There may be issues in the motor that you can not pick up that may cost you very expensive machine work down the road . I have been finding out flatheads cost a lot of money to build and performance is not good . Your trying to achieve the classic look and my opinion putting a sbc in a ford is not the way to go , its to easy and cheap .Even a SBF is not bad , depending on what you are doing .

Yea I learned the hard way after 3 motors lol. I did end up with a mercury crank machine shop wanted to buy it off me. Hopefully I'll have it done soon

If they wanted to buy it off you it was only so they wouldn't have to "build" the engine for you and lose their ass doing so at the "flat rate" prices they charge for standard services and processes on MODERN OHV ENGINES.

It is called supply and demand there is no line up of dudes or dudessseses selling flatties for 2-3 hundred$.

No, it is the illusion of supply and demand. Yes, there are people selling flatheads for next to nothing. You just need to know where to look. Which is the whole point of our Org. To stop people thinking this way and to realize that the Flathead is not as rare as Sellers make them out to be.

You have to stay away from the HAMB and the TROG crowds. $500 was the most I paid and I got 3 in parts with a Merc crank for $200. You have to be patient and not shop from hot rodders or those trying to market to them. Flatheads were(and are) everywhere.

Agreed. A rusty core alone for most builders is $500+. It all depends on location, supply and demand for sure.

So, what is an intact 60 horse flathead worth? I have one to sell.
