Anne's smile has a semblance of Winona Ryder. I agree with her regarding weight comments, too. I am a slim person and has a hard time gaining weight. People will always tell me, "you still haven't gained weight." or "you are so thin". But I learned a way around it by responding, "that's an old news/may bago ba?". It can be uncomfortable, but you learn how not to take it seriously.
Same here...I have always been slim since my childhood days. It became more difficult to gain weight because of my hyperthyroidism. Some made jokes that I look like a matchstick. I am used to it and not offended. But, what is more intrusive is the repeating question of when do you plan to get married...which is becoming irritating to hear and answer
awww ! so lovely to hear Americans living here from their own different perspective. I love how they expressed the good and the bad sides of Filipino culture. It is so straightforward and can feel the sincerity based on their experiences.
You are correct about the staring. Actually, it is not only foreigners. If you look or dress different, even if you are Filipino. Example, a Filipino who grew up in the city and goes to the province, the person can get stares. We are actually taught that it is not polite to stare but Filipinos just generally stare. There was a time actually that i told a person outright, it is rude to stare. Then only the person realizes.
The staring is on another dimension in India especially for White women. I was in Goa recently, which has a lot of European and Russian tourists, I saw hoards of Indian men just sit on the sand on the beach so that they could just stare directly at a White woman tanning on a beach bed. They can look for hours. They don't even try to pretend that they are staring at something else. I imagine it must be very unnerving for women in a foreign land. And then they don't hesitate to ask for a selfie with a woman. Some have openly asked for a kiss. The men have an obsession for white skinned women. Indian men all get together with their friends and rent a bus or vehicle and go to Goa just so that they can see White women the beaches. They then sleep outside doing the business outside all over, they cook and eat also outside as a way not to spend any money. They leave a big mess everywhere. When you walk to the beautiful beaches you have to be careful not to step on human excrement on the path. It is very off putting. But India is a little cheaper than the beaches in Thailand or Philippines and I guess that is why the folks that can't afford to go there end up on the beaches of Goa.
@@Dan-xx5jq Wow, thank you for sharing that. I have never been to India (or Goa, specifically) though I have been around Asia. Something to think about. White people are fascinating to Asians. Now here in the US, I am noticing more mixed race couples compared to when I was visiting the US +/- 20 years ago. I guess, one is attracted to someone who is different from them.
@@arembotate4100 it is a little more sinister than that. They watch porn on their phones. Since India has a very strick ban on producing porn n India, all the porn in India comes from Western nations that have only White skinned women. They assume all white women are just like the ones they see in the porn they watch. The Indian government should address the staring and disturbing tourists for selfie.
Yeah unfortunately Filipinos have a staring problem, its not just only towards women either. I wonder if they would stop if most of them knew that Westerners find it rude and uncomfortable.
I really love their honest answers, hindi na kailangan ng sugar-coat kasi totoo naman ang mga sinasabi nila. the best po kayo, kay ate anna po ako natutuwa, ang sarap niyang kaibiganin huhu
Philippines cities, towns, and provinces have different personalities. So every experience dealing with locals varies. Some of the testimony feels like they have yet to.experience other parts of the Philippines and its solely base on the area they are in.
Advise you to view "Sussie in the Philippines." vlog. A Pinoy and Hungarian couple where you see a lot, if not mostly, view of provincial life and nature..
Today more than any time since the Philippines has been the subject of many vlogs from many parts of the globe, I do wish to acknowledge all the positive reactions and perceptions people do in favor of our country, as to our fathers may God be to [you].
@Triifate, you have to go to Visayas/Mindanao provinces to find cheaper commodities., and see beautiful beaches and mountains. Metro Manila is very expensive.
It's actually because of OFW remittances that prices are not cheap. It mainly benefits the malls, Jollibee, private schools, etc., aka the remittances pad up the oligarchy even more.
Ang cute ng tri-fate haha sayang diko kayo nakita sa Wyat Con. Anyways, I understand Anne because if Filipinas experience it how much more a westerner esp someone so pretty.
Moving to new different Countries there is always a culture shock. Most important be openminded and respect and learn about the Country, People, and Culture.
Agree 💯 You have to learn and accept the cultures. Different countries different people simple as that be open minded. I’m not changing my culture to please somebody. That’s why we are different people.
I moved to the Philippines about 7 months ago now. My American wife (32f) and I (37m) have been staying in Cebu city so far, but are looking to move a bit out of the city once our lease is up.

