This is Terri, the co-founder of Luma Touch who makes LumaFusion. This tutorial is awesome! Your technique is mind blowing! Thank you for spending time making LumaFusion shine. I will share this with the team here.
Thank you Terri, and thanks to you, Chris and the team for creating such a wonderful app! I’ve been editing in LumaFusion for almost 4 years now and it revolutionized the way I plan and approach my work. I’m glad to help making LumaFusion shine! This tutorial came to be when someone asked me if displacement mapping is possible in LumaFusion. As Tammy said during Gail’s live stream, you can do incredible things in LumaFusion if you put your heart into to it.
Yeah. I believe so. Blend Modes have been added to LumaFusion a while ago, so the capabilities were there since then. It just didn’t occur to me to try.
Thank you for watching this video. If you enjoyed it, giving it a like and posting your comments would be awesome! Most importantly, please spread the word about this channel. Thank you!
@@ManantialVE My views are down too but I think it’s because I haven’t been uploading too much this year. I did better this last month but I think YT does punish you if you don’t upload at least once a week.
Thanks. The way I work, with a script and voiceover is time consuming and I’m not uploading as often as I would want. That’s probably it, but if so, it used to be more forgiving.
Thanks! It took 2 months to perfect and simplify this method so it could fit on a watchable tutorial. PS: I’m enjoying your tutorials. Keep them coming!
Thank you for watching! Here is another tutorial I made recently that expands on the method used for this tutorial, this time to create text in flames: th-cam.com/video/7oOYK4Yusy4/w-d-xo.html
That’s really cool. 😎 With my day job I’m away from home over 100 hours a week but these tips will come in handy some day when I have a bit more time. 👍👍
@@ManantialVE the nice part about you doing this it helps to know this type stuff is available. I know there’s a ton of stuff that can be done with the blend mode that I’ve never even looked into. My other channel is where I usually post most frequently (except now) and the type stuff I do there is pretty straight forward plain video. It will be fun to be more creative as time allows. Thanks again.
As I was watching, I was thinking of different ways I might use it, but it’s way beyond my skill level! It would me longer just to duplicate it! Really good.
At the beginning I used a method that isolated levels of brightness using Blend modes. It worked well but it was too complicated. Then I tried isolating edges, but the results were not as good as with the first method . Then I went back to a brightness blend mode, but with overlapping instead of isolation, and that’s what you see in the tutorial.
Mind blowing!! Would you consider making a tutorial explaining the concept of Blending and how blending works? Seeing this video I feel you can create anything you can imagine.
It’s already done😀! Each Blend Mode works differently. Over time I covered the most useful ones. I’d suggest you start from my first video on Blend Modes that covers the Screen Blend Mode and then start going through the ones you find interesting. Most of them have the words Blend Modes in the title or description of the video. Start here: th-cam.com/video/nkfMJnNk7dg/w-d-xo.html
For easier access, there is a playlist in my channel called LumaFusion Blend Modes containing tutorials, mine and from other creators I like, covering the topic.
@@ManantialVE Thanks a lot for such a prompt response, I will go through it. Your videos really inspire me to open Lumafusion and try different thing's.
Thank you for watching! Displacement mapping is a feature available in After Effects and Photoshop in the desktop and in Alight Motion in iOS. Someone asked me if it would be possible to mimic the effect in LumaFusion, where the text moves based on the video below it. This tutorial is my answer to that question.
Very nice video gratz. YT recommended your video for for for the first time, so still should work for you 😃 I watched few of Tammy’s before, YT recommended also. My question pls... how do you upload the video (which quality settings) to get very sharp picture (activity outdoor video). YT settings shows 1080/60 for others videos and theirs like 5k 😳 My video has the option 1080/60 too but still blurry?? My videos taken with gopro 9 and edited with Lumafusion. Thanks for your help and time
Thank you for your comment! Tammy’s work is awesome! As for the upload quality, it’s an uphill battle. I usually post my videos as private first, to ensure that YT will encode them at an acceptable quality, and sometimes it doesn’t. I’m currently uploading through the TH-cam app at 1080p with mostly acceptable quality. I started experimenting with uploading through LumaFusion at 4K, 30fps and I’m getting better results. I haven’t tried 60fps though. The third option which I don’t use because I find it inconvenient, is to upload through the browser.
@@ManantialVE thanks for your reply... I use the app too which is set to fhd quality. I have 1 video on YT which is very sharp and in 4k but don’t remember what I did different that time.. I know that once I used the browser to upload, so could be that.. all the best, thanks
If you use the TH-cam app you are limited to 1080p. Also, at least in my case, videos that are 1080p but over 20Mbps often get stuck during the upload.
I have a very simple question. The only editing software I use and know is LumaFusion on IPAD, I am not planning to change it. Just out of curiosity, are the other (more professional) software doing these kind of tricks in a more simple way or it is always such a (funny) hassle?
Some applications such as After Effects on the desktop or Alight Motion in iOS have this functionality out of the box. Notice though that those apps are for creating effects. LumaTouch keeps adding features to LumaFusion, but I don’t think Displacement maps are in the roadmap.
WandaVision was definitely my favourite show this year. The workflow for the glowing orb would be pretty much the same as the Lens Flare tutorial I published last year. With that said I can see the appeal. Not a hard promise but I’ll do my best. Thank you for coming back to watch my videos!
@@ManantialVE I've just watched your Lens Flare tut. But where can I download the glowing orb? Or better yet, how can I make one myself with an Ipad? This is why I'm asking for a tutorial.
The lens flare I used in my tutorial is from an app called AlienSky. If you have a membership to Storyblocks in LumaFusion you’ll find some there. You can also search TH-cam for “glowing orb free” and you’ll find plenty. Just make sure that the background is black so you can use the Screen Blend Mode as I showed in the tutorial.
I believe that I have found a faster way, and it only takes 3 layers of clips. 1. track, main source for displacement set to gamma 1 and lightning level after taste, 2. A Text with boarder with darken blending mode. Same text without border. Render all 3 tracks together. Remove the two text layers. Remove all effects from original video source. Add the new track add the effect blur then add levels adjustment gamma to 1 adjust light level after taste. Use lighten blend mode. Done.
I agree this may not be practical . This is actually the most complex tutorial I’ve ever made. The idea behind it is to show that it can be done but most importantly to give you an understanding of how the method works. This way, you can use just a small part of the method for any other purpose that you may come up with. Think about it as a new tool in your toolkit. For example, a couple of months ago I needed an effect where text appears engulfed in flames, and I ended up using a similar method (see this tutorial: th-cam.com/video/7oOYK4Yusy4/w-d-xo.html). I know that some of this effects can be done in a simpler manner, for example, in After Effects, but the purpose of this channel is to do the whole process on mobile devices. By the way, this includes, scripting, voiceovers and the editing of my tutorials. Thank you for watching and I appreciate your comment!Wishing you Happy New Year!
