I can relate to a lot to this! Esp now with my new job, I get home at 6pm, shower, eat dinner, chill for a bit, then it's already like 9pm... And I have to get up again in the morning at 6am... Handheld gaming helps a lot with this since I get to play in short bursts, but the weekends and days off also feel so much more special. Also being busy helps pace out games and forces me to not rush them.
I concur 💯 The Switch has revitalized my gaming life immensely. ALSO, playing more indie games that are very good but don't require as much time commitment helps as well 🙌🏿
I totally feel you on being excited to retire for more gaming time! Gaming seems like a great hobby for that age because you can do it in the comfort of your couch, it's not physically demanding and it can keep your mind sharp.
It's tough finding the right balance between all the adult responsibilities and still enjoy video games as a fun hobby. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and perspectives on this!
Fantastic video! I’ve definitely struggled with this throughout the years but now, in my early 40’s, it’s smooth sailing (for the most part). I had my son when I was 20 and quickly realized that my time and money wasn’t mine anymore🤣. I was able to spend more time with gaming when he was young but as he got older and started playing sports it got harder to squeeze in gaming time. Just a few years ago I went back to school to get my degree and I struggled. Working full time and being a full time student is not for the weak but I managed to pull through and finished up. Now it’s easier for me to do what I want, when I want but to be honest with you majority of my gaming time happens on the weekends. During a regular work week I play my switch like an hour or two a day (breaks at work, before I go to bed). It works for me! Happy new year to you!
This is a good topic... and I may have my own take someday. As someone that is working full time and taking class part time (oh.... the house and kids), it can be really tough (also reasons why my video output is so low). Weekdays... I try to fit in time between 7pm and 8pm so I get some transition from adulting to bed brigade. I have more time during the winter months on weekends, but very little time when soccer season is in. But we all need to take care of things when time is not in surplus, so I am sure many can relate.
Loving JRPGs as an adult is painful, suddenly you go from binging them in 1-2 weeks to taking months. Not to mention it makes it so difficult to replay your beloved games, when you have a huge amount of backlog AND the games getting longer and longer these days. I am trying to convince myself to start playing easy/story modes on replays (or even first runs) if i dont fancy putting 100 hours into a game, gameplay is fun and all but sometimes i just want to re-experience my fave stories. This is also one of the reasons why i lean more towards reading these days. You can get incredible stories, with way less of a time and money investment (and lets be real, games are getting mighty expensive). I have splurged on a steamdeck the other day, i feel super guilty but its going to be my glorified emulation machine, where i can play all the old games that dont require 50-100 hours to beat, on my sofa 🫣

Yes! Handheld gaming is such a help. I notice I get through more games through handheld gaming

I’m looking forward to that day!😁

It definitely is a struggle to find that balance, but it's worth it to make time for what you love! 😊

I’m so glad you were able to find that balance! 😊
I understand that lately I've just been playing on my days off. I used to play more on weekdays.
Finding whenever I have time is what I’ve been doing 😆
go feji!

The struggle is real!
