What I think a lot of carvers get wrong so badly, is having too distinctive a step in feather groups. The cape one this bird just stands way too high. It does not appear like that in nature. To me the bill is also off, too heavy and the wrong shape . I am a bander and handle lots ofd wild birds. An art teacher told me, do not try to represent every feather or every hair.. Give instead the right impression.

I am impressed with your carvimg and knowledge of how to woodcarving. I have done songbirds Robin's Bluejays and Cardinals. Am still learning.