Lora is great! John and Lora is a testament of how faith can go a very long way... The Philippines are blessed to have John and Lora commit to living in the Philippines. I have not made that commitment, but beginning to have that conversation. The EXPAT formula for Americans is to have kids have their own lives and retire in a less costlier place like the Philippines. The Moreno (John and Lora) family has the faith, opportunity and ability to do what they did to take the leap to expose their family and live outside the norms. I always say people find things when they seem to be lost. The Moreno family has found something and its Wonderful!!!
11:25 The talk part. As a filipino, I do make friends easily in the philippines. But after moving here in california, not much. Its quite the opposite for me. Among us filipinos, we are curious, but put a foreigner among us, we do get shy about it because of language barrier or “accent barrier” if that even make sense.
Im so happy to hear Anne's view she seem so genuine i agree with Anne with the americans being friendly tho ive met some rude americans online but most of them are really nice people and friendly compared to other races i have met i think filipinos are really shy to ask and open up personal things but im sure when she stayed more here she will understand that regardless of their race we treated foreigners as friends and one of our family but it takes time to get our trust i guess Anne is having a hard to adopt i agree also with her that it's creepy and rude to stare to her and the having a baby white thing i hope filipinos should stop that mentality it's DISGUSTING!!

About the lack of deep conversations, this isn’t a common trait but it tends to run in families. My husband’s family is this way, talkative but shallow. My family has a different upbringing, we can have deep conversations with people we just met.
Nah it's okay Anna, I also get uncomfortable when people say those things especially when they know the traumatic event I went through, then they brush it off and say I'm sensitive and all, disregarding my feelings. Not all, but some. Personally, for me there's a lot of people, especially close ones which is sad :(
I feel more free ih the Philippines than in the US. I can vlog anywhere in the Philippines while in America, alot of karens will call the cops for filming or taking photos, talk about police brutality and mass shooting all the time.. America is great for jobs and money. But I am more comfortable and feel safe in the Philippines, all you need to have is a stable income to live in the Philippines.
For the "weight" topic, I think people tend to use "tumaba ka" or "pumayat ka" as a form of greeting. Like, because they can't greet you normally they will say you gained or lose weight even if you really don't just to greet you and start a conversation with you. It's really rude though, meron kaming kamaganak dto na twing nakikita nya ko either sasabihin ang taba ko o kaya ang payat ko kakabwiset e like, "wala ka na bang ibang masabi?" Emz hahhahahahahha
ang hilig talaga ng mga tao ng ganyan no? mga body-shamers pala. akala ko talaga noon its normal pero na-realize natin kung saan nanggaling yung insecure natin. myghad they should stop using it as greeting. mas okay na yung "uy! kumusta ka na?? anong ganap sa buhay mo??" ganern hahahahaha
@@linperlee5035 right?! I was like "bakit di mo piliin maging normal?!" Chariz hahaha di ko magawa lang kase matanda na yun kumbaga satin as younger gen need padin natin sila igalang kahit di nila alam na mali yun.

So many foreigners keep saying that Filipinos are friendly and they are, but you'll realize that the level of communication is superficial. Most are not capable of connecting at a deeper level, and most of your relationship with Filipinos will only go as far as a Hi, hello, and "you like the food?". Trust me I know.... I'm Filipino.
Live in the Philippines if you want to experience typhoon, volcanic eruption, earth quake and some flood if you are brave enough but if guys are cowed better don't live in the Philippines...coz more fun in the Philippines...that natural calamities Filipinos enjoyed it a lot coz Filipinos already understand lifes like that if we're still living on earth... okay, so no worries be happy enjoy everything even it's a problem Filipinos still can smile....😊😂
The Philippines is so much easier to live in as compared to like India. I have lived for a short time in the India because it is cheaper. But not as many people speak English in especially northern India. I find in India everything revols around the major religion...Hinduism. Sometimes it is a lot of culture shock for someone who has been Christian all my life. I found the Philippines are so friendly. In India most people never smile at all or greet you. They don't hate you, it is just not something they do. I am sure a lot other things are similar, lots of noise, traffic, lots of people, poor customer service, lots of dogs all over the place, lots of brown outs, lack of water to the house sometimes. I do think the lack of hygiene is a major issue in India.
