2016 t880 mx13 paccar Kenworth did a HORRIBLE job routing and protecting the wiring on these trucks. 300k miles, and there are wires all over the place that got zip tied too tight to sharp steel edges, they rub through the wire sleeves everywhere.
The biggest problem I have with the paccar engine is lack of dealer training etc ..... Every time I've ever had a problem with a check engine light / engine shut down I've had to continuously take the truck to the dealer due to the simple fact that outside repair shops don't have access to Davie or similar software. 9 times out of 10 this meant multiple return visits back to the dealer most of the time my driver or I would make it about 5 mi down the road before the engine shut down lite would return ... Multiple problems with wiring harnesses for the emissions that I was stuck paying for until someone informed me that there was a service bulletin or recall after I spent thousands of chasing ghost repairs. Then there was the EGR valve repair which normally I could have done myself except for the simple fact the quick connects for the coolant lines on the EGR never worked properly and dealership informed me that there's a retrofit kit and I'd be looking at about $4,000+ for a simple EGR valve ..... I bought used EGR valve and a brass compression fitting fix that... Then there was a problem with horsepower multiple times I was told that the engines had a 500 horsepower rating let's just cut that in half and that's about the performance I received out of the mx-13 engine.
2016 t680 paccar gauge cluster suddenly bugs out all gauges move left to right and along with this all lights and transmission alerts come on together athe the same time then suddenly stops back to normal for a bit
Thanks. I’m running a 17 t680 with mx13. Nobody can prime fuel system after pm without throwing check engine light. Also, any owner op with an mx13 needs an OTR Reset tool. That thing has gotten me out of more than a few bad situations with the aftertreatment system

2019 t680 no crank no start as well. They think its the mtm computer. Because it's showing 2 stars ** by the transmission. Could it be a bad rely, however?
My t680 kennworth shows a +75 on the AMPS only when I start the truck. After driving it goes back to normal. This causes the truck to have delayed difficult start, but will start ever time
Hey thank you for knowledge! I am currently having my t680 at the dealer trying to find an electrical issue which they can’t seem to find. Trucks has been there for a week but went in for transmission not responding. I have had the XY shifter replaced 2 weeks ago. They told me I had a FMI 4 code which is a low voltage or short to ground and they a new wire harness would fix it. However after replaced it they said 2 new codes come up and that the ECA and TCM are not communicating. Any advice? They said ECA isn’t bad

I got codes 22 35 64 74 thru and ignition reset and code 3488 thru pedal reset. I’m really scratching my head on this one and most mechanics where I’m at don’t really work on auto transmissions
@@JoeyPlus5 we had a similar problem on out t880 with allison automatic transmission not responding and we found a loose ground wire in the cab. The ground wire is kinda behind the brake pedal on the driver side floor. We tightened the ground nut and that multiple problems for us.
I had a similar issue as well. There was a short wire somewhere and no mechanic could find it and also had the transmission fault. Dealer changer the PDC component, new chassis harness and installed a new transmission lever. So far so good for now.
Get rid of it. Make sure they are giving you a loaner for your downtime. We have many of these trucks, and the techs at kenworth can't find the problems. They have had to replace so many wire harnesses, some with luck, and some without. I had a 20 yr old truck and never had these problems.
I'm running a T610 and the left indicator stopped working. Tested the light and is working . Now stuck . Any suggestions before I spend a lot more than I should please?

