I really enjoyed your sense of harmonic accompaniment, and the "movement", in your approach to musical interpretation. Passing chords, never a dull moment, very full rich polyphonic playing. You definitely got something. Something good. Yeah good music, from your fingers. Good job. That rendition of "there is none like you", is so good. Good job.
I got mine last Saturday!!! I got tired of spending 2-3 hours in guitar center everytime, playing the M8x.. The keys feel amazing and the sounds and the way you can edit things is great... Its soo much you can do and learn.
Man, Andrew they need to hire you to do all the auditions on their next keyboard. I would spend hours learning all the auditions if you did them. FIRE, silly me, I have the Montage M8X, I’m gonna find every sound you just found and play your auditions. Wow, love your style . . . .
I have the first generation Montage and I can clearly hear a difference in the audio fidelity especially in the acoustic and electric piano sounds. Amazing playing as usual!!!!🔥🔥🔥
You are incredible man, in addition to being an excellent musician, you have a lot of knowledge and ability to talk about any subject related to music and keyboard technology! Success!
Andrew, that board is amazing, but I think they are just still behind Kronos it just to Deep. Yamaha and Roland have closed the gap some. Great Video 😊 ❤
Main question is whether it’s worth the upgrade in comparison to the original Montage 8? Used montage 8 in good condition can be found at 2000 - 2500 usd vs the new M8X… Is it worth the additional investment? Please let me know / advise
So I have the original and even though I'd love the new one, I'm not in a rush to spend the extra money just yet. If they come out with a white version of the M8X then I might lol
@ appreciate the comment sir! I agree… I’m on the lookout for a new board so do believe that a used OG montage 8 in good condition in worth it… I’m sure there will be a white board coming out… Do you know if the new patches like CFX2 are or will be available for the original montage?
Bro I went to guitar center and they had this board on display. I played on it and I did NOT like that key bed. Maybe it was worn but I prefer the montage 8
It's possibly worn because everybody plays it at GC, but the keybed is definitely different. It has the wooden feel of a grand piano but it's fairly light to play. It takes some getting used to, I put the velocity to "hard" when I played it in a service
I haven't been able to get my hands on the Montage M to hear it in person. My biggest fear is that it's going to sound too much like the original Montage. How much does of it is similar to the original sonically?
Yea that did throw me off but I think that might be how those particular sounds are or maybe the settings were wrong because the notes don't cut off on the other strings patches I've played
@@AndrewMcKain I noticed that the patches which had notes cutoff had a lot of parts/elements (im not sure what they are called). But they must be reducing the polyphony by a lot. I mean the factory preset AMW2 engine only has 128 note polyphony, so if you layer 4 of those sounds, ull be down to 16 notes.
The Yamaha Montage M8X is the best keyboard *for you* Plenty of Korg, Roland, Kurzweil, Kawai and Nord users would beg to differ with your assessment. There is no best keyboard. Just what works best for you. Yamaha boards are really nice but I don’t perform much. For composition, Yamaha does well with Cubase integration. Roland does it better for more DAWs though. Nice playing.
All of the pianos still sound thin to me, just like all other keyboard built-in piano sounds, probably due to reduced sample size compared to software VST pianos. No comparison.
You would love to have one, just like that from Yamaha? That's over five thousand dollar gift you're asking. Go buy one instead. The Japanese value money for their products.
I get that but like I was saying in the video, my last Montage video has over 100K views and I've done plenty of other reviews on Yamaha products with plenty of comments saying I convinced them to buy the keyboards. So essentially I'm making them money. They have musicians that they give keyboards to all the time so it's not too far fetched
Truly don’t understand the love this board gets…. Too expensive for what it is and the sounds never change… kurzweil k2700 are more bang for your buck sounds better, has more depth and hammers are adjustable and key bed has a bounce to that’s hard to explain but feels like your fingers are quicker and hands feels mobile.. For any that read this… go try one.. tell me I’m wrong… Yamaha been repackaging the same board for years… we need to make them earn our money. With a kurzweil and a laptop (we all play with one anyways) I promise you won’t need a thing My 2 cents..
Went to guitar center and tried 3 boards and the montage 8x was the one I was focusing in, it sounded very nice, the Nord board was also quite nice to play and one of the best piano sound in my opinion but I ended up buying the Fantom 8 instead....for what I need for my studio, Fantom fits in better, plus, I wanna experience with the physical Modeling sounds which Fantom has
The build quality of the K2700 is really very bad. I had 4!! of them and all had hardware issues. I switched back to Yamaha. Despite the issues, the K2700 sounds and feels fantastic!
@@Robin_S78 interesting, had this one for about a year now and it’s taken a beating with no issues at all.🤔 But overall The sounds and feel are only surpassed by Nord IMO I don’t even think of Yamaha, Roland or Korg unless I’m looking for a specific sound
@@NewJourney I was one of the first and lucky ones to receive the K2700 in Europe. Perhaps the first 2 batches had problems. 1st K2700: New out of the box: Half of the Ribbon Controller was not responding 2nd K2700: New out of the box: 2 Multi pads did not work 3rd K2700: New out of the box: Some keys made a clicking sound and the bottom resonated when pressing the keys 4rd K2700: After 4 months: Short circuit during live performance. Screw appeared to be loose on the inside. Sound quality of the voices is excellent.
@@Robin_S78 WOW! Never experienced any of those issues. 🤞🏾🤞🏾 That said, after having playing the k2700 I’m not sure I can go back to a Mo or a Roland as my main.. I’d think I’d close my eyes and buy a Nord.
I gotta say Yamaha Knocked it out the park with these New Piano Sounds Wow 😮 🔥🙌🏾
Yea they definitely did

