    *Yo, what's up everyone?!* Leave a comment of your favourite photo and also let me know what you think of the vlogs lately - I've been changing things up a bit and really enjoying the results!
    P.S I know the opening vlog shots are over exposed. It wasn't intentional and was corrected as best I could, without damaging the footage more. The A7R has no flip out screen 😐
    P.P.S. Who else noticed that I completely forgot to turn the Super35 crop off after testing that lens in Yodabashi? It took me a while to realise it. I just thought I got tired and my arm was being lazy 😂

      Love the vlogs, great editing, and content. Think I like most of the photos, but my two favorites are the underground platform and the train with the blue lightings at the end of the vlog.

    Bro, what's up with the over exposure?!? How about using an ND? Other than that great content! 👍🏼 Really enjoying your vlogs!

    • @-grey
      @-grey 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      This. I thought maybe the LUT was making it worse too. Like a LUT that emulates a Polaroid w/ flash or something.
      NDs are pretty necessary.

    • @joeallam
      @joeallam  7 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      Classic case of not having a flip out screen unfortunately. I don't review back each of the vlog shots when filming and sadly this happens from time to time (out of focus often as well). I've tried to bring down the exposure as much as possible without truly distorting the footage or flattening the whites beyond repair, but it seems it's still pretty bad. I'd love for Sony to make a decent vlogging camera with a flip-out screen, or Canon to acknowledge 4K on their cameras with screens. Or jump ship again and find another system that might meet my needs. But y'know… budget 😔
      The shots at least still have informative content to them in my opinion, which is why I kept them in; sorry it's a bit distracting!

    • @yaminlahmeur8325
      @yaminlahmeur8325 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Joe Allam maybe try using a smaller aperture (or bigger f stop). the background blur looks rly nice but it's overexposing you. great content though. good job!

    I'm just getting back into my Photography after a serious hiatus, and am slowly working towards getting new gear, and after watching your videos involving the X100F, i'm 100% sold!! Amazing looking camera - you're still enjoying using it I take it?

    Hi Joe, do u think x100f is better than xt10 despite interchange lens camera?

    • @joeallam
      @joeallam  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They have different use cases, but as far as raw image quality, the X100F technically has the newer better sensor technology. If you compared it directly to the 23mmF2 on an X-T10, I'd go for the X100F.

    Really making me miss my x100s. I sold it as it kept failing and Fuji kept having to fix it but man, I miss a small street style camera. Especially now we're off into the hills/mountains, a lighter setup would be great. Great vlog Joe!

    I'm glad you did decide to edit this vlog, I think it's one of my favourites so far! I also think the shots turned out great, really nice atmosphere. And I don't know what it is, there's just something about the streets of Tokyo. It's like there's an interesting shot on every corner. I love to just walk around and take shots. More Japan videos please! :)

  • @NetvoTV

    Can you make a sample photos of this camera without those filter?
    Deciding between the next year Leica Q2 or this one, like Leica color better, don't see a lot of photos taken with X100F, most shoot with filter, but they just too film look and dreamy, I like the Leica real life with a bit characteristics more, can you make a video to show the photos without filter? I really want to see!
    Things I don't like about Fuji X100F color(I may wrong), too dark in shadow, looks not sharp more like a soft film look(maybe due to filter), too much characteristics(maybe due to filter again), looks not real life enough
    And how easy is it to shoot full manual with manual focus on it? Does it as satisfy as a Leica camera?

    When you were not sure to get good shots, have you ever tried bracketing?
    I know it exists on Fujifilm X-T2 (not sure for X100F). In your situation, I think I would use 2/3 stop correction and 5 shots or 1/3 with 9. But this requires more work: view 5 to 9 shots to select one or two, make space on your memory cards, select your best shots, maybe delete the ones you don't like. I will try that on my next trip. I have just acquired an X-T2 that I will use with a Fujifilm 16-55mm and some Nikkor manual lenses I purchased over three decades ago (with a Nikon F3) :-)
    The pictures you published in your Instagram account are great. The ones taken in Japan are marvelous.

    • @joeallam
      @joeallam  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have multiple issues with it. Essentially I find it too slow for my workflow and I simply can't "trust" it to perform, based on the usability of it. It is especially cumbersome when switching between photo and video modes, so I opted to just use it for video and have been happier with it ever since.

    I was actually looking forward to the nighttime photos, wasnt disappointed. Another favorite was one with by the river; shot where there were people waiting for their train ride.
    Also, this made me miss Tokyo. I went on exchange there which ended just this March. I along with friends I made during the trip would sneak out waaay past our curfew to explore Tokyo. We legit went to four different places in one night because of the rush we felt; Akihabara to Shihbuya to Ginza to Shinjuku (forgot the order HAHAHA but all of it in the same night).

    Great video man! By the way have you run into any issues with dust getting into the VF/lens? Also do you ever shoot even in thin rain with or without some cover? Im kinda thinking between this and XT1+23 or 35mm for the WR, cause I need to be able to shoot in rain as its more common than not in my country.

    • @joeallam
      @joeallam  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't had any dust issues as such, but I know it's not weather sealed. If it's a big concern of yours as a main camera, I would look towards the X-T1 or X-T2 for sure

      I always shoot raw, it gives me more control when editing afterwards.

    I was just in the area doing a bit of shooting there my self last week, you have inspired me to start shooting my own travel vlogs, so I started a youtube channel for this trip. Been following you for some time I would have loved to have met you two while I was in Japan. Keep shooting... keep inspiring...keep up the great work! Cheers!

    Are you using film simulations other than PROVIA (standard)? If so, which ones?

      I mostly edit with Classic Chrome as a base, but I often actually shoot and compose shots in Acros

    I really like your night photography more than what you shoot in broad daylight. I wish i could scout around Japan myself. Great shots and nice vlog!