Hey steve what would you say about a Kenworth t680 cab marker lights not working. On my trailer everything works as should but my cab marker lights will not work. I changed the fuse and have checked the relays not sure what else to do without having it in the dealer for a week. Thanks I appreciate it.
If you check the fuses and the relays are good than unfortunately you may have to go to a shop to get hooked up to the computer and to have the wire harness checked out. You may have corrosion or damage on that harness.
Did you turn on all the switches? :) i say that as a joke, but i don't know how many drivers i have seen go to the shop for the same issue just to find out they were not turning on the switch next to the headlight switch.
Im checking everything with Kenworth I’ve got transmission fault light and hill access on then all gauges acting up and stop engine light stop light flashing it’s comes and then after 15 to 20 minutes go back sometimes need to shut off engine then acting properly and same stuff after some times
I have a scr fault code throwing a short in doser valve. We rdplaced and went back to dealer and erased and cleared and 500 miles same code and went into limp mode. This is for a 2016 KW T680 w/ Paccar MX 13. Thanks for the info on the fuse by the fire wall I'll get the Tech to check this one out and let you know. I just got this truck, first trip out we haven't made it back. Issues started with high EGR valve back home, turned out the bracket that connects the upper valve and lower valve somehow fell off. We fabricated the part to specs and installed it. Before this it had not power. It felt like it was dragging. We replaced the little arm and ran it with trailer. No codes. Power was back to normal. Put it on its first run 1,500 miles later and de-rated. It was asking for a Regen but wouldn't take one by pressing forced switch. Road side came out and tried doing a forced Regen with computer but nothing. Towed it in to shop and they checked the EGR, and was told it checked out fine. QUESTION: Does anyone know if that bracket falls off whether the EGR will fall out of calibration and the only way to get it back to specs is to purchase one? I've heard once out of calibration it's no good, is this true? They replaced DEF Level and Quality sensor, but nothing. Cleared the codes but they kept comping back and wouldn't allow for forced regen. Two weeks into this mystery and Techs can't figure it out. QUESTION: Will this next step work? The next planned step was to wipe the computer and reinstall software to try and get codes off and regen. This will be done by a Tech from the KW dealership. Supposedly requires Paccar to release some passwords to do so. QUESTION: Does any one feel this might be the EGR valve after all? QUESTION: What about the crankcase filter and pressure sensor? QUESTION: Or how about the Particulate matter sensor? Is it possible the DPF needs to be completely cleaned? Thanks!

My truck was tripping me out just now. Stopped at a truck stop. Went in. Came back...no key in ignition and lights/dash display was on and coming up with warnings going off for adaptive cruise and stop engine and beeping. Started truck, then turned off and engine wouldn't shut off for a second.
I have a 2015 T680 and blue beacon washed under the hood and my left low beam went out so I brought a new bulb and still out I took the original bulb and put it in the right side and it came on so it's not the bulb do you think it's a fuse for just one side of the head light?
Hey Brian, always check the fuse first. If it is not the blown, you may have to replace the whole headlight assembly as the wash person may have destroyed it with the water. We have seen it-before. Any time they you have someone as the truck they need to be careful when washing around any electrical components, headlights and especially the computers around the engine compartment. Direct contact at high pressure will certainly damage it. They should know better but mistakes do happen.
@@STANKY_NUTZ The fuse for the head light would be located on the driver side under the hood on the front wall. There is no fuse for the washer fluid as it get its signals from the body controller
@LRMLeasing I changed the harness I got both high beams on but still no low beam, I forgot to mention I smelled a a eletrical burning smell by my battery box and that's why I'm thinking they went out

2016 T680 Pacar/auto 580k miles makes noise when starting. Intermittent noises, varied sound, sometimes loud enough it sounds like something could break. Always starts ok. Starter/batteries checked out. Any idea what the problem could be?
Hey Joe, that is a tough one without being there. Could you be more specific of the location of where the noise is coming from. I know it sounds simple but you just have to start tracing sound and work your way out from there.

But it's intermittent and I've not been able to get it to do it in the presence of a mechanic (probably 4 of them). I was hoping you had come across this same issue before and could point me in the right direction, but possibly it's not a common problem.
did the fuel pressure code pop up right after an oil change? If so, they most likely they did not use a machine to pressurize the fueling system. After sometime the code should clear on its own. If it was not after an oil change feel free to provide the full fault code here and we be happy to get back to you
I have an 87 Kenworth 8v92 with Electronic fuel injectors. I can't get it started . It won't hit even on ether . I've cleared all the fuel lines and cleaned all the injectors . It just cranks and cranks and cranks

I have a 18 t680 with a paccar and I ve been having 2 warnings coming up for quite a while and then they leave but until they leave it’s burning me fuel doing regen on motion I guess. The major light that comes up all the time says SHOOT LEVEL HIGH then I keep driving and it throws a message that the engine is derate thru drivetrain but after a while it will go away on its own. I want to fix it because probably some day it will get worst. And am not going to dealership again for repairs cause they charge ridiculous amounts and they are not that great as they try to sell professionalism. Anyhow.. Can you work on my truck? Could you check it out?
Coolant seems be always building pressure n leaking u can see it boiling up in there by the release end got keep steady so no leak now every time in shop shop take money no fix no repair issue 😅😅
We have many of these trucks, and all are fairly new. Too many electrical problems to mention. Too much down time. And also have had to replace so many harnesses. This should not be acceptable. I had a 20 yr old truck, and never had any electrical issues like these trucks.
What causes a truck to overheat?! Just ideling it goes over 210°. Never been like this before. Can you help out LRM?! My fan kicks on and cools it down, every 2 minutes it heats back up over 210° and the fan kicks on and cools it down again. Kenworth or Pape can't figure it out either. What can i do to fix this?!?!
so, I would need to see the symbol to be sure. but in a KW it could be for the exhaust system telling you that its hot or that the fan is on for cooling for the coolant system
Stacy Hukill, did you find out what the issue was with your truck? I pulled up to the consignee last night and my truck wouldn't turn off either. I finally got it off and then I started it again and it fired right up.

