I imagine this video gave some tradesman a good laugh. Find a dodgy part rotten floor joist and just give it a quick brush and screw the floorboards back down. I also like the sanding paper you used to get the new board level classic.

HI 12:33 you replaced 1 board with 1 plyboard could you not replace 2 boards with 1 plyboard ?... this is what i am thinking of, what's you option ?

looks like it was probably a leaky radiator, i would have secured that moving joist to the wall but thats just me. Might try using the Ply, my old imperial floorboards are a nightmare to replace.

Hi there and thanks for watching. The only problem with securing to the wall is that it makes it easier for damp to penetrate. ATB, Des

Did the owner mention about the pressure of the boiler falling because of a leak?

I'm actually thinking of getting rid of the cellar underneath my suspended floor (150 year old Victorian house) by removing the joists below the floor and treating somehow the ground (soil + cement), probably by fixing some damp proofing membrane.. There's a few air bricks on each of the two walls exposed to the exterior..Unfortunately I haven't much space in my home and every inch matter so there's any recommendation you could give me to achieve this and trying to tackle any potential damp problems, do you think there's any structural issues I should be prepared to look into before removing any joists/sleepers..?
Many Thanks,
    Juan

Hello there and thanks for taking time to watch my vids. Whilst I am humbled that you feel confident enough to seek my opinion I would have to decline offering advice on this occasion. You need to seek advice from a reputable and suitably qualified builder and / or get a structural survey. Have a great weekend where you are. ATB, Des

which wood preservative do you use? Does it strengthen old wood, or just protect against termites/mold?

+kelly olsen-stanko Hi there and thanks for dropping by. I'm based in the UK. I normally use a generic interior wood preservative to protect against wet rot, dry rot and woodworm - normally get it from Wickes. It seems to do the trick. Please note, however, that it will not strengthen old wood just stop it from deteriorating further. Also, I don't think it will protect against termites which are not prevalent here in the UK. As far as I'm aware, termites are normally found in tropical regions or places like US, Canada, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, etc., where there is the right balance of temperature, rainfall and humidity. Hope this helps. ATB
