    These tips are SO helpful!! I'm starting college in the fall and I've been really worried about the dreaded freshman 15 because I tend to gain weight so easily. Recently I worked of 15 pounds and am at my goal weight and I've been dreading the possibility of gaining all that weight back!

    valid point! I wasn't taking being "drunk" into consideration- just drinking. But definitely if you are too intoxicated, eating will sober you up for sure!

    I graduated from college over 7 years ago but I still have some advice to add into the mix. Don't completely avoid what you are craving. If you crave chocolate, have some. By forcing yourself to completely omit something you really want, you might find yourself binge eating and in the end, taking in more calories than you would if you just had the thing you craved in the first place. Think of your diet as 80/20... 80% healthy, 20% cheat. You'll be happier and healthier.

    I used to keep sweet potatoes in my dorm room! It seems kind of weird, but they are so easy to cook just poke some holes in it and pop it in the microwave. They taste really good, they're really filling, and it's a superfood with tons of vitamins for about 100 calories!

    i think that a good advice would be to cut some carrots or some other vegetables into little pieces or slices and then eat them when you're hungry (for example relaxing on the sofa or studying)

    One more tip is to snack lightly through out the day. It has been proven that the best way to keep from gaining a lot of weight is eating meals that might be a little smaller than what you normally would, but then snack (on healthy choices) through out the day. It is better for you to eat 5-6 small meals through out the day than 3 larger meals.

    Ok I know that this sounds a little gross but I wanted to tell y'all a really good snack to eat when it is the middle of the night and you are intoxicated. What I do is eat frozen green beans! They are amazing! I do not eat them sober but when I eat them when I am drunk the water and nutrients in the green beans really help and prevent hangovers! I would try them when you are drunk.

    I gained about five pounds when I was a freshman. The first semester I gained because I ate only cookies... seriously, I never ate at the dining hall because the food was disgusting. My second semester I took an aerobic dance class (best decision EVER) and it toned me and I lost the 5 lbs. Sophomore year I gained more weight from eating fast food. I think it's more to do with what you are eating and your metabolism changes. Best of luck on sophomore year!

    If you have time to walk to class then do that over riding the bus, or the best transportation method for a college campus is a bicycle! You get an exercise in and for me it was faster than having to wait for the bus. Also not eating while drinking can lead to you getting even more drunk and a terrible hang over, but the biggest tip here is drink water!!! Lots of water while consuming alcohol that way you don't get as drunk as fast and your hangover shouldn't be as bad.

    Well yes, it is illegal to drink under age 21 in the US, but so many underage people have access to alcohol. I don't think she is encouraging underage drinking, but rather acknowledging that it is an issue and something that might happen during your freshman year of college.

  • @tewsimple
    @tewsimple 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    obviously when you eat and drink, you're going to intake more calories, but it's also really important to eat while you drink. otherwise the alcohol is going into an empty stomach and you have a better chance of getting drunk and your BAC becoming dangerously high.

    I had to take a online alcohol wise course about a few days ago this is what it was saying in the course it teaches you that if you do choose to drink that you should eat before so then it will absorb the alcohol. while eating at the same you are drinking is not as good as eating before hand just bc any liquid with food will expand the food in the stomach especially carbs like bread so it expends your stomach while absorbing

    Eat clean, guys! Like, if you don't know/understand what the ingredients are, don't put in your body. And liquid calories are the biggest killer, like Caitlin said..soda, alcohol..all that stuff, so watch those :)

  • @dixielullabyx3
    @dixielullabyx3 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Actually, the "freshman 15" is kind of misconstrued. Most students actually gain about 9 lbs not from unhealthy eating habits but from drinking. It happens at this time because its when most college students consume the most alcohol because they are new to the scene. So, the solution? Don't drink!

    Advising people not to eat while they drink is a bad idea. If you are going to drink its best to do it while eating because the food helps to absorb the effects of the alcohol and means you get drunk less fast and are less likely to be ill as a result of the alcohol. Apart from that I love the advice but I thought that just needed to be said

    i get where she's coming from with this video but i feel like just cutting food out of your diet doesn't work for everyone, when i starting gaining weight my freshman year i just ate smaller portions and had things in moderation, and paid attention to my calorie intake. yes, eating plenty of fruits & veggies is important but seriously if you want a few chips, have a few chips, and then plan accordingly with whatever else you eat that day (and stay active, of course!)
