myth questions: do seeds go bad over time? does music effect plant growth? is municipal water safe for microgreens or do you need filters? actual question: how much ocean solution should i be adding to each tray? im testing with hemp growing mats right now, starting with nutrient solution during germination for the first watering, germinating for 3 days no watering, bringing to lights on 4th day and only using plain water til harvest. also, do you have a list of all your microgreens? they look so huge compared to what im growing right now looking forward to more videos!
@CubeRhinoDev great myth ideas! To answer your question about Ocean Solution, you'll want to follow the recommendations on the product label to determine the proper mixture. I apologize i don't know the ratio off the top of my head, as we haven't used it in over 4 years, once we switched to soil. 🙂
@CubeRhinoDev we grow a lot of varieties. Here's a list off the top of my head: Amaranth Arugula Basil Beets Broccoli Cabbage Cantaloupe Celery Chard Cilantro Cress Kale Kohlrabi Peas Popcorn Radish Sorrel Spicy Salad Mix Sunflower Wheatgrass
@@AndyMussaw seeing everyone using soil, is it because of the cost per tray? hemp mats in bulk we bought were $1.5 usd per mat. we just live in a city area and didnt want to deal with the dirt, cleanup and disposal if possible. wanted to experiment with other grow mediums but there seems to be little info out there on it. like comparisons of coco coir bricks & hemp mats, vs burlap and other cloth materials the info is very sparse. maybe you could do a test trial or something with all the good materials and like a pea or sunflower grow? id def be interested in the content
@@AndyMussaw wow you do a lot! i thought to stick with the 4 recommended ones at first, sunflower, broccoli, radish and peas while im learning the business. what would you recommend we jump into next? or is there like a difficulty ranking for each one you would say?
@@AndyMussaw oh also, forgot to ask. didnt see what racks you recommended on the other video showing the tour of your location(looks amazing btw!). was trying to buy a few and was not sure the right dimensions to get so many trays
Have generally used Promix MP as a grow medium and found that the seeds will in fact dry out during germination (71F ~40% Humidity). Any tips/ways to adjust other than just more water? Was concerned about mold issues from overwatering w/ brassicas + peas.
All good! We also used MP Organik for about 4-6 months before switching back to FoxFarm Coco Loco, after we found we were losing around 20% of our yield weights, per tray. We did find that they took a little more water than the Coco Loco (maybe about 1/3rd more). I'd suggest trying some experiments to see how much water you need to give them to where they're not falling over the next day. Just keep in mind that the amount of water needed may vary based on the time of year, dryness of the soil, etc. If they're slightly falling over the next day, that's ok! They will bounce back with that day's watering. You just don't want them to be fully limp the next day. :) Mold is more a result of lack of air flow than lightly overwatering.
@ thanks for the great info! So interesting that yields went up with just pure coco? I have been traditionally under what I’d expect for yield based on generic numbers people post in the community, especially w peas so maybe that’s it. Would you recommend any amendments (I have Gaia green) with coco or just straight medium?
@@ryansearles6078 sorry for the confusion, our numbers were higher with FoxFarm Coco Loco, which is not straight coco coir, it's a soil mix. :) Because it's a soil mix, it doesn't require amendments at all!
Great info Andy! Thanks 🙏
thank you so much!
So insightful. I am returning my small fans i bought back to amazon haha!!
@marcmccoy1043 awesome! No need to waste money on those!

what settings do you keep the fan on?
@@marcmccoy1043 we keep them on "medium" so the plants don't dry out, but it's still strong enough to produce enough air flow.
do you have a price list for your microgreens?

@@AndyMussaw thanks for the clarification. Just looked at the Foxfarm CL and seems like a great product. How much do you generally use per tray?
@ryansearles6078 about 1.75 quarts
even in soil, ocean solution boosted my broccoli yealds by 50gms/tray
Yup! They definitely love nutrients!
