- Kia showcased three new models - the EV5 crossover, Concept EV3 and Concept EV4 - at its first EV Day in Seoul, South Korea. While the EV3 and EV4 are considered concept cars, we have every indication they are extremely close to final products and will come to the U.S. And in pretty exciting news, we expect these small-to-medium-sized electric cars will bring down the cost of entry for Kia’s electric lineup. In this first look video, Edmunds’ Clint Simone gets up close with the automaker's upcoming EVs to give you all the details.

Do you think Kia is making a mistake not bringing the EV5 to the U.S.? Let us know in the comments!
Definitely. We need a SUV in the Seltos / Sportage Size starting under 40k. ... The market demands practical compact and midsize SUVs specially in the USA.
Bring it to the USA.
Big mistake not bringing ev5, but might be because they can't compete price wise with Tesla Y due to lack of fed rebate.
YES! It is a BIG L for Kia! The one SUV that Americans would like and they decide to skip the US. Is Tesla really scaring off the "competition"?
Yes! But it is not surprising that they skip the US market because Tesla is getting harder to compete with due to their pricing power.
EV4 looks cool as hell!
EV4 looks better than all the other ones. Please don't diss a sedan, we have enough of huge, lumbering SUVs. Enough!
I agree.
No for real
I totally agree! I would like even more a hot hatch version of EV4.
If this was still under wraps I would have bought an EV6 GT, now I want an EV4 GT instead.
Well said
I'm from the USA, and I wish the EV5 would be available here!
Pity the EV5 is not slated for the U.S. It seems to be the perfect size for my needs. Love the styling.
I can’t say I’m fully in love with the design language for all of these vehicles and recognize that some are only prototypes, but I applaud Kia for having such a wide EV product range.
Same! I look at the design language as a base to, hopefully, evolve away from lol. They’re doing a great job of working towards a robust EV lineup.
The ev3 is pretty simple and decent. The ev4 is futuristic which can be more of a niche type of car.
I agree. Not a Kia fan, but these stand out as perhaps the most futuristic cars on their way to production.
That's a shame EV5 won't be available for US market. EV9 is too large for my needs, so this one would have been perfect.
I hope ev4 wont be above 50k cause it looks so insane, im in love
At that price it won’t sell. Does look very nice.
@@Harudes it looks nice, but i bet it wont feel quality though
The EV5 is exactly what I am looking for. Too bad no US sales.
EV5 was top of my list when I first heard about it. Perfect size and I like the more practical squared off cargo space. Not coming to the US? Crazy.
us market doesnt get lot of ev's. We don't get the BYD or Nio vehicles, not even the mercedes eqc electric vehicle. I dont get why
What a foolish decision to not bring the EV 5 to the states.
Damn just give us an electric Stinger.
EV7 or EV8 if i had to guess
EV6 Is considered a sedan, EV4 is the futuristic K5, therefore the EV8 will be " The electric stinger " ( Even numbers for sedans)
I would buy the 4 on the spot if it has enough power. Think it looks great and is the only one that looks like a car. The other ones are like most ev:s boxy crossover/suv:s - not cars in my opinion. More like apartments on wheels. The closer to the ground I sit in a car, the happier I get. So now u know who would buy the 4…
I'm getting Saab yet Del Sol vibes from that EV4, I love it!
Saab is exactly right! I was wondering what it was reminding me of, thank you so much for that!
I like the EV4; I'm prefer saloons (sedans) to SUV's. If it comes to the UK, there will be a market, but it will be smaller than that of the EV3 and EV5. I hope it's more affordable than the Hyundai Ioniq6.
I like the EV4 most! Would like it even more if thet did a hot hatch version of it for Europe (including Sweden of course).
Love the EV4
That EV4 is by far the most appealing design of the bunch to me. Awesome!
I too love the EV4! Kia is very good at offering different designs for the different needs (and wallets) of customers.
I currently drive a 2021 e-Niro, and although it's not perfect (too many sounds you can't turn off, large turning circle), it is the car that best gives me what I want at the price I can afford. But I can see the EV4 as its successor if the EV4 a 5-door car, i.e., if the trunk opens completely.
The EV4 is attractive 👍
EV5 checks all the boxes. Insane that it's not coming to the US. EV4 looks like a refreshed EV6, maybe a bit smaller.
So the ev3 is volvos ex30 competition and has some very similar stuff. So likely priced similarly sadly at 35-45k+
And the ev4 is obviously aimed at the polestar 2&4 style segment which starts around 50-60k.
And the ev9 top trim costs more than a lr dual motor model x currently does after the tax credit.
The ev5 is kinda reasonably priced for China but Chinese evs exported ad 25-60% to the price. So it would be 45-55k here, as they would only offer the top spec model's. And no tax credit except for leases.
