We rarely buy anything at Canadian Tire that's not on sale. If it's not on sale this week it will be next week. Lol. Or if we missed a sale they will honour the price after the sale has ended.
I've been gardening for most of my life and still feel like a newbie sometimes. There is always more to learn. Keep up the great content.

Thank you! Totally with you on CTC, doesn't seem to be more than a few weeks before it goes on sale.. and those sales are sometimes doozies! Last drill bit kit I purchased was 80% off!

We had a great view of the eclipse..we are a little east of you near Whiteface Mtn...anywho we paddled about two miles in a canoe to a small sandbar in Chateaugay Lake..no people around..awesome! For seeds we have one of those pot lights LOL. I start tomato’s, peppers and herbs first inside. Then will pot those up for a few weeks..move them to our small greenhouse in May and continue to start other seeds. We put a little milkhouse heater in there for cold night(believe it or not is still freezes at night here in May). We have garlic and shallots coming up outside...last year grew about 100 bulbs of garlic...need to freeze dry some of that for powder. Just planted onion starts outside. Yes maple season is definite done...but such a fun project. Sounds like we have very similar to-do list. Great video J.

Oh wow, a canoe trip for the eclipse sounds super special, that's amazing! Didn't capture it on film given the shutter speed, but we did manage to sneak a peek IRL at the eclipse and for the briefest of moments saw the sliver of the sun around the moon through all the cloud cover. The Dixie-doggo really didn't dig the whole darkness and weird vibe that came along with it, but Ms. Lady and I took a break from work and it was a hoot even with all the clouds. Agree our to-do lists are really similar! 100 bulbs makes wayyyy more sense, but first time on this end so I was cautious. Do you save any to replant next fall? Not even sure if that's a thing (haven't come to that part yet lol) Milkhouse heater is a great idea, likely going to use that! I'm so new to the gardening thing (third year now), but do enjoy the process so much! 🧄🍅🌽🥔🥒🌿

Woodpecker's have a very long tongue. It's so long that when they are not using it, it wraps around the woodpeckers brain and it uses it as padding for all the banging on trees.
    The more you know 😂🤣

I really hope this helps you're a good man Don't be afraid Remember there's always next year to start again I will even give you lessons on asparagus are the hardest vegetable plants to grow The greenhouse I worked on was only 1 from 60 miles that sold 3 year-old Asparagus seeds And I knew how to handle them Very difficult Plant

I think it's called sister plants It's native American way of planting plants to help each other Corn beans and a winter squash The corn gives beans something to grow up The beans put Nutrients back in the soil for the corn The winter squash Covers the ground Keeps the ground moist longer Do more research on this 1Really helps

Love it! I've been fascinated with the companion plants for insect control, especially around the herbs, tomatoes and squash, but definitely do need to take a deeper dive into which plants assist each other on a nutritional basis soil wise. Know of the three sisters from a harvest (having them in the house), but was today years old when I realized it's a growing method. Thank you! 🙌

I start stuff from seed inside mainly to give me something to do in March that's kind of spring like and I get to check on and watch until the weather gets better. I'm pretty lay about hardening the seedlings off though. All the instructions seem like if you give them a couple extra minutes they will burst into flames or something. I just put them out in an area that only gets morning sun for a while and eventually move them a few feet out every few days so they get more sun. seems to work ok..

I love how simple that sounds... you're right, most of what I read has me living in TOTAL FEAR for making a single mistake lol. I know any which way we go it's going to be trial and error, but am looking forward to seeding next year, fingers crossed.

A little secret Make a small greenhouse out of saran wrap Saplings make a TP greenhouse And when you're growing the seeds When you lay down the table Find a heated blanket Put under the seeds trays Then put plastic between the sea trays and the electric blanket Keep that Electric blanket going at night That's gonna keep the seedlings warm and generate growth When I turn 17I got a job at a traditional greenhouse 60 year-old German lady taught me Traditional greenhouse work with a twist That's so you don't have to harden The vegetable plants that are already used to water As the mornings and nights get warmer you don't Electric blanket is much I used to Plant 5,000 trays every year4 weeks of planting seeds Are those everbearing strawberries Are they June berry strawberries Big difference If you fertilize the strawberries you shouldn't do with chemicals and if you do do it once a year You need to find pine needles put Around the strawberry plants Makes them a lot sweeter Look up compost tea A water bucket With a air pump in it like from a fish tank In the bottom of it Then you take good compost from your compost Put it in a mesh bag Suspended in the bucket of water with aeration Which creates compost tea The The air bubbles Creates growth for the good bacteria And other good things in the compost which creates compost tea water your plants with that everyday Get away from all the chemicals You have a problem with slugs Some beer In a very shallow dish Slugs love beer They just drowned in it For Controlling bugs A little bit of dawn dish soap and some water with peppermint Oil To get rid of poison ivy the plant 1 part dawn dish soap1 part salt Spray on poison ivy or poison oak Wait a couple of days It will die it won't hurt any other planet The dawn dish soap and the salt dries out the oil on the poison ivy and kills it Dawn dish soap is actually a good thing to take care of poison ivy rash Everyday you wash poison ivy rash Put a little bit of dawn dish soap on it Let it dry It pulls out The oils of the poison ivy of your skin and dries it out which kills it 3 days before poison ivy will be gone I was raised by my great grandma And grandma they lived in the depression I've always found the oldest person in the group And learn from them I believe in Sharing traditions

It was certainly nice to see the butterflies back! Can't wait for my dragonflies to return... not that I'm one to pick favourites (but I secretly love them the most). Also butterflies. And fireflies. Damn, guess I love summer.

You wanna make your wife happy Find the perennial plant called Trumpet vine It's a big red flower That looks like a trumpet They will attract all the hummingbirds around for a good long distance Put it somewhere your wife can watch the hummingbirds Good sunny area In my suggestion Get a good area And plant sunflowers Plant the seeds right into the ground read the instructions really good What that's gonna do Keep all the squirrels and other animals away from your plants By them eating sunflowers squirrels chew off the head of the sunflower and try to take it But they will leave the other plants alone If you have birds bothering yours Strawberry plants when they 1st start popping Before they even start growing Find rock Kind of same size as strawberries Paint those rocks like strawberries Put them around your strawberry plan When the birds try to go eat the Fake strawberries They realize what's going on They will leave the strawberry plants along the rest of the year When you brush your dog Collect the dog hair Put it around The vegetable plants It might discourage some animals to smell the dog

Holy tip alert! These are awesome! We have so many hummingbirds in the summer, and every time I'm on the porch having a coffee and one comes around I feel like I'm being visited by a magical faerie. Love the trumpet vine idea, and Ms. Lady will love the sunflower idea... For some weird reason I find sunflowers to be creepy as all hell and do my best to avoid them and their judgy stance ha. Great idea on the strawberries too, that'll be a family weekend project easy!

You know whats weird, in the TH-cam studio I can see three of your comments, but out here on the video I only see this one. Not sure why that would glitch like that? Nevertheless that's strange. I'll reply to each of them on here and in there, and see if they don't surface. It even shows 12 comments in the video description up top, but I only seven on the video? Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned the pantry portal.... 🧙‍♂🪄

@@simplewoodslife yeah it's not just on your videos that it is happening. Something since the last update. The update was great for content creators since it split the 5 second skip ads so that if there was 2 ads you see them both (skip both) instead of skipping them both on the first ad, but gave us this small glitch.
