  • In the video I compare the 2022 Harley Davidson Fat Bob to the Street Bob. These bikes are both a personal favorite of mine based on both the styling and performance. But at almost a $4,000 price difference, lets see which on makes the most sense for you!
If you're interested in these bikes, they are available at the time of this video going up.

Personally I'd have the spokes on the street bob, it just makes sense and I think it's a more sexier look. And I'd also chose the street bob mainly due to the fact I'm 5'6 and for 4 grand cheaper it to me is a no brainer to go street bob, plus I think the looks and color options are just better all around for the street bob

I bought the FAT BOB! It's worth your while to see any bike you like in the flesh to really understand its quality/feel and looks. People don't realize that the forward controls on the fat bob are actually more like relaxed mids, and when you sit on the bike it feels extremely comfortable and I am 5.7 feet (176cm) tall. Mid controls tend to really tire out the hips and pelvis areas and can cause a lot of discomfort in my honest opinion and experience. Also the rear suspension has much more travel (like the soft tail heritage) and hence provided a much more comfortable ride. The handling and the drag-bar set up on the fat bob is also second to none and will cruise both straight lines and bendy roads with ease. The headlight whether you like it or not provides superior lighting due to its shape and LED setup both in the day and night. It really needs to be ridden to understand its qualities and abilities and I am sure it would shock most people in the best way.
that's my 2 cents on the matter! But really I love all Harleys, Ride safe and good luck which ever bike you choose! PEACE!

I like both bikes, but for me the Street Bob is what I would choose. I do think the spokes look better, but I prefer a cast wheel for the tubeless tires. I also prefer the mid controls and the mini apes. I wish it came in the white, but would choose this gray out of the available colors. I saw one in the blue and while I like the color I don't feel like it fits this bike.

I've been just in the situation to decide for one of the two. Street Bob was/is my favorite in looks, the mini ape style is great and the Fat Bob wasn't even on the list to consider first.
Then I test drove both. The Street Bob handles well, but hell the Fat Bob is a different level! I felt much more confident on the Fat Bob around the Swiss country side with tight corners. It's far more stable and has better lean angles. Really like the seat as well and despite coming from a sport bike, the forward controls were very good. As I felt they are not that much forward anyway - I'm only 5'8. Also the engine feels and sounds more aggressive on the Fat Bob, despite being the same thing. Needless to say, I got the Fat Bob in the end.

Nice job on video Blair. Your content is solid for a fairly new H-D rider. I have a 2020 Iron 883(first bike ever). I loved the 2021 Street Bob for many reasons(the M8 114; mid controls which I have on Iron and the new passenger pillion). I think the new wheels on Street Bob make it look similar to my bike and a tad more sporty. I am stuck between the Street Bob and new Low Rider S for next bike. This review was helpful. Thanks dude and ride safely.

Street Bob for me. I don’t hate the Fat Bob but I’m not the biggest fan either. The Street Bob just looks like a Harley suppose to look. It’s a one man, ride with one hand, no luggage, just you’re wallet and a place to go kind of bike. It’s simply a Harley. Love it, and I love the spokes on it as well. Again…. It goes back to the way I envision a Harley.

I’d choose the Fat Bob, it’s surely a head turner, mostly because of its fat tyres and exhaust. It’s exhaust sound has more bass than other Harleys. It has awesome handling and excellent braking. Not that the Street Bob isn’t good, but in my opinion the Fat Bob is a superior bike and looks more spacious.

Thanks for the video. I owned an 2018 fat Bob. The speedo terrible had it replaced the times due to water leaking in it. I’m 76kg and that suspension adjustment was useless for me. I had it on zero and still bounced me across the road on corners very dangerous. Thanks for the video.

I just picked up the 2022 street bob the feel and style of it personally fit me better and considering the other 114 options are so much more expensive for the same motor it made more sense to save that money to do a 131 build rather then spend more money to spend even more money to customize it

That was the factor. Building the street bob to a unique and personal look with the difference in cost and no too much more. However I have been watching and dreaming about both models since their release in 2018. And in the fullness of time the perfect ride for these aging joints which have been well earned. Awesome video. Here in New Zealand we are waiting for the boat to arrive. Deposits in advance or miss out. Oh covid. JAHLOVE. HARLEY DAVIDSON

Just bought a '21 Street Bob in vivid black. Has the spoke wheels, which does add to the look. Although I would prefer mags simply for having tubeless tires. I threw on a Saddlemen seat and Vance & Hines pipes and LED turn signals and brake lights. Loving this bike. Coming off a Kawasaki sport bike, it did take some adjustment on my part as the Kawasaki would redline at 12,000 and the Harley at 5500. 😂

  • @Chase_N

The only thing I hated about my Fat Bob was checking tire pressure. The rotors are in the way & HD won't use 90 degree valve stems. If I hadn't upgraded to a Road King & was looking at a Softy, I'd pick the Street Bob. Same 114, but the Fat Bob's tire selection is more limited & both bikes have the same aftermarket support.

Forward controls on a bike are so much more comfortable for a daily rider especially if your riding any distance. I took a class on a mid controls bike and I was sore as hell after two days on and off that bike.

