The other sad part was it was kind of working coping with his loss, I mean he was still grieving of course but you could already see the threads that this was going to work and was going to grieve properly, like John said he wouldn’t have to grieve alone. I always thought that with someone like Wick, Viggo seriously should've sent a professional negotiator because his empathetic communication skills are trash; and that was sorely necessary. He's dealing with the most dangerous man in his world, who just lost his wife to brain cancer, and his potato son antagonized him, broke into his house, beat him, killed the dog his wife left him, and stole his prized car. I'm sorry, but the phone call telling John Wick not to be emotional about everything was ridiculously insane. But, if he did the smart thing, we wouldn't have a great movie/series
Are you guys honestly believing they never saw this movie that came out in 2014 and is a classical action movie that average men like to watch ??? Do you honestly believe they see this the first time??? How gullible are you all here ?
The Bad Guy killing a dog is a recurring theme in movies. It's usually the final act of villainy that sets the hero off on a path of revenge and justice. It pops up in the movie Shooter, as well as Open Range. In the later, Robert Duvall's character is a hardened old cowboy who has seen and experienced everything, yet he chokes up emotionally when he talks about how the bad guys "killed our dog". Americans love our dogs; and showing someone threatening or harming one is a sure way to get an audience to really despise a villain and hope they get what's coming to them. Even in The Wizard of Oz, the Wicked Witch threatens Dorothy's little dog Toto. There's an early World War 2 movie, I think titled Wake Island. At this point, the purpose of movies was to get people engaged to fully support the war effort and hate the enemies. In the movie, the tough Marines defending the island have a small, cute dog as a mascot. Then it has puppies, and the Marines are acting like a bunch of proud fathers. Then the Japanese bomb the island, killing the dogs. If audience members didn't already hate the Japanese after Pearl Harbor, this movie was designed to stoke the fire even more.
Keanu Reeves is also a black belt in Jiu Jitsu . For the second amd third movies he hired the 2 biggest legend instructors of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu flying them to LA to train him to an even more amazing levels. He also helped develope the art of. “gun-Fo” a combination of Kung Fu, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and fire arms. There’s a TH-cam video about his training and the 2 world legend instructures say he is one of the most dedicated students they’ve ever had, he’s a perfectionist , shows up every morning early and won’t stop training until he has domrthing down completely! It’s wild he’s 60 years old. You can watch the videos of him training in completion 3 Gun times shooting instructed by the world 3 gun 8 time champion. The instructor said he’s good enough he could compete professionally. He’s legendary with pistol, rifle and shot gun, perfectly accurate. What I love is he legitimately is not someone you’d ever want to mess with, he’s not like every other actor that just play tough guys, and advanced black belt in Brazilian JIu Jitsu trained by the worlds best , a competition shooter and proficient in Gun-Fu!??? His regular Jiu Jitsu instructor says he’s is unbelievable shape and movie of not he works out every single morning, he trains in martial arts every single morning , he runs daily . It’s all something he started after losing his wife. He was asked a few years after she passed if he considered marrying again and he like the legend he is said “my wife passed away.” Simply implying, nope, I won’t remarry. So he focuses his free time on all that stuff. He’s my damn hero man.
A detail I didn't catch the first time was the trail of blood leading to the dog's body in front of John, Daisy crawled her way to him in her last moments to die by her owner's side 😭
I think they dragged her then placed her there so that would b what he wakes up to just be of the way she was placed but I thought the same thing the first few times I saw it.

I ended up watching this movie with my dog too. I was holding him, crying and wishing vengeance on everyone! Lol i told my dog this is EXACTLY what would happen if someone hurt him.
I love the club scene. The guard just had a look of understanding of the danger when he realized who it was that just got the drop on him. Also the fact that he thanks him and leaves his post is the best. He's a paid guard for a crime family and he leaves them hanging which would be something that would get you killed but that's less of a threat than John Wick. Also the fact that John likes him so he intentionally got the drop on him just to give him the chance to save his own life shows he's a good dude on certain levels.
It was also something as he knew Francis, and knew that he might be able to help, which he did. When John asked if he had lost weight, it was a code for how many guards are in there. The answer was the actual number of guards in the club, which is why he let Francis go.