I agree the key-feel is incredible -- such a perfect balance of lighter-weighted action, the right amount of spring, and the poly AT is sooooo cool.
I went Nord, but the Roland Fantom & Montage are INCREDIBLE! My dream board for aux is the Genos 2.
I almost went Nord and had montage in mind, but I ended up with the Fantom 8 for what I have use for....
@@Bruce.-Wayne And, you'll never regret your choice. There really aren't any band options today. Nord is just overpriced. I got an insane deal, though

Yea I love this keyboard!!

Thanks a lot and yes you’re right about that!
Rd 78 Smooth has that Mike Beral feel to it
Yea you’re right!
Might be getting ours maybe next year to update the Motif XF8 and use the XF8 as a synth (aux keys) setup.
Nice! That’s a good upgrade!
Nu cred.Privind in urma Yamaha nu are o astfel de politica.......
Great keyboard!! Thank you for this demonstration! Greatings from the South of Brazil!!
Thanks so much for watching!
One of the coolest things I like about the Montage M8X is that you can use the faders 🎚️ as drawbars for any b3 organ sound 😮!!
Yea that’s great!
So many great sounds right out of the box!
For sure!!
Your movements are crazy🙆🏽♂️🔥
Appreciate it!
Bro! Awesome Review!!! I LOVE the M8X and it’s a blessing to play it every week! 🙌🏾🔥🔥
I’m jealous bro lol but thanks a lot!!

I thought you was playing in the White House doc. That flag and suit threw me off 😂

Dope board ma bro!!
What do I have to do, to play like this???😎 I'm still learning in my beginner phase..
yal forgetting about the new Fantom.. ain't knocking that Montage, but that Roland kickin hard too.. and the Kronos too.. good video though doc
I love the Yamaha Montage M8X ❤🎉
I have moxf6 yamaha still works good is it time to upgrade question
It all depends on if you need more from the keyboard
Your playing is beautiful. Can you give a tutorial on what you are playing
Exactly this!!!

Thanks for the sound demo. But why is the sound on the right channel more than the left? I think there was some issue while mixing.
I think there was an issue with the inputs on my audio interface
@@AndrewMcKain ah no issues..👍🏼
You’re playing is so great do you give lessons ?
do you teach? any online masterclass you offer?
How can I learn to play like you ? Hannon ?
Good stuff bro!! Preciate it!! Love the vid, no need to use this board as midi!
You know you can change through the scenes using the 8 blue button bank below the super knob.
Great playing as usual ‼️👌🏾

It’s not a huge difference but the sound quality is better because of the improved sound engine
I'm here for the skillful sounds... The Montage M is nice, though! 😅
Haha thank you!
I love the board sounds but the key bed of it to me is not as nice as the original montage.
Yea the keybed seems to be really polarizing right now. They went more for the grand piano feel similar to the CP88 and YC88
Is it just me or there's lot of notes cutting off during the strings demo. Seems like a polyphony issue. 😮 didnt expect that from a 2024 flagship.