I’ve been traveling 20 yrs …. Those who have been backpackers and actual travelers know abt the Philippines for a long time … it’s a tourist destination and it seems like you guys are younger and Americans and from the south (I’m a Filipino American in NYC) so I’m not surprised that you didn’t know abt the country as a destination. If you go to any Asian country, the cities are crowded.Go to Vietnam and Cambodia where you see 2 ppl with pigs on a motorcycle 😂
Most Filipinos living in the Philippines can do small talk in english most of the time but couldn't talk/converse that long. If it is Job related topic, Filipinos can talk all day... However, if it is a casual conversation, not work related then that is where we struggle. We will easily run out of english or have nosebleed as we joke about it.
I like my life in the Philippines, a maid is a godsend. I remember years ago arriving home I have to make breakfast while do laundry, watch TV and sort mail, always multitasking.
I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this guys from one of the videos my Filipino friend sent me, she mentioned the place, China Town. Anyway, seriously, a country or a state would always depend if your personality or soul RESONATES with it, with most of the locals, even the culture, sometimes we NATURALLY resonate with a foreign country more than our own. Every countries, each and every countries are going to have foreigners moving in it and feel more home in it. I’ve seen several beings who’ve went in the U.S, Norway, India, New Zealand, Germany, Greece, etc, etc, they’ve discussed why did they decide to stay, and the majority reasons are mixture of their souls RESONATING, giving off a HOME vibe on them, and how much they can earn. So for you guys, it’s the Philippines, I have a Filipino friend who’s temporarily visiting there, she’ll be back in the U.K this December she announced. She was treated like an outcast there, the only reason of her visit was for her other old important items she’s left in the house she once lived in. Her family are extremely toxic, if you know her well, her family as a lot more toxic than Britney Spears’ is. She went to China Town for the moon cakes she added. She doesn’t resonates with most people, for the reason she’s judged for her independent mentality and how she cuts off toxic people either they are people of her blood or not, she had told me how much toxic the culture is for her own being, which majority of the locals she’s encountered weren’t in favor of, not even to help her out of her toxic situation. Well, at least you guys are being honest to where you resonate with.
You should have also gotten in touch with Tim K and We Wander and Richard Armstong. They too are Americans who chose to live in the Philippines. They probably would have cooler stories to tell of their experiences.
You will find the real Filipino culture in the provinces. Close knit family, friendly and humble people. They managed to keep the traditions handed over by their elders.
I advised to all foreign who want to stay in Philippines if you live long here just learn our language because is right key to communicate more pilipino people specially if you want explore our country
I totally agree about the “weight” thing. I don’t think that foreigners have to adjust. I think Filipinos need to make some changes because I do believe some things come out rude. Filipinos need to dig deeper into the English language. It’s not just knowing how to speak it but how to use it. Some things aren’t just meant to be said. And in many cases I hate when our fellow Filipinos get so upset if you make constructive criticism and they take it as an offense.
No they don’t, Americans are not the rulers of the world. It doesn’t come from a bad place that women should be more secure in herself. Instead of listening to others!!
Yeah, a province lad invited his foreign friend to their town festa, saying " I invite you to eat my house. I killed five chickens, 3 boys and 2 girls."..very understandable...
True,if you have a good income,it is best to live here in our country esp, outside of the metropolis. No lifes pressure ,fun and peaceful. Thanks for appreciating and gave constructive comments abt the Phil's.😄
Oh wow i didn't know that, that count of americans really have chose to live in the Philippines too. I only thought they most likely just visiting. I am proud. 💖
It's actually a compliment in the Philippines if they say you gained weight of because it means you're eating well. If they said you lost weight, they'll show concern abt your health by saying eat more.
Pet treatments has improved a lot in the past 10-15 years. A lot of people now in my age group (30-40) are replacing the older generation and their ways and teaching kids about how to properly take care of pets.
that's true now compare that to the skid row of Seattle , oregon, Philadelphia, sf, new york subway underground and la , which one is worst or dangerous
its good to talk about weight talaga. asians are concern about their weights and can talk about, no need to get hurt, they are more concern about your well being, than insulting you
And for the girl who says that people are avoiding her, hope you'll be more considerate, people are not avoiding you just because they cant speak english, people avoiding you because of yar status, ya know, yar a foreigner and people think you are on different level, because you are rich,,
I plan on moving to the Philippines with my wife but I am having a hard time finding out a way to make sustainable income. If anyone who is currently living in the Philippines has any advice I’d love to hear it. Thank you!
She's right about the weight thing. I hate how people we haven't seen for a long time greet you by asking about your weight. That's none of your business. It's just so mean trying to point out something that one person might be insecure about.
