Pop charts are not a measure of a good song. Madonna had about 10 no.1 singles Dylan had none that tells you right there what chart songs usually are unless your The Beatles even Floyd and Zeppelin never had many singles on charts only albums like Dylan. Personally I can't stand most chart music.
A few examples of songs that do that would have been nice.