EV5 with 800V would've been awesome here in the USA. Bizarre move Kia
Greetings from southern Ontario Canada I really enjoyed the video looking forward to seeing these ev vehicles here, EV5 for us Canadians hahaha
so envious of our friends up north rn
I love how EV4 concept looks like. Very futuristic and definitely eye catching.
Weird the EV3 has 4 spoke wheels, the EV4 has 3 spoke wheels and the EV5 returns to 4 spoke. Would have thought, at least for concepts, they would have done a 3/4/5 spoke wheel design.
Any idea when we will se the actuall product cars on the road?
i am saving up for a EV6 but now i am curious abt the EV4 ...
Thank you for explaining kia car so well. I would appreciate it if you continue to do so.
As someone who prefers EV6 to Ioniq, I love Kia's line-up (though of course their line-up takes years to fill up)
Wow... since I saw the EV5 video a month ago I've been WAITING for this. I don't want the EV9 because I don't want a 3rd row SUV. I'm so upset Kia
EV4 looks like something from cyberpunk i like it
That EV5 color would go nice with my Pixel 8 Pro Bay blue color. 😊 I'm sold on that EV4 concept though.
They all look great!!!
It is said to be released within 6 months.
The EV3, 5 and 9 feel like « same sausage, different length » whereas the EV4 is really trying something different and taking cues from the stunning EV6. I like that.
that EV4 is awesome.....I'm a GTI/hatchback guy though.....if i had to go EV, and went Kia....it would be the only one I even looked at.
A hot hatch version of EV4 would be super awesome!
this EV3 looks a lot like the GAC Aion Y, which was debuted in Nov 2020.
The taillight on the EV4 reminds me of a CT4/5 Cadillac tail light
EV5 looks good for Europe
Isn't the EV3 the exchange for e-soul?
Edgy, different, niche. Price, range, battery management/charging infrastructure. No issues with 3 or 5. Need some more details on the EV 4. Size, range, cost, rear visibility, dual capabilities for a Canadian environment of heat, snow, traffic, distance to attractions 2-4 hr drive on a single charge. EV 4 size to park in garage, laneway, street, front yard.
None of these (3, 4 5) are coming to the US as of now.
Bring the bed room to America I would buy it! Just need it to be cool in the heat 100 degree weathers…
Is it just me or does the EV4 looks like Iron Man helmet?
EV4 looks just like the EV6 without the cool tail light.
I love that the designers are actually working. They are actually designing something fresh and new. And they are winning. Unlike the designers at Toyota, Honda, and Nissan, who seem to go on vacation half of the year. They call back to HQ and say, "We're on vacation. Our new design? Ehhhhh....let's just go with last years's model and call it good OK?". Just plain lazy. Their 23 design looks like their 19 design. Look at the new Honda Prolong? The infotainment center looks dated already. No thank you. I'll take any of these in my driveway. Already have the 22 Kia Carnival, which is the best looking minivan on the market.
So I read your comment and decided to Google some of the models you mentioned like the Honda Prolong... Wow does it look like a very standard vehicle and very standard interior. I like your taste, the Kia Carnival is one gorgeous minivan and the interior is awesome.
Ev4 is beautiful
Lets be honest, even st 400kw fast charging its still faster than the majority of EVs already available. Only Kia/Hyundai and Rivian *$$$* i believe beat it.
Personally i think the EV5 makes more sense in NA than the EV9 does. How many actually buy 3 row SUVs compared to standard sized 2 row? Yeah, that's 🤯😵🙄
That's what I thought also especially when data shows more young people are not having as many kids as prior generations! I have yet to meet a family that can fill a seven seat SUV with all their kids where I live.
So…the KИ EV3 is projected to cost more than the Chevy Bolt? That may not be wise…
That CANT be the stinger replacement 😭
Who would buy an ev4? Seriously? Does it not resemble a model 3 ‘sedan’ style vehicle? Last time I checked, those were selling just fine.
I think the triangular wheels are a bit odd, but the rest of the ev4 looks amazing!
The future is all SUVs and SUVs that are pretending to be sedans. Sad😢
Cost, infrastructure and size. The 3 and 4 don't offer more than the EV6. The Ev9 is nice but very big and expensive.
Apparently everyone is convinced that American want huge SUVs. I like the sedan IF it has room for a couple of adults to sit in the back. I've been waiting for a two-row from KIA as I don't need a beast the size of the EV9. Big miss that they decided to cheap out on the charging speed. I would want a two-row SUV that I could road trip in . . . this, apparently, won't be it.
The EV4 Concept is probably the weakest design of the bunch and looks every bit like a concept. Keep in mind, the EV4 is a Forte sized sedan, which is growing itself with the next generation and will be called K4. A lot of reports are claiming the EV4 is a Stinger replacement and it’s not. Internally, the “Stinger replacement” is GT1 and will allegedly be named EV8 (TBD).
I’m torn regarding the stacked headlights. It’s fine on the EV9 and Telluride but seems to be the design direction going forward and just looks odd on smaller vehicles.
