- Located in the Gifford-Pinchot National Forest just South of Mt. Rainier National Park, Juniper Ridge is part of the Dark Divide area and the views are out of this world. The climbing is also out of this world, and there isn't really an obvious way to ride this entire ridge in one day. So this video contains some options.

Excellent thanks - I’ve been poring over this area on a map so it’s good to see an actual recommendation
The 'peak' at 5:20 is just below Juniper Peak which is an easy climb of a few hundred feet of elevation from the south side. I am surprised that you ignored Juniper Peak in the video and didn't even include a shot of it. After all Juniper Ridge is named after Juniper Peak.
Live and learn, I guess. 🤷♂️
Timberline bike park is now open and it is getting a new jump trail in a week or two, it would be cool if you did a video on the park
Looking at going here this weekend. Do you have any information on the other part of Juniper ridge from where you joined it at the top of the sunrise trail? Looking at heading south down juniper ridge then taking dark meadow back to the parking lot and making a loop out of it. Thanks for any infor!
Andrew Wittwer The climb to the top of Juniper going South is 1800 feet of pure hell. Pushing up Moto ruts the entire time. But, the descent down Juniper and Dark Meadow is pure magical prancing unicorns and rainbows. One of the best descents out there. Worth it. Do it.
@@VoiceOverTrailReviews Awesome! This is the first I've been able to hear about Dark Meadow. Hoping to put together an epic ride this weekend and shuttle all the way to the sunrise rise trail head and hit both dark meadow AND tongue mountain in one day.
Andrew Wittwer Cool! Just know that it will take at least 3 hours to push up from Sunrise and descend DM. That’s not including the shuttle. I’ll be releasing a review for Juniper to Dark Meadow soon(ish).
A question - can an intermediate rider do the black trails on the great divide?
You should get a moto. I ride mtb but these trails are a hell of a lot more fun on a moto
How much does it cost to go on a guided ride?
Trans Cascadia charged us 90 bucks, but this was a one time thing and they didn't tell us the trails we'd be riding ahead of time. www.transcascadiaexcursions.com/
You forgot to mention that the only water on the ridge is in a little pond at the bottom of the Devils Staircase and you really don't want to drink from that pond without a filter.
Yeah, I keep forgetting those little details. Thanks!
Who doesn't like a foot deep moto rut?
Me. I don't like a foot deep moto rut.