My problem started today when I started wiping the dash board and button with a wet rag now none of the buttons work

I am having problem with no movement on the passsenger side mirror the heated mirror work but no movement

Check fuses, manually move the mirror a bit, sometimes they get stuck, especially in winter with all the stuff from the roads.

So, I would have the body controller checked out. Unfortunately, you would need to go to a shop and have the computer hooked up and test the body controller. Good luck!
My truck was tripping me out just now. Stopped at a truck stop. Went in. Came back...no key in ignition and lights/dash display was on and coming up with warnings going off for adaptive cruise and stop engine and beeping. Started truck, then turned off and engine wouldn't shut off for a second.

I have a 2015 T680 and blue beacon washed under the hood and my left low beam went out so I brought a new bulb and still out I took the original bulb and put it in the right side and it came on so it's not the bulb do you think it's a fuse for just one side of the head light?
Hey Brian, always check the fuse first. If it is not the blown, you may have to replace the whole headlight assembly as the wash person may have destroyed it with the water. We have seen it-before. Any time they you have someone as the truck they need to be careful when washing around any electrical components, headlights and especially the computers around the engine compartment. Direct contact at high pressure will certainly damage it. They should know better but mistakes do happen.
@@LRMLeasing where is that fuse for the left headlight? Do you know where the window washer fuse is located? I can't find either one
@@STANKY_NUTZ The fuse for the head light would be located on the driver side under the hood on the front wall. There is no fuse for the washer fluid as it get its signals from the body controller
@LRMLeasing I changed the harness I got both high beams on but still no low beam, I forgot to mention I smelled a a eletrical burning smell by my battery box and that's why I'm thinking they went out

Hey Anthony, its a tough to tell by the video but its definitely a communications issue. We recommend looking at the body controller.
I have an electric issue dealer want to replace fuel pumps fuel rail filters Egr valve and Knox sencers because codes are active .. after all that still trick said shut off engine .. and now they found o ring that was cracked replace it and still truck lost power and having sane issues.. Need help and yes my lights on my hood stay on after I turn off truck

2016 T680 Pacar/auto 580k miles makes noise when starting. Intermittent noises, varied sound, sometimes loud enough it sounds like something could break. Always starts ok. Starter/batteries checked out. Any idea what the problem could be?
Hey Joe, that is a tough one without being there. Could you be more specific of the location of where the noise is coming from. I know it sounds simple but you just have to start tracing sound and work your way out from there.
@@LRMLeasing Thanks for the reply. Basically the noise comes from the engine compartment. But it's intermittent and I've not been able to get it to do it in the presence of a mechanic (probably 4 of them). I was hoping you had come across this same issue before and could point me in the right direction, but possibly it's not a common problem.

did the fuel pressure code pop up right after an oil change? If so, they most likely they did not use a machine to pressurize the fueling system. After sometime the code should clear on its own. If it was not after an oil change feel free to provide the full fault code here and we be happy to get back to you

I have an 87 Kenworth 8v92 with Electronic fuel injectors. I can't get it started . It won't hit even on ether . I've cleared all the fuel lines and cleaned all the injectors . It just cranks and cranks and cranks

Hey man, thanks for sharing this video. I have a 18 t680 with a paccar and I ve been having 2 warnings coming up for quite a while and then they leave but until they leave it’s burning me fuel doing regen on motion I guess. The major light that comes up all the time says SHOOT LEVEL HIGH then I keep driving and it throws a message that the engine is derate thru drivetrain but after a while it will go away on its own. I want to fix it because probably some day it will get worst. And am not going to dealership again for repairs cause they charge ridiculous amounts and they are not that great as they try to sell professionalism. Anyhow..

Coolant seems be always building pressure n leaking u can see it boiling up in there by the release end got keep steady so no leak now every time in shop shop take money no fix no repair issue 😅😅
We have many of these trucks, and all are fairly new. Too many electrical problems to mention. Too much down time. And also have had to replace so many harnesses. This should not be acceptable. I had a 20 yr old truck, and never had any electrical issues like these trucks.

so, I would need to see the symbol to be sure. but in a KW it could be for the exhaust system telling you that its hot or that the fan is on for cooling for the coolant system