Probably coming to Canada because our rebates are just designed to be insentives to biy EVs and not protectionist garbage for rich people through tax credits. We get upwards of 10k off any EV as long as they aren't over a specific price. It doesn't matter where it is made. That means they might axtually sell here where it just wouldn't if people pay full price. Blame your government for terrible policy, not Kia.
I was a little disappointed, all of them have basically the same look to them. I wouldn't say I like their new look for a sedan.
Cool. Three new EV's that aren't being sold where I live. I'm thrilled. 🙄
FWIW, the EV3 looks enough like a Niro that I don't care, the EV5 is just another box, and though the EV4 is at least different, it looks like a stretched out EV6, in a bad way. 😕
That's a truly excellent break down. I wondered the same thing, they just updated the e niro and this will be priced on top of it smh.
The ev4 looks like a poor man's polestar 2 or 4 type thing.
The ev5 looks like s shrunken less useful ev9 but is gonna be priced like an ev6 which it also competes against. 😂
i'm not feeling the design. I don't think it will age well.
Ev 3 is still too expensive at 35k. The ev4 is nice
Thanks for the Kia EV update. Good presenter. However, the video needs a wardrobe manager (think professional and stylish vs. wrinkled 00's college undergrad laundry day). Also, the sound editing/mixing in this format is a blaring, distracted mess that already feels dated. Edmunds is too high profile for this low level of video in an already extra crowded car reviewer market.
EV3/EV4: The design is a matter of taste, but I like Volvo and Zeekr much better and they are (in Europe) partly already available.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Infrastructure needs MAJOR help. Too many EVs and nowhere near enough chargers. Ask any current EV driver. Long lines to wait in, broken chargers. Not worth it right now. Save yourself the headache. Go hybrid for now until there's a more substantial charging network in place.
Adoption of NACS may help considerably. Knowing it's around the corner would make me hesitate to purchase a current offering, but while there are definite teething issues I think I could still make an EV work in it's current form and for my current use.
@@ALMX5DP I'd probably wait until solid state batteries are available.
@@samusaran7317 that could be quite a long time. Estimates put those at 5+ years out, and initial rollout will be likely reserved for high end cars so unless you're flush with cash it wouldnt necessarily make sense if you need a new vehicle and can make an EV work (plus if you have tons of cash, wouldnt make sense to wait anyways)
@@ALMX5DP True. Luckily my current ev in theory will hold out longer than that.
I have hundreds of chargers near me and all along the east coast. It is down to how receptive your state governments are to permitting and other things so...yeah if your state government is hostile to ev's...maybe change that first?
1st ous ous muthacluckas
🍪?
I'm not a Tesla fanboy but I have to say that almost every efficient infrastructure in the world someone didn't say would make and made it was Tesla indeed with the superchargers! All car manufacturers except Tesla say the same thing but they are all waiting for consumers money or consumers tax payed to governments to push those infrastructures! So funny, there pockets are always full!
It's a shame that the EV5 will not be available as a classic hybrid. Nice car, but I don't want an electric car.
They look worse than Homer Simpsons car design
I nope the new owners have full insurance coverage.
looks ridiculous, you can't pay me to be in one of those
That's funny, first thing I noticed on the EV3 is those wheel arches and how FUGLY they are. You mention the "double bubble" spoiler and then don't show it, or at least don't show what humans think of as a spoiler. Yanks are too fat to fit in the EV5, Kia's just to polite to say it.
that ev4 just looks like a smaller ev6... both ugly, the other two though 🔥🔥🔥
Giant, expensive Crossovers.
And everyone is surprised that EVs are only built for the wealthy BMW/Audi/Tesla buyer?
Everyone's supposed to be surprised that more competitive Chinese EVs are ready to flood the vacuum that is the entry level market that Kia - Hyundai and others had abandoned?
The brick wall is hurtling near
????????
they are 35k what are you talking about
@@realme4107 Before market adjustment 🤣
@@samusaran7317 i live in the us
Ev5 is the perfect size for the U.S. market EV4 will flop and only take sales from EV6
The phrase “a lot to unpack” is so over used… please stop.
No range numbers mean they are trash. As long as the infrastructure stays what it is today range will continue to be the first and last question
Infrastructure is improving though.
@@ALMX5DP Yep. Charging speed and efficiency is more important overall in my opinion.
The ev9 range test published today here in the us shows it did 240 real world miles at 75mph for the top gt line loaded trim.
That's 3.5hrs at speed before you need to stop. Everyone who road trips with family's or others is gonna stop at 2-3hr intervals anyway.
Also evs have more charging point's per car otr than their is gas pumps per ice vehicle in the US.
@@4literv6 Awfully poor considering it's battery size.
What are these? Watch out, some EV,s are known to erupt in flames.
Gas cars are more likely to catch fire than any ev. Hyrbids being more dangerous of the three... Keep peddling unwarranted fear though...
EV? Not interested.
Are they came form 2033!!
