      The power of representation. This film was such a great example that you can be feminine and powerful. So many times women feel like they have to act and dress more masculine in order to be respected and it sucks. It should be up to personal preference only, and as long the attire is appropriate and functional there should be no discrimination against one type of clothing.

      What year was this movie? When I took the LSATs, the scores did not go that high. You needed a 40 to get into a good law school and a 30 to get into most. I didn’t not have a perfect LSAT but I had a 3.7 GPA in a dual bachelor’s program (prelaw and premed). Also my letters of recommendation were from a top lawyer/alumnae and a professor from the University. Its not hard to get into Harvard unless they have a lot of alumni children, who don’t need to meet the same requirements. They get moved to the head of the admission list just for being a child of an alumnus. Of course, they are generally the ones who are not there 2nd year because they fail or quit because it’s too hard. In orientation, we were told to look to our left and our right and half of the people you saw would not make it to 2nd year.

      And there are tons of lawyers that specialize in business contracts, so the law school would assume she wanted to eventually go into that, combining her skills to start her own fashion business or work for one already established. Knowing the business from the fashion side, marketing & what people will like is 1 part but if she also has the skills to write & review contracts for that business then even better. She won't get tripped up by legal speak & she knows what's important to be included in the contracts that might affect the quality of production & therefore the image & funds of the company.

    As someone not from the US, I’m honestly scared by the college entry system there.
    Here in Australia, all you have to do is be smarter than like 50% of the population, and you can get into pretty much any undergraduate course at pretty much any university, except medicine, dentistry, and the like. There’s none of this “participated in extracurriculars for years” or “is literally a world class athlete” or “volunteered for a summer in Africa” or letters of recommendation or even meeting with or submitting anything like an essay to the university itself.
    Literally all we do is write down a list of universities and courses on a piece of paper, and based on our Year 12 ATAR results (standardised testing for each subject), each university will either offer us a place or not.

      @@morbidsearchwell it can be helpful to somebody. In Italy it's the same, your high school exams vote literally doesn't matter (it is useful to get university tax cuts though). You just have to do well in the entrance exams, which only exist for some faculties and/or some prestigious universities. And those entrance exams are much easier to prepare for than the final high school exams, since they're more specific and you don't have to study other subjects in the meantime. Except medicine of course.

    • @JeremyGabbard
      @JeremyGabbard ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@morbidsearch In the US system, law (and medicine, among others) are graduate degrees you wouldn't apply to until you're nearly complete with your 4-year bachelors degree. By that point, your high school tests are completely irrelevant.
      I understand in some countries you go directly into law/medicine programs after high school, that's probably where the confusion is.

    • @abryl2480
      @abryl2480 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Here in Mexico, you just have to pass a standard exam. It is literally the same for everybody regardless of their chosen program. That being said: I majored in French, and I did the same entry exam as my friends who are doctors. However, the only programs that require extra steps are the art programs: you have to go to different interviews, auditions, and extra tests, but other than that, admissions are pretty meh.
      Of course, they only accept a specific number of applicants per career, so it's not like everyone gets the chance to enter even if they get almost perfect scores. I've seen many get rejected with 99% scores out of med school because there are not many places available. I was lucky that in my program, they offered 75 places, but only 64 people did the exam that year (but I mean, it's French).

    While it might sound unusual at 1st, getting a law degree to go with her business degree in fashion merchandising really does make sense & shouldn't shock the advisor. If she was wanting to run her own fashion-based business in the future then being more familiar with the legal side of the business helps insure you don't get trapped into bad deals. Just like medicine, law school starts with basics in each category & then you can decide to specialize. So there are many lawyers out there who specialize in business contracts & make big money being kept on retainer by a handful or even just 1 company. She wouldn't even have to run her own business or be a designer but be involved in fashion by working with a fashion label on the business side.