As a guy who's lost both my younger bros to cancer, watching you knuckleheads I get to relive little snits of that bro-bond I now miss everyday. I'm so sorry for your loss, I genuinely can't imagine life without my brother and can understand how it feel like a piece of my would be gone; I wish you nothing but the best dude. Thanks for watching our videos and I'm glad we can help you relive those good memories.
Yeah you hear that the dog dies, but how the writing and acting made it so clear how the dog was essentially synonymous with his wife, her heart, her love for him, and his grief at her loss, made it SO easy for you to be like, YAS, John, KILL THEM ALL!!!
Before the John Wicks and the Matrixes there was a movie called 'Equilibrium' that you guys would probably like. Also if you like Willem DeFoe, check out 'The Boondock Saints'. I didn't know who he was at the time, but upon a more recent viewing I realized one of the main characters is Norman Reedus(Daryl on The Walking Dead).
Yes. Plus, there's something odd I noticed in the hotel scene when Marcus fires the warning shot through the window... So, Marcus shoots the pillow on Wick's left (looking at Wick). It seemed to me that Wick would've automatically rolled Away from the shot, to the Right, so he could roll off the nearest edge of the bed and get to the floor quickly. But, Wick Doesn't do that. He actually Rolls Left, Towards the damaged pillow. Weird, yeah? But, then I realized something. Wick isn't a John Q. Public. He's John Wick, a high level assassin, the best in this world. So, why roll left? Then, it hit me -- because it would be unexpected. Someone trying to kill him would figure he'd roll Right to get to the floor via the shortest, fastest route. Wick knows this and rolls Left to fool the attacker, who would have to realign his view to get Wick. But, by then, Wick would already be on the left side floor. It's a great psych out. I dunno. Maybe I'm reading too much into it. haha
@@LA_HA Nope, you have it absolutely right. And Marcus knows this, which is why he fires on that side, as it is the side that Perkins is coming in from, so it is the side that John needed to see in order to avoid being caught by surprise.
In the first "Club Kill Run" - did you notice what they did with the color of the lights? When things are in John's favor - or "On Wick's Ground" let us say - the lighting is a cool blue. When things are a legit threat to him, or when he's taking hits or about to - the lighting is red. Particularly near the end when he takes the fall to the dance floor.
I love the whole world that they made for this movie. The whole underground world that has rules, a kind of code, but they don't come out and just explain it to you. You just get immersed in the world and you learn about it bit by bit, and each movie shows you more and more of how the underground world works. Its fucking fantastic.
There's another movie that uses gun-fu. I can't recall the name and I'm too lazy to look it up. It's a fun martial art. This movie does it so well because it's a natural thing many of the assassins know in this world

One of the BEST things about this movie is that it's ALL KEANU. He went through a TON of training for these scenes to be as real as possible, doing live fire training. THAT'S why it looks so real.
My dog loved cheerios. I would have to shovel down the bowl whilst being stared at. I would give him a few of the soggy ones and about a tablespoon of the sweet milk. Nearly licked through the bowl. Lol. That and canatalope. He went insane for. I miss him everyday. Still haven’t bought cheerios since.
I've heard they have, at least, three movies in the pipeline. Only hiccup is that the pandemic has caused some delay with the filming of the fourth. You're in for a real treat with the next two. :)
I don't know what's more fucked up, the idea that the dog crawled to him before it died or that they deliberately put the dead dog next to him so that it'll be the first thing he sees when he wakes up
I just friggin love you guys! You have the biggest, sweetest hearts & I just love your channel. Not to mention you're both Fine as hell. Lol! I have watched every Keaneu Reeves movie ever made & he never makes a bad one. Add Speed, The Gift, The Watcher, and Street Kings to your list. All Top freaking A+ acting! 👏🏽💯
The action in this is so cool because they don't have the rapid-fire jump cuts that most action movies have these days, so you can actually see the action and you can see it's Keanu doing the action.
Can't believe you guys haven't watched this to date, I'm glad yall are starting this franchise. One of the best recent action films with real choreography done by Keanu himself. KEANU PRACTICES 3 GUN COMPETITION WHICH IS WHAT IS SCHOWCASED IN THIS MOVIE. GREAT REACTION
Also, the dog dying thing was impossible to avoid. If I remember correctly, one of the tv ads for the movie mentioned - or, at least - heavily implied the dog being killed started the whole thing, though, I was still surprised by it due to the significance of the dog (beyond the obvious).
That is very bizarre because that's one of the most shocking things to happen in the movie; so strange that the marketing would ruin that. What a shame
My favorite part was when the father heard his song stole John Wickes car and killed his dog,and the response was oh,the father knew his son was dead already and there was nothing he could do to protect him."Jason Bourne trilogy next please great action movies.
Yes please do the other john wicks! They are all amazing! And give props to keanu for doing the gin training and work.. he is actually that fast!!! Yes hes amazing at the shooting range .. wow! And I got to see all of then at the theater and every time people were cheering and freaking and yelling ooooooo!
Dude who got his neck snapped when John was tied up was the same dude who threw him off the balcony leading to his capture. He won the first battle but John won the second decisively with his hands tied behind his back.

