      Harden is a genius. He can change his game and find other ways. Do you really think he hasn't faced that approach in all those years and Pip was the sole genius to think that?
      As T-Mac said and Pip agreed, the truth is when a scorer gets it going we know he's unstoppable.
      Look at Lebron, Durant and Harden.
      The thing of his team in playoff is that his roster lacks the gas to keep it going against tough opposition. Harden won't give you 70 and steal every game. The guy is already overloaded. Give him a break.

      I agree with you that this is a GREAT segment, but it's because they are sharing the intricacies of ACTUAL basketball approaches. Not analyzing and compare player values. Players are actually very poor evaluators of talent and team management Hence, almost every player Lebron has publicly endorsed has been overrated with huge team-destroying contracts. Analysts do NOT need to play in order to analyze. Some of the brightest minds in basketball today are people that have never played in the NBA. Players may not be good coaches (Isiah Thomas, Bill Russell), coaches may not be good GM/Presidents (Phil Jackson, Stan Van Gundy, Doc Rivers, Tom Thibidou)... bottom line... being a legendary player does NOT mean you are good at evaluating talent (Michael Jordan).

      Yep, in the modern NBA many teams don't have a go-to center and that is one of the reasons. If your star player is a center, he can often go into foul trouble and your backup probably isn't that good because you are spending your cap money on your star. But if your star players are guards and forwards you can just have 2-3 centers who aren't that aren't star players or even full-time starters, but can just be in there to protect the rim and foul when needed.

    Scottie Pippen is arguably the best one on one defender in nba history. Some might say Dr J. I’m not gonna argue that. Defensive numbers are right up there with MJ. Could defend quick guards, Power Forwards and on occasion Centers. I think a guy averaging 2.0 steals for his career and 0.8 blocks at 6’7 knows what he talking about when it comes to Defense. NBA Players are too smart, its all about adjustments. This would make for a tough game for Harden for awhile but when he realizes what is being done, he adjusts and will shred the defense in other ways. Harden has mastered the floater now, along with the lob, the center rotates to defend Harden, he lobs to Capela or kicks to an open 3 point shooter. So slowing him down is just that, "how much of a slow down?" Asissted 3 pointer is just as much as a 3 pointer from him.

    • @davidwilson4896
      @davidwilson4896 5 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      Shit if those 3 were on the court playing the Rockets Harden would be faking injury to get out the game he would want no part of that. Like Scotty said I let him beat me to my right he gets around Pippin and sees Rodman that's it Dennis ain't playing he's a bad boy he'll give him some of that old fashioned piston love Detroit sends their regards he might get a flagrant 2 on that play but because of concussion protocol James Harden would be done for the game simple as that Rodman wouldn't be playing let him go around doing all that fancy dribbling hard and go up for a 3 Rodman put his elbow in that dude's throat and then complain to the refs that James Harden's the one that initiated contact trying to injure him trying to break his elbow with his throat if anything it should be a jump ball then he take his jersey off and throw it at Houston's coach next thing you know Jordan wakes up game over

      Cero - FGO it took this video for you to give Pip his respect? You must have not been old enough to watch his career or must have bought into the Michael Jordan doing it all by himself rhetoric. Pip may be the best on ball defender of all time. His length, athleticism, and instincts made him a nightmare defender.

    People don't realize Pippen had a 7ft wingspan. He, like Jordan could block shots from the side and the back without fouling. Their defense was relentless. Plus Harden or whoever, had to defend them on the other end. They put pressure on people the full court. If Harden got focused on Pippen, Jordan would get him from the back. Then you had guys like Rodman and the rest of them going all in. It takes a lot of energy to keep up relentless pressure a whole game. Jordan, Pippen, and Rodman did that. Ask the other players on the dream team about that. They said Jordan was like the energizer bunny

    • @Darieennn
      @Darieennn 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I fw this reply but imma add on to that , the reason people don’t do that now is because you have so many focusing all their energy to the offensive side of the ball. The defensive side isn’t “cool”. But what these guys don’t understand is that if you put your best defender on harden and y’all guard him 94 feet like the lakers did in 2020 you can stop him and them . Y’all have to commit and play together as a team which is why harden hasn’t had much success in the playoffs and especially deeper in the playoffs .
