  • This trip report looks at my flight from Auckland to Melbourne aboard a Qantas (Jetconnect) Boeing 737-800. We start off checking in at Auckland International Airport then proceeding to the Qantas Business Lounge. On board flight QF 681, we have a look at the Business Class cabin, seat, IFE, food/drinks and the crew service.

    4:52 I've flown on both of those airlines to Auckland. China Southern and Air New Zealand. One was on a budget lol, it helps to be a plane enthusiast - you can enjoy any flight.

    • @eddiekhoo2046
      @eddiekhoo2046  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well spoken Dan The Man. How did the other airlines do compared to Qantas?

    • @ARCANEmateCLAN
      @ARCANEmateCLAN 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eddie Khoo Well I haven't flown Qantas since I was a 6 year old boy.
      Though the China Southern flight was pretty poor in that 99% of on board entertainment was Chinese, noodles for breakfast, lunch and dinner and gave me a throat infection, it was also my first time ever in China and my first time on an A330. That felt pretty awesome.
      Air New Zealand is standard whenever flying with my Kiwi father who used to work for them.
      Tempted to try out as many different airlines possible when visiting family in NZ, any suggestions?

      I'd like to try out Emirates, LAN and China Airlines when doing the trans-tasman journey; but the connections in Sydney/Melbourne don't suit me well unlike QF/VA/NZ...

    Nice report Eddie! I'm doing Emirates MEL-AKL on the 25/7. Looking forward to it. Then do onward to SCL on LAN 787-9. About time I did a report of my own. :) Subscribed!

      That's awesome mate. Qantas will soon be using the A330s for that route. I'd pick that if it's available! ;)

    Very nice video.That FA looked to be very hospitable. Did all business class seats have the IFE stowed away somewhere in the armrest or is it just your bulkhead seats?

    • @eddiekhoo2046
      @eddiekhoo2046  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching. Most FAs serving business class are top notch with QF. To answer your question, only the bulkhead seats have it stowed in the armrest. Rows 2 and 3 have screens on the seatbacks

    Is Jetconnect the flagship name of Qantas which is operated in Australia-NZ routes?

    • @eddiekhoo2046
      @eddiekhoo2046  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it's a subsidiary that Qantas uses. The running costs are cheaper than using the Australian crew as wages are cheaper in NZ

      Lol. You must think I only fly short route 737s! Well, SPOILER alert I will be doing 4 trip reports on the Etihad A380 First apartments (SYD-LHR) in the next 2 months, 1 Eurowings A320 Economy class report, 2 reports on Singapore Airlines A380 Suites (SIN-NRT), 2 reports on Singapore Airlines B777 First class (SIN-MEL), and 2 reports on Qantas B747 Business class (BNE-HKG). Stay tuned! :)

      nice. are you doing a european holiday with your partner? Its frustrating that there are barely any flight reports of Etihad's first class residence

      @teamawesome2457 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Eddie Khoo How do you go from a suite back down to an economy seat? I could never do it.

    • @eddiekhoo2046
      @eddiekhoo2046  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Perhaps people who can blow that amount of money on the Residence are the types of people who don't preoccupy themselves with making TH-cam videos of planes? Probably too busy raking in the cash ;) Haha.
      And no, I'm going alone for a conference-holiday.

    • @eddiekhoo2046
      @eddiekhoo2046  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +LordHello, I would struggle going from suite/apartment to an economy seat for medium-long haul; but not for something short-haul, like Sydney-Melbourne. The Australia domestic carriers still have decent full-serviced economy class with OK legroom/seat width that make a 1-2 hour flight still bearable.

    Can you please tell me how you get the technical take off & landing information you show on your videos. I find it intriguing as I am a commercial plane fanatic & have flown hundreds of times myself. Do you get the information from the cockpit, or are you a pilot yourself? Can you please tell me how to access this information. I do have a couple of upcoming plane journeys booked for the near future. Can you teach me your knowledge. Some years ago I spent five years as Manager of Special Groups & Conventions with Air New Zealand. Many thanks. Your fan. Kent Bloxham

    • @eddiekhoo2046
      @eddiekhoo2046  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for being a fan of my videos! No, I am not a pilot myself but from the other videos I've put on my channel, you can see I am a flying enthusiast. Honestly, the information displayed are rough estimates derived from my flying experience in a 737 cockpit simulator. I like to display them to add to the flying experience even though they aren't accurate. There is no way to get the information other than being in the cockpit itself. Happy to explain some of the technical terms if you want. Cheers

    Surprised to see the cabin crew was wearing her serving jacket. Do they usually wear them on these routes, Eddie? I assume that they're International crew based in AKL and she just had it in her bag?

    • @eddiekhoo2046
      @eddiekhoo2046  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      They're JetConnect which is NZ based but operate under QF. I notice that their service delivery feels different to domestic and non-NZ int'l QF!

    What time did you takeoff

  • @isaacfung622
    @isaacfung622 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't prefer seats in row 1 coz u have to stow away the IFE screen during takeoff and landing, which limits my maximum entertainment time

    • @eddiekhoo2046

      I don't have high expectations for airline breakfasts, even in business/first class. There's only so much you can do with that meal!