Hit the nail on the head with every point made! I think I mentioned it on one of your previous street bob videos, but I’m definitely biased towards the street bob. That bike sparked my love for Harley 🤷🏼‍♂️ I definitely think the spokes fit the “bob” look a little better but I dig the mag wheels as well. The seat hight and bars are what drives me to say street bob over fat bob. But I do love that seat they put on the fat bob; super comfy! Both great bikes, and yet another great video! Keep up the good stuff man!🤙

Would love a fat bob, but it's hard to go with either of these this year when the new Indian Chief Darkhorse has the 116, better tech, a bigger gas tank and costs less than the fat bob. I just cant see the value in the Fat Bob at almost 20k. 17-18k maybe, but it just feels overpriced.

Dude this ones hard! I LOVE both these! Personally Im more an apes guy (especially since my last bike had Drag bars) I love everything about Street Bobs EXCEPT… the tank badging is juvenile. It looks dorky and it takes the Balls away from the bike. Its such a gorgeous color but the badging is dorky AND im surprised Harley re-used that Badging a 2nd year? Old Street Bobs just had one color. That Fat Bob wouldnt need anything changed out. Thx for the vid.

    Great Review Man…
I ended up going with the Street Bob. Love this F**kin thing 🤘🏻🤘🏻❗️❗️
I did NOT want the rims, so I scoured the earth and found a dealer with a
brand new 2021 with spokes 👌. I completely Blacked-Out the front end ( Headlight, Forks ),
changed the seat, exhaust , etc.,…. $3,700. Dollars 💵 later, I’ve got the bike EXACTLY how I want it.
You were right about the $4,000. Going a Looong way with this bike ✅
Real Happy with the Street Bob - I don’t think the Fat Bob would have cut it for me at the end of the day 🤷🏻‍♂️

I bought the Street Bob in ‘21. Put a couple thousand into Fox suspension, Kraus tbars, led lights, and some covers. Saved on labor by doing it myself. Engine and exhaust are stock. Personally I don’t think the bike needs engine mods. I also own a 2019 RGS that I bought new. If I had to do that over again, I would buy the standard Road Glide and put the extra money into upgrades.

I've never talked with anyone that likes the side license plate deal. I really like the new tan color. I'm still in the Slim and Heritage camp. My next bike will probably be a Heritage. I'd want mag wheels on anything that isn't going off-road. Spokes are just too hard to clean and need to be maintained. If money was no object on either of these bikes I'd go Fatbob. Better brakes, lean angle, and it's different.

The first thing I'd replace on a Fat Bob would be those drag bars. I can't abide them. Mid controls and shoulder higher risers. I'm 5'8. Would fitting a Borsani 2 into 1 make fitting mids easier. I daily drive a 2020 street bob... wouldn't change my spoke wheel for mags on this particular bike. The spoke wheel just makes sense on this ol girl! Mags would be better on a sport bike or on a touring model but the street bob just SCREAMS spoke wheels

Both bikes are beautiful. I prefer the Fat Bob, but the color of the Street Bob is awesome. I wish that the Fat Bob had the gama of colours of the Street.

I think looks wise the Street Bob looks much better. And like you said for 4k you can do a lot of cool things to this bike.

I bought the Street Bob in Vivid Black and getting a stage 2 as I type. The Fat bob is cool, but I don't like the pill shaped head light and the rear fender seems awkward to me. I'm not a fan of the dust protectors on the forks for the Street Bob either, but that's the only thing I don't like about the street Bob. I may change to forward controls, maybe. Not really a big deal to me...yet. The Street Bob wheels are less maintenance than spokes. Can't go wrong with either. I love the new M8's.

Surprised you haven't done a Sportster S vs Fat Bob video yet. Those bikes seem kind of similar.

When the dealership had a Sportster S they didn't have a Fat Bob and vice versa lol. That happened a lot trying to do these videos.

Im almost 6'3 so I would have to pick the fat bob but just came from a dealer yesterday, I was only comfortable on on the low rider and the road glider. Or else its daddy long leg seats.

I did have the 2020 Fat Bob until this year and sold it. At first I liked the look of the head light very much and liked the wider wheels.
Eventually I started to dislike it pretty much. The style of the Fat Bob is overall not my thing anymore. The wheels, the big fork and the head light make a good combo for anyone who likes the look. BUT Harley keeps putting the 3.5 gallon tank on it, which just doesn‘t fit the „Fat“ in Fat Bob. That is huge turn down for me because it just looks and feels wrong. Older Fat Bobs have the 5 gallon tank, why not stick with that?!
The seating and the handle bar are ok on the Fat Bob in feeling but ugly in optics to me.
I did like the twin brakes, though.
After I sold my Fat Bob I did order a 2022 Street Bob. I just love the style. It‘s bobber, it‘s slim, it‘s sporty and it looks a lot more chopper-like.
Also I do love the slim wheels as they make the bike much more agile and way more comfortable in terms of handling.

Agree with everything you just said. I’ve seen some cool Fat Bob builds but they are changing a LOT of stuff to get it to look that clean.

Can you do a video comparing the fat bob and fat boy?

    • @throttleblip9854
      @throttleblip9854  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Possibly. Really quick I'd say this. Depending on color you're around 1,300 difference on price. To me.. the Fat Bob is a much more sporty type of ride. Suspension and lean angle account for a lot of that. The Fatboy is the definition of a cruiser for me. If I can get through the bikes already on the list and we have both bikes at the same time I'll do a video.