I'm a Filipino, I would suggest for those who wants to live or visit our country, please know the currency rates, travel fare( taxi, jeep, tricycle, prices of the hotel, apartment, condominium, food, restaurant) because I hate to say this but few of our people are taking advantage of the foreigners, well I think most of the countries have that kind of people too, so All I want to say is be smart and aware so you will not be the victim of those people, don't get me wrong most of the Filipinos are very hospitable people I love my county, the more foreigners to come, more job for Filipinos
But does it come from a place of judgment or concern? People need to be more secure in themselves! Who gives a damn if you are skinny or fat if you are healthy good! Why does it matter? If they are concerned just say I’m good 🙂!!

Example, a Filipino who grew up in the city and goes to the province, the person can get stares. We are actually taught that it is not polite to stare but Filipinos just generally stare. There was a time actually that i told a person outright, it is rude to stare. Then only the person realizes.
You have too many Secret Admirers. x'D
Respect ay mahalaga di naman talaga perfect ang bawat lahi eh.
Salamat sa honest reaction. Very apreciated po☺️
Im happy that cousins are actually living joyfully in the PH, i just wish they could also do vlog in the provinces
Isaac and Tyler, I think you will enjoy your stay in the Philippines if you move to baguio city, which has the coldest weather of the country.
Maraming Salamat din s inyo s pagpapakilala n meron ang Pilipnas Mabuhay po Kayo Welco e po kayos aming Bansa
Trifate at first they don't know anything about the PH other than SB19 is from the Philippines and now they loved the country so much
I'm loving this channel now...as a Filipino no matter what the situation is I am proud of being one...mabuhay!!!
We Filipinos support bloggers most especially those who love Philippines and love our food
I moved to the Philippines about 7 months ago now. My American wife (32f) and I (37m) have been staying in Cebu city so far, but are looking to move a bit out of the city once our lease is up.
What areas would you recommend staying in?
@@everythingisfine9988 Depends on what you are wanting to to I guess. I am out in Mandaue City so rent is a bit cheaper but you still are in the city so you have access to everything. But if you are wanting an more upscale or party environment than its hard to beat IT park, but you play for it :D
@@Matthew-uv7bt American prices in IT Park or is it all relative in the Philippines. Like $500 get you an amazing apartment in IT Park?
@@everythingisfine9988 You will for sure see some skin tax in that area. If you look around you can find more reasonably prices spots but I would say $500 would likely be a low average for that area.
The Moreno family has found something and its Wonderful!!!
just by looking on how big the smile in their faces while doing the reaction video proves that they really enjoy staying in the Philippines
This is really a true and unfiltered reactions.
THANKYOU FOR CHOOSING PHILIPPINES🇵🇭 MABUHAY!!!
Anna is just a weirdo, she is afraid of guys in ph, lol, that crazy. if she is from Chicago from rich north side. the south side she gets raped is murder. manila way better than Chicago
@@hillbillyintheasia6122 Is there a lot of crimes in chicago? As a manileño grew up here it's not totallh safe at night watching local crime news makes me want to stay at home all day 🤣 I would love to know more about the US and each state it's one of my favorite country to visit 😊
It seems like you met people there who are shy to talk to you. At first i know it's hard to mingle with other nationalities because of the social differences but i wish the negativities about us Filipinos change in the long run. Please get to know us sincerely. We are so hospitable and friendly as far as i know.
True ,I don't talk to a stranger, even to a foreigner lol
@@alice_agogo not true.. If you're in a Province na puro turista. May it be white or black, lahat friendly. Here in Palawan u can go clubbing alone and you'll find friends mapa pinoy o foreigner. Hey, thanks for letting me be a part of the video :)
Isaac and Tyler, so happy that one of the very reasons why you decided to go in PH is started from being a reactor & supporter of SB19, Thank you boys, a lot of Filipinos are loving how 'Very Epic' you are!!😂
Super true kaps Energetic din kase sila and funny
Super true kaps Energetic din kase sila and funny
One of the most welcoming kind Asian culture which is why I defend them & their history so much as a 🇺🇸. Plus I stan all the girl groups 👏
We thankyou guys for stayin here in our beloved homeland...we really appreciate foreign guys embracing our land and in return being gratefull for it is our hospitaliy and generosity and last but not the least is the big smile sayin your welcome and we love you as our kabayan already...godbless
About the lack of deep conversations, this isn’t a common trait but it tends to run in families. My husband’s family is this way, talkative but shallow. My family has a different upbringing, we can have deep conversations with people we just met.