He looks the guy in the eyes so he can tell when he dies. He is being stealthy, being careless and looking away might let the guy other guy alarm the others. He even had his hands over his mouth, it’s realistic to not leave him HOPING he would be dead. People always seem to go to “see the soul leave the body” route. No clue why. He clearly doesn’t do this for fun and is extremely tactical and experienced. So why would he do that? He’s not portrayed as a psychopath so why are people assuming it?
Yeah. Keanu Reeves actually knows how to handle a gun on like elite military level. the amount of training and dedication he had for these movies is crazy!!
Fun fact: the security guard that stabbed John and threw him over the balcony was also the lead agent in the second matrix movie that Keanu fought as neo. In that movie, the agent says neo is "only human" which I find ironic here as the same actor shows that John is not invincible.
The only words I can saw about this film is that it is art. Everything about it is art. The music, casting, scenes, cinematography, choreography,... just art.
@Lee Brown Opinions are subjective, taste is not. If you think Matrix 3 is good, you have no taste, but hey, McDonalds still sells tons of burgers. There's no accounting for people's taste, lol.
@Lee Brown you sound like someone who would argue McDonalds food is high end gourmet and Justin Bieber is on par with Mozart because muh fweelings say they are, lol. Matrix 3 is a jumbled nonsensical mess, live with it.
I truly cannot imagine how painful it was for Keanu to film the scene where he gets the dog and why he gets it considering the life and pain he has suffered in his life.
Quick note(s): I saw on another reaction to this that when the bouncer states how much he lost, he's actually telling John how many men are inside. Professional code courtesy. Also, I hear they are doing 4&5 at the same time, released apart, of course, but filming both.
The John Wick house is out here on Long Island in a very exclusive town called Mill Neck. (At the end of Horseshoe road right by the water.) -- The runway is at Republic Airport in Farmingdale NY. -- Ms. Perkins gets hers at the Bethesda Fountain in Central Park.. The hotel is 1 Wall Street Court in NYC.. In real life, it's an apartment building with currently ONE apartment available.
Welcome to the 'scary protagonist' trope. I love the simplicity in explaining characters in this movie. Every big mobster knows John Wick. The fact that: "Oh..." - is enough to tell you that getting on the bad side of John is a mistake is pure genius. It explains more than a 30 minute character introduction. Also Willem Dafoe, for once, is a homeboy. They usually typecast him as a villain. But you can tell he has genuine concern for John in this movie. He's an assassin but also he is human. And that's just it. The John Wick movies don't complicate things. It is just what it is and they show that. In black and white. Also the violence is oddly satisfying and hilarious sometimes (even though that's a dangerous thing to say)
There was an earlier movie that featured "Gun-fu" called Equilibrium. It's no John Wick, but it's pretty rad, and Stats Christian Bale. If you like Willem Dafoe and action movies, you gotta see Boondock Saints.
@@Sir_Lauchboy You are right of course, but Equilibrium lingo might be a little obscure since the movie isn't real well followed these days, and Keanu Reaves called the John Wick style "Gun Fu" in an interview once, I was trying to be cleverly relateable.

Kris the way you looked when Josef touched John's car was EPIC. You literally morphed from sweet reactor to John Wick Jr. lol
Most realistic franchise so far. His gun holds 15 shots he reloads every 15th shot. You guys must watch him train with Taran Tactical
He also trained BJJ with the Machado brothers. High level BJJ.

@@dongilleo9743 Wow. I didn't know any of that. Thanks, man=)
Keanu Reeves is also a black belt in Jiu Jitsu .
This movie is SO good!. Keanu is SO good!. He does all of his stunts. He's such a badass
John Wick is one of those rare action movies that keeps getting better and better with each sequel! Can't wait for you to react to John Wick 2 and 3!
A detail I didn't catch the first time was the trail of blood leading to the dog's body in front of John, Daisy crawled her way to him in her last moments to die by her owner's side 😭

Lucky to have a cool grandma!
Your gran is one cool chick.
Super shredder aka big daddy cool aka Kevin Nash.
Another great reaction, guys. I enjoy you guys' reactions. Always clear to see the bond you two have.
The singular connection that every reactor channel has had with this movie: grief, and then unrepentant rage at that scene.
This is what you get when your director is a former stunt man! Some of the coolest action sequences ever!
Perfect timing. Neo is in a John Wick simulation.
The most realistic fighting scenes and the overall a bad ass trilogy.

The combination of world building and the style dubbed as 'gun fu' ... just epic!
There's another movie that uses gun-fu. I can't recall the name and I'm too lazy to look it up. It's a fun martial art. This movie does it so well because it's a natural thing many of the assassins know in this world

When the doorman tells him he's lost sixty kg is him telling him there's 60 body guards to deal with
He looks the guy in the eyes so he can tell when he dies.
The music, casting, scenes, cinematography, choreography,... just art.
Most badass last words, “Let’s get on w/ this..... whatever the f*ck THIS is.” 💯🔥🤙🏽😎
All the way up to 3, no decrease in quality at all! Keanu found his calling!
There is certainly a clear drop in quality.
The third one has some nonsensical side plot that means nothing. Still decent, but clearly a decrease in quality.
The gun reloads? chef kiss
Seeing a movie actually show the reload instead of an infinite spray is truly beautiful.
