDR5 64GB NVME 2.0
the game not having DLSS or FSR 2/3 or XeSS definitely holds it back. But it does have FSR 1 and it's super useful to pushing higher resolutions. FSR 1 does have a bug on some windows machines though where it doesn't work or actually tanks performance though. But if you aren't on one of those machines then if you have a 4k machine I suggest setting render scale to 75% and setting sampling to FSR 1.0. it'll get a nice performance boost without introducing any notable artifacting or shimmering that you typically see with more aggressive FSR. it'd basically of high balanced/low quality preset in most other games. you could also try 66 or 50^% render scale to push more frames but at that point you may lose sharpness on grass edges
LoL was made in 2008, so like 4 yrs after wow? Yet even a gtx 1080 can hold 240 fps with maxed out settings at 1080p (i know cuz i am doing that now). Lol's optimization is great while wow's is trash. Both games look like shit when compared to stuff like Cyberpunk 2077 or Black Myth Wukong, so neither has an excuse to not have 240 fps with a half decent gpu. Blizzard is just cheap or idk what. How are they so bad at optimization?
Could you maybe make a video about the "best" graphics setting to get the most FPS possible? I read somewhere else that disabling e.g. Target FPS is not helping to increase FPS because of the engine etc. Would really appreciate your knowledge on that end.
best way to fix your laggy addons is to install a bunch that are functionally similar (for example a dps meter like details, skada, recount, etc) and profiling them with a memory usage addon such as addon usage or broker. WAs also have a built-in profiling tool with the commands /wa pstart, /wa pstop, & /wa pprint
true. i almost always lean to lighter weight but also factor in features. to not make too many concessions. ie if it’s lighter because it does less it’s not always better. you weight your needs and options.
i have 300 fps outside of major cities, but the moment i go into Dornogal my fps drops to 80. dont get me started when we pull queen ansurek with more than 20 people. playing mythic fights with 40 fps is not fun. Edit: the addons i use are shadowed uns, details (1s intervals), bartender, decursive, weakaura and bigwigs. i dont use a class weakaura and never had issues with weakaura in general.
Yeah, i really wish they had gotten engine improvements in they wanted to do for dragonflight that got canceled due to greedy execs. burns my goat to think about performance we didn't get cause someone needed a Q4 bonus. i can mostly keep at 60fps in raids but yeah it's still annoying that i can enjoy 120 everywhere else but soon as i'm in a city or a raid, might as well lock it to 60. i just lock it to 60 at all times for frame consistency cause going back and forth is jarring. that said, i basically run 60 ultra at 4k minus raytracing and compute shaders cause they're wasteful resources with little gain.
I highly recommend to activate vsync or set a limit to your fps based on your monitor. So if you have 60Hz Monitor = 60FPS. Otherwise youre pushing your gpu to limits which is not needed. My GPU can produce 300 FPS as well but the GPU is then at 85°. The engine is bugged for some reason.
After using ElvUI with my own profiles since *Cata* I ditched it for the new stock UI since the DF prepatch. The FPS gains in raid were Huge. I have Details set to a low/slow update period, and I Hate plater, I run KUI Nameplates with my custom profile.
ironically that's how I always said it, but as i said in other videos comments, like 3 people kept correcting me for saying it wrong when i was saying it like model, cause they told me it's pronounced differently when describing the WA feature versus the context you might find for model airplanes or fassion model or 3d model or wahtever. I dunno. i was probably just being trolled by guildies at a point but they kept telling me it's mode el not mod el so in video i said it differently. if it was a troll it was successful 🤣
Lucky for me i dont have issues at all with any addons. Probably because i make my own profiles for every addon and i dont just download naowh ui mega package
I have FPS being tanked by Unitframes, i really dislike the base player unitframe and its just unplayable on some fights, what alternatives wont eat my CPU?
I am simply convinced no matter if your pc is worth 10k or 1k, there will always be major fps drop in major cities. And yes my pc is worth 10k, with addons or without i am always seeing major fps drops.
not entirely wrong. cpu bound to all hell. but admittedly I still do alright. but i'll show in my 3rd video (was part of 2nd but moved to 3rd due to a whole mess of stuff), that I can still hold fairly steady above 60 but easily shoot up to 120 outside of cities and raids. typically it's why i cap at 60 and just enjoy highest 4k fidelity. strike perfect balance so i'm keeping gpu bound while staying within limits of being cpu bound. settings video probably still gonna be 20-30 min cause it's gonna be giga thorough :D
I’m sad ELVUI was really dragging down my FPS. I saw a +20 FPS in raid without ELVUI installed. Hopefully they optimize it better in the future, because I’ve always liked the clean look of it.
@@mysticalos i also play in 4k with all setting maxed out, I've just capped my fps at 80fps. More so for smooth obs recording. Noticed when my fps settings were higher than 80fps, I had very choppy playback with my 4k recordings.
Goodluck going to the Elvui devs and saying anything is wrong with it. That Flamanis person is extremely aggressive towards anyone that asks for help for some reason.
Don’t get the appeal of elvui also, one of the most overrated addons

Using a cpu analyzer UI addons are pretty heavy. SUI includes was my heaviest, 2x my entire WA package in a raid.

This is almost the eact same setup that I use, except I use elvui instead of bartender
Do you have Raytracing turned on? Or Physics effects for all NPCs - because that can TANK your fps.

What addons do I need to have similar effect of elvui? bags, actionbars, party and raid frames.
im using Shadowed Unit Frames + Plater (but i think shadowed ui is also not superb but lighter than whole elvui)
Lucky for me i dont have issues at all with any addons. Probably because i make my own profiles for every addon and i dont just download naowh ui mega package
yeah i really am not a big fan of user made packs. especially ones that aren’t addon authors. but i get that they are popular and why
I have FPS being tanked by Unitframes, i really dislike the base player unitframe and its just unplayable on some fights, what alternatives wont eat my CPU?
I use shadowed unit frames but there may be others.
I use shadowed unitframes and they're working well for me
Any suggestions for replacing the debuff indicator on nameplates when ditching ElvUI for the base UI? It’s the only thing that keeps me using ElvUI
probably just a nameplate addon like kui nampelates for lighter weight or plater for heavy duty features and more sharable user profiles.
@@mysticalos thanks! What about unit frames? I think that’s what I might have meant 😅
With or without addon it runs like shit, nothing improve fps. i test everything. thanks for the advice anyway
what hardware specs you using? might be able to recommend some tweaks

buy a ryzen 7 7800x3d and load all ur WA shits and play 120fps 30 man raids :)