Watching from Canada. I really miss our beloved Country sooner my retirement home.Thank you
It's the people of the Philippines that makes it attractive to the world. Everyone is WELCOME. .
Thank you for loving Filipinos and our nation.our God always be our side.
Nah it's okay Anna, I also get uncomfortable when people say those things especially when they know the traumatic event I went through, then they brush it off and say I'm sensitive and all, disregarding my feelings. Not all, but some. Personally, for me there's a lot of people, especially close ones which is sad :(
I'm missing your Reaction Videos TRIFATE for our Mahalima #SB19
Oh I see. TriFate now lives here.
Nice to know their reasons.
I was like "bakit di mo piliin maging normal?!" Chariz hahaha di ko magawa lang kase matanda na yun kumbaga satin as younger gen need padin natin sila igalang kahit di nila alam na mali yun.
kahit nakakainis, expected na rin kase yan sa older gen huhu. but i do agree na sana iraise natin yung awareness na hindi dapat ito manormalize as a greeting. let’s teach future gen (and even older gen/people in general) that this form of greeting is not okay! aaaaaaaa
Finally, SB19's influence is getting wider 🥺 I'm very happy
So many foreigners keep saying that Filipinos are friendly and they are, but you'll realize that the level of communication is superficial. Most are not capable of connecting at a deeper level, and most of your relationship with Filipinos will only go as far as a Hi, hello, and "you like the food?". Trust me I know.... I'm Filipino.
Welcome guys! Enjoy everything we can offer!
Yes,,,i was smiling while im listening to this people whom you interviewd ,its true ,an also filipino are hospitable an friendly to foreigners.
Trifate did not move to the Philippines. They haven't made any announcement about having "moved" to the Philippines.
I really like their answer. It's really came from within.
Westernization was slow process in the early 70s but started to pick up faster in the late 80s.
Thank you for discovering my country PHILIPPINES.
Ano ka Ambassador?
@@alice_agogo proud ako na Pilipino eh ikaw?
You should have also gotten in touch with Tim K and We Wander and Richard Armstong. They too are Americans who chose to live in the Philippines. They probably would have cooler stories to tell of their experiences.
You will find the real Filipino culture in the provinces. Close knit family, friendly and humble people. They managed to keep the traditions handed over by their elders.
As a filipino, the staring (of middle aged men) is uncomfortable to us too 😢
I advised to all foreign who want to stay in Philippines if you live long here just learn our language because is right key to communicate more pilipino people specially if you want explore our country

@@journeytrials well I’m a speaking from the a point of view from both a Filipino and an American. And I think both sides has its flaws.
Yeah, a province lad invited his foreign friend to their town festa, saying " I invite you to eat my house. I killed five chickens, 3 boys and 2 girls."..very understandable...

Depending on the location
Trifate guys are sooo cute!!
that's true now compare that to the skid row of Seattle , oregon, Philadelphia, sf, new york subway underground and la , which one is worst or dangerous
its good to talk about weight talaga. asians are concern about their weights and can talk about, no need to get hurt, they are more concern about your well being, than insulting you
OMG! this was so so FUN to watch!!!!

She's right about the weight thing. I hate how people we haven't seen for a long time greet you by asking about your weight. That's none of your business. It's just so mean trying to point out something that one person might be insecure about.
Wow!! Okay guys let us all friends we are one.
im sad about anna experience i hope you can find good friends maybe its depend the place that you living
I'm a Filipino, I would suggest for those who wants to live or visit our country, please know the currency rates, travel fare( taxi, jeep, tricycle, prices of the hotel, apartment, condominium, food, restaurant) because I hate to say this but few of our people are taking advantage of the foreigners, well I think most of the countries have that kind of people too, so All I want to say is be smart and aware so you will not be the victim of those people, don't get me wrong most of the Filipinos are very hospitable people
I love my county, the more foreigners to come, more job for Filipinos
Philippines is beautiful beautiful people nice people cheap country affordable homes
Madam Anne telling about the weight is so accurate, even Im a filipino I hate they tell me about my weight, just because im skinny.
But does it come from a place of judgment or concern? People need to be more secure in themselves! Who gives a damn if you are skinny or fat if you are healthy good! Why does it matter? If they are concerned just say I’m good 🙂!!
