- A playthrough of SNK's 1991 bowling game for the Neo Geo AES, League Bowling.
This video shows a game of each of the three game types: Regulation, Flash, and Strike 90.
League Bowling is one of the Neo Geo's earliest classics. It is an extremely simple game, but the easy controls, brightly colored anime-style visuals, and peppy music make it a lot of fun between a group of friends.
League Bowling was also one of the carts that had a link-cable port installed in the top of its case: this allowed you, provided you had 2 systems, games, and four controllers, to play four-player match-ups. I doubt many people ever took advantage of this - in 1991, 2 systems with the game and 4 controllers would've cost about $1500 or so (nearly $3000 in 2017 dollars when adjusted for inflation) - but it was a great feature for those that who had more money than God.
And don't scowl at it when you see the box and realize it's one of the smallest Neo carts at 26 megabits (appx. 3.5 megabytes). The game was produced in 1990 - the biggest carts on other systems hit 8 megabits at the time - and considering the relative lack of complexity for a game such as this, it's still has plenty of flashy animations and sound samples to entertain you.
It may lack depth, but the sheer playability and fun to be found in League Bowling make it a great pick for anyone that wants a quick and easy-to-play game that they can break out with the beer whenever friends stop by.

This ancient Neo Geo classic is still one of my favorites for the system - it's fast, simple, and lot of fun to play with a buddy. Perfect for chillin with a six-pack.

The character emotions are the most amusing parts of the game. I play this a lot on my Neo Geo X.
Neo•Geo had a lot of really good sports titles. Neo Turfmasters, League Bowling, Street Slam, Wind Jammers, Base Ballstars, Super Dodgeball.. Good times.
This has to be a house hold name by SNK I wonder when they will make a reboot?

Still as fun as it was in 1990! It's very strange that it isn't available to purchase on PSN or eShop. Only on Xbox.
I'm big into these ACA Neo Geo games. I've noticed League Bowling, The Super Spy, and Garou MOW aren't available in this series on the US version of the Playstation Store. (although Garou MOW is thankfully available as a normal PS4 title at least, but the other two you can't play on PS4/5) They are available on Xbox and Switch to me in the US.
I hope SNK makes a fancy reboot someday and name the characters too and toys and trading card games too SNK is one of 🇯🇵 legends.

Yeah took me a long time to realize that game was a sham remake. Great effort to remake the game in Flash but seems far more difficult than the original to get a strike!
